I guess bc Haishi isn't a "boooring" person😅. She talks back most of the time. It seems Haishi never got married with emperor, never seen any clips of their proper marriage ceremony. perhaps Emperor just bestowed her title "Madam Pearl" and that made her emperor's woman.

And tbh I dont really take it seriously this teacher-student relationship, I mean look at them, Irl they are 1 year apart, I cant imagine or think Haishi is 16 and Fang Zhu is 40. Check "empresess of the palace" they really use an Old actor as the emperor and young Sun Li as consort, for me thats too realistic and I cant completely enjoy . I also wonder when she will call him by his name. There's always gap between them if she still calls him Shifu 😩

I agree with the pace is rather slow, but I personally enjoy it. For some fast pacing drama I have to rewatch the beginning to understNd better. It shows their daily interactions and its cute imo. It seems escalade once Haishi left for war. I like to chase new drama daily so I will follow it religiously.

I agree that is sad for emperor where he wants to die but he just couldnt! But in the other hand, since he knows he cant just die like that, he should pick himself up and rule as emperor. Not moping around😩. Its easy to die but to survive needs a lot effort, if he really dies after killing his friend, then who will take over his throne. I really want to see his character development in next episodes

I personally really like William Chan! I like his demeanor, shifu's character is quite&cold, the actor did a great job potraying shifu, can feel his yearning and desperation, how he restricts himself. On the other hand, they seem to tune down the Emperor's barbaric behaviour and try to make him lovable. But its too late for me, still for me, emperor is someone who throws sh*t to ppl around him whenever he feels like sh*t, and oh Im feeling better today so I will treat you better, I wont grab your chin nor push you to ground, nor bully today. 🤷🏽♀️ he may have a good heart but the way he treats his consort with no Respect made me upset llolll
