Hard agree. I first saw Cheng Lei in A Familiar Stranger and then went frantically searching for all his other shows. I'm SO GLAD we're in our Cheng Lei as ML era. We are so lucky that we have the gift of his bombastic side-eye to look forward to moving forward.
And Zhou Ye is so expressive, she can communicate so much without saying anything. I loved her in Love Me, Love My Voice and have watched everything she's in. She's SO GREAT.
I'm up to episode 4 and I'm not seeing chemistry between the lead characters. When did you all start feeling it? For the record, I like them both just fine (the actors and the characters), but the chemistry isn't there yet... Also, the story is repetitive and boring so far. When does it pick up?

She's doing her best and doing everything by herself. She keeps asking her husband to step up while also trying to do right by his family and her children. She keeps pushing her daughter to be educated, hoping she'll leave and have a better life. Meanwhile, she's so scared and alone and terrified her daughter will fall victim to the same cycle as the older sister (and her). But, also, yes, she's a terrible mother. All of these things are true at the same time. What an amazing actress.
This is giving First Frost vibes, but instead of going back and forth between the past and the present, it's linear. The first half is nothing but sadness and angst.
