Title The Early Spring Spoiler
I have a question. Who sent those flowers to Tao? Did I miss it?
One of the novel readers commented below that, in the novel, it was the roommate.

EXACTLY what nabellalucia said!

Flora's bad communication is a direct consequence to Luke's communication. It was like that from the beginning.…
This is exactly right. And in episode 11, when talking to her friend on the hike, she said she doesn't have a boyfriend and she's "sorta in a relationship."

Meanwhile Luke is out there calling her his girlfriend when no one asks!

She feels no certainty at all and he's planning their future.

Rabid feminism is as ugly as chauvinism. I have shimmed thru an English translation of the IP web novel on which…
My dude in dramaland.
Feminism means equality for men and women. Rabidly wanting equality seems like a good character trait.
Chauvinism means aggressive belief that one's own group, nation, sex, or race is inherently superior to all others.

Did you mean "rabid misandry is just as ugly as misogyny"? Because, if so, I agree. But rabidly wanting to be equal as a human is in no way ugly. <3

IKR... why does he act like that?? I can't understand his logic.. this episode is soooo frustrating.. Really feel…
In his defense (sorta)... I think he's used to women falling all over themselves with him and so the fact that she doesn't is really confusing. His own mother told him he had a weird/bad personality. He's going to have to change on a fundamental level if he wants to be worthy of her. He doesn't have to be perfect, but he has to try being less prideful and entitled.

Yes Shang Zitao is an adult and she chose this relationship. She knew what she was getting herself into. But she’s…
Calling her a grassy weed (green foxtail) was... something else.

Right now this drama is shaping up to be a VERY SOLID 10/10 for me. I think I love everything about it, especially how messy and flawed the characters are.

This is so interesting because I do not see this perspective on the FL at all. She meant what she said (that she…
I would agree (that she crossed her own line) except for the scene that came *right* before the scene where she goes to his apartment. In that scene, her friend said something along the lines of, "You're letting this one mistake hold you back. If you hadn't slept with him, you'd be focused on doing whatever you can do get those files."
Realizing her friend was right, she did whatever she could to get the files. She went to his apartment, but she didn't cross any lines. She went there to beg him to give her the files, not to seduce him or be physically intimate with him. She did everything within her power to get the files short of crossing lines, which is exactly what she would've done if they hadn't slept together.
As an aside, thanks for discussing this with me! I think that's why I like this drama so much. I love seeing what everyone is taking away from the interactions and character motivations.

Y'all. We all love JBR and (perhaps reluctantly) love the character of Luke.

But allow me to remind you of what he's said (his words).
The scene in episode 9 when he pulls her away from the celebration, some of his dialogue while he keeps crowding her space.:
"I supported your work too. How come you've never shown me any gratitude?" <-- this is false and manipulative, especially since she's a junior employee; she's always saying thank you and offered to take him out to dinner; she shows gratitude ALL THE TIME. He's trying to make her feel uncomfortable.

He puts the medal around her neck then says, "Let it be a reminder to stop running away (from me)."

She takes ANOTHER step away (from her boss) and communicates the following: "Running away keeps me safe." So all y'all who are accusing her of expecting him to be a mind-reader, y'all need to stop. She is communicating clearly here what her fear(s) are (and they're 100% valid). He knows this means: "My dude. You're my boss. If you keep doing this, I'm the one who is going to suffer. You'll be fine, but I'll be fired. I don't feel safe with you." She goes on to say/spell out, "We are different; I have to be strategic and think ahead (about my career)."

AGAIN he invades her space and says, "Do accidents fit into your plans, too?" So he disregards her VOCALIZED concerns about her own safety and basically taunts her for sleeping with him in the past. (Very mature...) Then he calls her "Heartless." (More manipulation). "You clearly like me, but keep holding back. Isn't that exhausting." So, once again disregarding her concerns about her safety. (Selfish)

She says, "I can't lose my job. The company doesn't allow office romances." So, again she expresses her concerns. If you're counting, this is the third time.

Also, if you're counting, during the first episode, he's the one who insisted "no office romances" be added as an HR policy. Thus, he's one of those dudes who follows the rules unless they're inconvenient to him (selfish and hypocritical).

Seeing that he can't manipulate her in this way (since office romances aren't allowed per his order, and therefore she has a point other than "I don't feel safe with you, I'm scared of losing my job" both of which he's ignored so far) he changes his approach: "If that bothers you, we can keep our relationship private. Dating is too much trouble (for me). And I can't be bothered to maintain a romantic relationship. If you're willing, we can keep this between us. If it works, we continue. If it doesn't, we end it. If either of us wans to date or sleep with someone else, we tell the other person honestly and end what we have."

She says, "Okay. But we have to be exclusive."

In summary, I love Luke. I do. But he is a real arrogant POS. And Flora's biggest flaw right now is trusting this hot a-hole who has been using his position of power to push her into a relationship she's been trying to avoid. Does that make her a pushover? A little. It definitely makes her incredibly naive to think he has her best interests at heart. He definitely does not.

I have so many thoughts on this show. First I respect the writer for portraying a more realistic office relationship…
I agree. With everything. It's so good / interesting. And props to the writer for the realism.

Some of the places where the ML went wrong were in how he gave unsolicited advice when the FL joined the company.…
This is so interesting because I do not see this perspective on the FL at all. She meant what she said (that she wanted boundaries). He pushed and pushed and kept crossing the line. She told him multiple times that she wanted to only have a professional relationship with him, she switched teams, she told him he was being inappropriate in the stairway, etc. etc.

She's also a lot younger and more inexperienced than him (she's had one boyfriend, he's had A LOT of relationships). Regarding power dynamics, he holds all the power and she holds none. He's a man (and therefore always believed by society until proven guilty) and she's a woman (and therefore never believed by society until proven innocent). She's scared of losing her job.

And she's extremely attracted to him, respects and likes him as a person, doesn't know if she can trust him, worries she's not enough/not worthy of his higher status (not just at work, but also due to his wealthy background/parents).

I mean... you expect her to be savvy and shrewd, yet she was raised middle-class and sheltered. If anything, it seems like you want HER to be the mind-reader here.
