I actually remember that he had like one line in Gokusen. Yes, I'm that much of a fangirl. Sigh.
I first became a fan of his after seeing Tokyo Dogs. I thought he was really funny in that. Hana Kimi sealed the deal lol. I really hope he stars in another drama because I'm not really looking forward to the Kuroshitsuji movie. I'm not a fan of the series...
I've noticed that there has been an increase in ads recently and I fear that this move will eventually end up…
People have to remember that creating and running a website isn't free...especially one that legally streams video content. They have to pay for licensing fees, royalties, hosting fees, and more. To fund those expenses, they need to use ads. It's really no different from watching commercials on tv. Since it's on the internet you can just switch tabs and look at something else during the commercial. It's no big deal if you ask me, considering the service they are providing.
I'm quite happy to see this news. As a big fan of Japanese dramas I hope this means that we will finally have a service like Dramafever in which we can watch Japanese dramas in high definition with little to no ads. It will be great if they include other Japanese programs as well. All over the internet there are so many sources for watching HQ anime, but so little for (Japanese) dramas. That has left many of us having to settle for torrents or Chinese websites (great for people who understand Chinese and Japanese, not so great for others). So hopefully, this equals good news for us. If they offered a paid service to view currently airing dramas in high definition, heck I'd pay.
And for those complaining about commercials, Viki already has an excess of commercials...

This is a really late reply but I actually did watch Proposal Daisakusen recently. Whatever happened to that Yamapi?! lol He was funny and likeable in that role...
This drama has such a double standard. In a lot of other dramas that I have watched, the husband has an actual affair and is forgiven. In this one, the woman didn't really have an affair. She didn't do anything physical with Yamapi. It was more of an emotional affair. Anyway, I still hated this one. :<

cont.
She is also making terrible generalizations about entire countries. Unless you are an expert in both cultures, you should really keep it strictly related to the dramas you have seen. And the author has even admitted to not having seen many Japanese dramas. An article like this would have best been written by someone who has watched many dramas from both countries.
This author is quick to make assumptions about the character archetypes in Japanese dramas with only having seen a few. She claims Japanese dramas have flat characters. She obviously hasn't seen that many. This article is disappointing to say the least. And I have a problem with this sentence: "For T-dramas, I think the language is not as lovable as Korean, and the country is small." Both Japan and Korea are very small countries. And I don't know what makes a language "lovable" either.
In my opinion, including the title Japan vs. Korea is a big mistake. You're comparing the dramas, not the entire countries. And besides, no one here can say that one country is better than another...with that being said, you are not comparing the dramas in general, just the kiss scenes. A more appropriate title would be "K-dramas have the best kiss scenes" or something of that sort. Taking one aspect of the dramas and using that one aspect as a comparison to decide which one is superior? Not a very adequate argument in my opinion.
I honestly don't think the author made a very good comparison. She was biased from the beginning. She starts off by making the rash assumption that "everyone" is obsessed with Korean culture and dramas. That is a painting a large audience with a broad brush. Many users on this site prefer Japanese dramas. Some prefer Thai dramas. Others Chinese.
Oh sorry about that...I totally forgot about to check this lol. Oh and I went to South Shore high school. But depending on how old you are you probably never heard of it since it go dissolved right after I graduated.
