INFIDELITY AND LOVE TRIANGLES DRESSED UP AS A GANGSTER MOVIE
This is a really odd drama but at its heart it is not an action packed noir gangster movie, I mean it is but thats not what its actually about.
Its really about a married couple slowly being driven apart by the demands of ML work and the FLs infidelity with her ex.
The biggest plot is the FLs devotion to and her desire to protect, her undercover cop husband shifting in every way to instead being her devotion to and desire to protect her ex bf first love and oh yes the gangster her hubby is trying to bring down.
Its kinda makjang really.
Of course to make it seem less simple the ML is presented with a love interest of sorts. (He cant really avoid her or he blows his cover).
It is clear though that what this story is about is the FL and the ex rekindling their first love and the FL cheating on the ML basically in front of him and slowly revealing to him and us and herself that she loves the other guy more.
If you enjoy that sort of angsty torture good for you. I certainly do not.
On the plus for this mess of a drama i do admire the ingenious and different than the usual weary disfunctional domestic scenario this tired plot was wrapped in.
The last scene where the ML alone visits the grave and sees his wife has already been there alone and left flowers and the symbol of her love for the 2ML (she waved it in his face throughout) and then leaves his wedding ring tells you exactly what this show was really all about.

how in the name of sanity can people root for the guy who is yrs older than the girl and who is the father of the other nice guy who likes the girl. How can people watch this and say its not complety horrible and weird. How can this be!! make it make sense. WTF is going on. work of art what a joke stupid weird plot dad stealing his sons crush is just ugh. Kdrama writers I suppose have really tried to insert the same plot (annoying angsty love triangle where the good guy loses) into all sorts of scenarios to keep them interesting but this just a joke. disagree re the wife it's clear from the scene where 2ML dies it is truly him she loves. when the guns are drawn she looks at the MLs in fear not the bad guys she is instinctively afraid of ML shooting her ex not ex shooting her husband. Also the necklace being not so subtly used throughout to show her real feelings. also the scene in restaurant with them as two couples she knowingly and pointedly caresses the 2MLs arm and what she says she means it. Simple version she still loved her ex but married ML anyway then this ridiculous chain of events throws them all together.
