I see. It's the same with Japanese, but the words don't sound similar, it's just a lot of the characters are the same. I have learned some words so far and it's easy to remember them since I already know the kanji. Yeah I have noticed that a lot Taiwanese dramas tend to be romantic comedies and the like. I already have a whole bunch on my PTW list. Do you watch/know of any Taiwanese variety shows? It doesn't matter if there are subs, I just would like to know so I can begin watching some for listening practice

Hello, I notice you say that you learned Mandarin from watching Taiwanese dramas. I plan to do the same. It's basically what I did to get where I am at with Japanese lol. I've only just started but I plan on watching as many Taiwan dramas as possible...I greatly envy your list! I assume you know Cantonese since you grew up on TVB dramas. Would you say that knowledge of Cantonese made learning Mandarin easier?

Why do people still get excited about dramas with talentless Johnny's boys in the lead roles?
Why do people waste their time to spread hate about actors that they don't even like, on a drama page for a drama that they probably won't watch?

I'm commenting late as heck on this but I somehow stumbled across this article. I must say that each version of this story is pretty much its own thing; they are all based on the same source material but each is very different! It's not like you're even watching the same story. I didn't find Ella's acting to be annoying at all. I don't see how her facial expressions are exaggerated. Like, look at the Japanese version and Ikuta Toma's facial expressions LOL. Plus Sano is much more likable in this. I think it has a good balance of comedy and character development. Yeah, the editing is a bit awkward in places and it looks like they had an $100 budget, but it has it's own charm. I just wish there were more shirtless scenes with Jiro. ;)

Why do I have a feeling that it's going to be like the Sixth Sense and someone is going to be dead all along? lol

She's gorgeous and has such a cool vibe, as opposed to the kawaii vibe many actresses and idols her age go for.…
This is a late reply but I recently watched a Japanese variety show on which she was a guest on. I was expecting her to be like you described, but she was more on the kawaii side and very perky and feminine lol. Guess she brings the fierceness to her roles but she actually has a bubbly personality.

If you don't want to ruin the ending of the drama, skip the special. Especially if you're someone who hates ambiguous…
Well, you can take the chance and watch the special...LOL

Just wanted to point out this was shockingly poor and the last episode was horrible. It was almost as if they…
You can easily just go the pages of people who watched the drama and see what rating they gave it...

I never thought I could be this happy that the male lead of a romance drama ended up alone xD
Yeah but I'm still going to side-eye the pregnancy thing...just seems like a cheap plot device in my opinion. The passage of time was not made completely clear and from past episodes it seemed like her husband wasn't getting any for a while lol. Plus Saeko stays at another man's place, sleeps with him, then shows up back at her husband's place pregnant? Lol I know that any guy would've been like "That baby ain't mine!"

I actually feel the same way. But I know that a lot of people who have been shipping the entire way will be mad about it. To me, it made the perfect amount of sense. But you know how drama fans are. If the lead doesn't end up with someone, the world ends. The only thing I didn't like was that Saeko ends up all happy and lovey-dovey with her husband. Like, wasn't he just hitting her a couple of episodes ago? And she cheated on him openly in front of everyone's face! Aren't those some big marital problems? Also, how the hell did she even know who the baby's father is? The baby isn't even born yet! lol And why is it when women get pregnant in dramas they look the same?

Eh I'm a little more excited for dramas this season than last season. Good to see seasoned greats coming back, like Ohno, Nino, Oguri Shun, Ueno Juri, etc. I really do not like medical dramas at all but I will watch Ueno Juri's drama because it I feel like it might be interesting because of the revenge aspect. For detective dramas it's a hit or miss for me. There are some great ones and ones that are run-of-the-mill. It really depends.
