They normally try to avoid clashing with each others dramas it’s a customary industry practice that is good for everyone. Usually the advertisers ask for that so that they don’t pay twice to advertise on the same time slot.

I think it airs on all platforms at the same time so no arbitrage there just me being petty bc 9pm
is late for me I can at most watch 2 episodes.

Can you believe Tencent? That doesn't air until 9pm my time just to make sure people watch Imperial Coroner 2 first... Just to be spiteful I am gonna try to watch it on iQiyi instead of Tencent - not to mention I need to run down my current WeTv subscription before I can switch to the one with 4K quality.

Yups this was written by someone new and it shows. I dropped under the skin 2. Tbh I didn’t think UTS1 was all that good either so I didn’t have high expectations of S2.

S1 was immersed in a series of mysteries that connected to a bigger one and they unraveled like ancient CSI. The political angle only kicked in at the end and the villain was well hidden. This one is much more like an ancient spy vs spy story where the villain is a known enemy kingdom with a not super interesting hidden spy. The romantic angst isn’t needed and it disturbs not just the pacing but also the logic of some of the main characters. And the silly emperor of great Tang seems unable to protect his own team from the consequences of investigating the malign intent of a weaker enemy kingdom in his own capital? I am flabbergasted.

Oh geez - this is too heavy for a destination vacation!

This season brought a new screenwriter who has mucked up all the characterizations and is adding unnecessary angst/drama to the relationships instead of focusing on the case. Probably bc the case isn't that interesting or original - find the hidden spy... hmmm... where have we seen that before?
