Rise of Phoenixes is indeed a political drama that got hijacked by the love story. It is very flawed but I still rewatch it every time I am bored. I loved NIF and NIF2 as well but they are so tragic I rarely rewatch.

That is my all time favorite c-drama character by a long mile. If yous see him you will think Lord Lu is ludicrous. This actor's immitation as obvious and as bad as those cheap and fake LV and Gucci bags you can find all over China.

I remember a comment here saying Lord Lu's upper lips doesn't move that he looks like a ventriloquist dummy, now…
The actor is pathetic. He is trying to immitate Chen Kun's Ning Yi in Rise of Phoenix down to his wandering eyebrow, the low whisper and the intense stare. But to anyone who watched and loved Ning Yi it just looks really weak, creepy and stupid because he can't make his eyes gleam wickedly, he doesn't have the same gravitas and it doesn't suit his face which is nothing like Chen Kun's face. Not to mention Ning Yi was a grey character and not an evil one. I never realized it is possible to have acting pliagiarism until now.

The Pillow Book novel is better than Three Miles of Peach Blossoms novel imho. Although, the drama leaves a lot…
Actually IMHO as written, they were both fine. Just some idiot sexist director chose to drag out their naive phase in life to countless episodes...

I believe it is Chu Yui Bun for both of them. I gave up on ELOD at 25 so I never got to the good part but I did read the book which I liked.

I don't subscribe Tencent but Youku has 14 episodes out already, which is on track.
LOL well it looks like Tencent is buying iQiyi so maybe in the future they will be faster with subs. I believe that English subs is not a priority for Youku for the time being but now that Tencent/iQiyi is ganging up against them maybe it will change.

Me three. Both AOL and Pillow Book were good books (that I did end up reading since I bailed on the dramas). I realize I have a problem with that director because he likes to make women look stupid and naive - he dedicates endless episodes of his dramas towards doing this. Neither book actually does that. Since then, I get rashes when I watch either Yangzi or Dilraba (whom I used to love). I will never watch another one of his dramas.

Sigh, the logic is for 3 years old (no intention in humiliating 3 years old).
First time I have watched any of them but they seem quite good.

Instead of tencent to release the eps, they're releasing trailers. This drama is cursed somehow.

Heh... I had an aunt like that... I finally told her that she is silly and I can always lose weight but she will always be silly. I had to stand in the corner for hours for that but it was worth it. She never mentioned my weight again (which I lost years later after I fell in love with tennis and play all the time). LOL as for the toilet that is too much info for me I don't wanna know but I guess if there is less input there is less output too???

I am glad I am not the only one who noticed the actor playing Lord Lu was imitating Chen Kun's Ning Yi down to the sibilant whisper way of speaking. I have watched ROP so many times I saw it right away. I am however less impressed because many of those characteristics work for Chen Kun's face and vibe but not for his. He is a young actor that still needs to find his own style which he obviously has not.

Hahaha... if I had a penny for every time some relative exclaim at the top of their lungs.... wah.... when/why did you get so fat...?!? Actually an actress (only a mildly famous one) that was dating my friend told me the shoots are grueling and go on round the clock. They can't eat or drink too much or their face looks bloated on camera so its not necessarily dieting. They just tend to lose a ton of weight during each production. This actress she is a total foodie and she can really drink too but she claims she never has to worry because once she goes on set it all goes away. They were fat shaming Zhao Lusi bc apparently she insisted on eating between shoots and her face looked quite swollen in many shots in Love of Thousand Years. It is also why btw whenever my friends and I have birthday dinners we try to take pictures before and not after dinner.

Yeah stalking is scary and there are enough meet the fans events that you can go to if you really want to meet them. But dreams are probably best. Someone from one of the big production companies told me most of the actors are very thin and their official height is usually exaggerated. Very, very thin is also how my friend described Hu Ge...

Didn't they fight together with Lord Lu's men in episode 34?
Two more means you may as well finish!
