It's translated and available on Amazon.
Only the first one is translated. There are four in total. My guess is that the drama will be out before they get around to the rest.

Is that confirmed? The novel is interesting but I ain't watching Yang Zi. Please say its not true.
Sigh! You win some and you lose some... I guess I will just have to pass. A real shame but I guess I already read it, no need risk something I liked be ruined an actress I detest. Just took it off my plan to watch list.

Excellent article! I am a huge fan of Hu Ge. I just wish I had seen more of his shows before watching my all time favorite Nirvana in Fire. He just hasn't topped that role in anything else so I am almost always a bit wistful afterwards. I hope he gets some comparably awesome roles soon. He is such a phenomenal actor! I am definitely going to track down that movie of his that caught Tarantino's eye next.
PS : the fun fact about the 5 cats cracked me up. Its so eccentric.

Yes agree completely. But this is just a romance drama - many cliches and plotholes but in this genre that is what works. Some will complain about them but if you try to do something non-cliche - all hell will break loose and the drama will fail miserably!!! Ultimately its about the OTP, if they have good chemistry it is all good.... Because of that I really like this drama. But if you want to pick on it, there are a lot of flaws and plotholes. As you rightly pointed out both YT and JX are mega plotholes... but the show still "works".

Title Love and Destiny Spoiler

Because of JC. She always had a childhood crush on him but he never noticed her. After he came back, he praised her achievements and she was obviously trying to attract his attention. But he only had eyes for LX. She blamed LX for the exposure of her family's shame, her mother's suicide and her own downfall mostly out of jealousy and unrequited love for JC. It is not completely unfair - LX was the catalyst to the truth coming out but she did try to kill LX. Yeah totally deranged. This is not a well written character and it is quite unbelievable how much sh*t the celestials let her get away while they were totally merciless towards LX for doing nothing wrong.

So far so so good, however can someone explain JX and YT. They dont bring much to the story
They are textbook cliche costume drama villains that throw a bunch of obstacles in the path of the OTP. I particularly disliked JX but without them, this drama would definitely cross the line between uneventful and boring. This is not from a book but a screenwriter written story - although they got many things right, they just didn't bother to take the time to make the villains that complex or layered.

Is it good do u guys recommend it ?
I really enjoyed it but if you need subtitles you may want to hold off. The last 4 episodes are hard to find and not subbed. Until Amazon and Viki get all of it, you may not be able to watch or understand the ending. If you do understand Chinese then go for it.

OMG he is not. He’s a god for eff sake. He’s not meant to be some pretty boy. He’s over 20000 years old
Dijun maybe good looking but Vengo Gao is only a so-so actor. Anyone can play a stony faced rock. Let's see how he does in the Pillow Book where the role is more demanding... I hope he can pull it off but it is my secret big fear he is not up to it. Chang Chen on the other hand is a very talented and internationally recognized Chinese actor with wider range and intensity. While his role in L&D did not ask as much of him as many of the movies he has been in, there is simply no comparison between him and Vengo.

I'm just on Ep 04 and I find the FL character so annoying! Grrrr!
OMG how bad is she? You mean Yang Zi right? Why does she even get work? Should I avoid this show? I really detest her.

I am thinking about this but just one question: how is Yang Zi in this? I think I am seriously allergic to that actress after AOL. I truly can't stand her but I hear this is a really good drama... Is she a character I can pretty much ignore or is she front and center all the time?

Why is it taking so long to sub the episodes, like I've been waiting a few months for them to finish the rest…
The PCCD group on FB is a private costume drama fan group that is very easy to join. If you ask to join your request will be accepted very quickly. However if you want access to L&D with subtitles you have to pay. It is not free and don't know how much it costs or translation and video quality.

Viki's overall translation is notably better and more complete than Youtube's. However the titles/rankings of the deities while pompously accurate are cumbersome and a real mouthful in English. It is a small and unnecessary irritant.

Watch Brotherhood of the Blades 1 and 2 for more Chang Chen. He looks so much better there. I am still angry they…
To me, Chang Chen is one of the most handsome Chinese actors. That said, they did not do proper justice to his looks in L&D. Whereas they made Mark Chao look way better than he normally does in TMOPB.
