I started watching this and was going to drop it (due to boredom). But then I read the comments here and saw everyone watching for the second couple. I fast-forwarded all but the second couple's scenes and their part was very good!! Highly recommend doing this.
Any theory of ZiQi becoming the heavenly demon catcher while himself is half demon?
I think he already *is* the Heavenly Demon Catcher because the only requirement is being a demon catcher and possessing a level 9 demon core (which he already has). He just needs to accept himself as he is and stop trying to hide it.
I want to give this a shot because I love Ding Yuxi, but I can never get over Esther’s high pitched baby voice…
I also struggled with her voice the first time I watched one of her dramas (Love Between Fairy and Devil) and I understand this is 100% a me issue.
HERE IS A TIP: Watch on mute at first with subtitles only. Then watch the next episode at 10% volume, the next one at 20% volume, the next 30%, and so forth. You will gradually get used to her voice.
LBFAD is one of my favorite dramas of all time and I'm so glad I powered through and adjusted to her voice. I listen to her now with no issues.
The level of eye acting Ding Yu Xi is doing in this role is actually insane. What's higher than bringing one's A-game? For this alone, I've been re-watching earlier episodes.
i love him, watched so many shows with him. you will love him in love you seven times and moonlight!!!! intense…
Not really magical powers, but he's a martial arts expert, so he does a fair amount of bad-ass stunts and fighting. And he's so good at it. His fighting in this drama is so aggressive, much more than I've seen with other historic CDramas.
The intrigue is okay, but difficult to follow because the writers withhold details for too long, so it's normal to feel lost. Just accept that you might not understand what's happening from episode 3 - 17 with the plot, it feels all over the place.
But he is SO GOOD in this drama, it's 100% worth watching just for him. He looks older, taller, stronger, and is often stoic/dismissive. He falls for her slowly and she is oblivious to his feelings. Thus, he gets hurt/frustrated a few times but doesn't say anything and it's super adorable. All in all, it was a good look for him. :-)
I'm hoping someone else recommends something else / similar.
