There are 5 volumes in the series, KOL is V2. The show must go on - many hit series replace roles with no impact - . JOL 2 replaced 2 support roles and JOL 3 will have to replace 1 very key role. The Zichuan series has a super high 8.7 Douban books score - better than a masterpiece like NIF's 8.5, JOL's 8.4 and SSS at 8.1. You rarely get source material with such high ratings from picky Douban. So iQiyi always meant to make the entire series but only got internal budget approval for 2 seasons. Most the cast should want to be associated with projects like this, esp if the budget gets raised and the series becomes increasingly popular. And in any case only YXW's return is key as they really can't make the rest without him. He is not an idol actor, he picks good projects with excellent source material. His STOTD series is iQiyi's most profitable and successful drama series to date. So it makes sense for iQiyi to try to get him to continue with this, esp with the high praises his performance has won. Even though the drama didn't top the charts while airing, it didn't need many views to to be profitable bc of the low budget. The IP is very well loved and word of mouth has been drawing novel fans to pick it up.

Most of them should be available - they are mostly regulars at Hengdian who bounce from set to set. LYN never got that much screen time, his role is quite replaceable. But I wouldn't be surprised if he decides to come back as well bc his character gets more interesting in later seasons.
Good observations, I also enjoyed the character interactions. Btw this is not a Chinese story, it is in the Xuanhuan genre which includes Western fantasy. And typo - it should be Bei (north) clan not Bie clan.
That's interesting. I'm feeling that there's still a possibility that they'll make S3. The drama's weibo account…
It's gotten some pretty good reviews, esp wrt YXW's acting. I suspect if he is agreeable to make S3, they'd probably go ahead with it even if they can't get everyone else.

Wouldn't be shocked if its under consideration bc they just closed off the Douban score after releasing it. In any case, the KOL arc is complete so its fine - its just like SSS and Eagleflag where the story continues but won't get all adapted.
It took me almost a month to watch it, a record for me. I can crush a 40 episode drama in a matter of a few days…
I can’t tell with most languages either but I have to hire good Mandarin speakers for work and you’d be surprised how many speak with heavy local dialects…😅
