They are just making a pun on Wang Jinsong's surname Wang/王 which means king. Tiemo贴膜 means "apply film/protector"…
He’s a terrific actor but doesn’t get much traffic - he takes what he can get!!!😅😆😂

Yeah it went downhill at ~20 and while the plot did recover some of the character arcs could not be salvaged.
I will - I had a very busy year so I am very behind on reviews this year but I will catch up since I am on holiday.

https://x.com/i/status/2003708064013385894what does it mean?
They are just making a pun on Wang Jinsong's surname Wang/王 which means king. Tiemo贴膜 means "apply film/protector" or screen protector for iphones. So he is the screen protector king. Its a really cheesy joke.

What’s in the special ep?
The special ties up the loose ends and gives an alternative ending for Huai'an. Wuyang ends up on the throne and Wenjing stays officially dead, choosing to serve the court as former pageboy Zhang Mo enacting policies for the people. Ye Zheng leaves to court his love Zhaolu while Xiaoqing becomes a doctor. And then we see a mysterious person in Yulong prison that is obviously Huai'an. He probably imprisoned himself there just like Tiemo King did. He owes Cen a favor, after which they are square, most likely a quid pro quo for Cen luring Tiemo King to the granary. Its a prelude to another season where he goes after Cen's master, another mysterious person at Mt Shiluoman in Tiemo. His work is not done obviously bc 200k Tiemo troops can still be deployed.

Yes you can buy your way into passing the exams but after that you got to work your way up through the system. The fact that these barbarian two geniuses managed to even fool the likes of scholars like Liu Biwen is amazing.

Huai'an should be detained by Cen Weizong/Tiemo in Yulong Ridge and not by Huben. Huai'an must have made a deal…
Yes me too - so if there is S2 we will see Tiemo politics play out. They are like terrorist cells - Cen's upline should be the person that stays at Mt Shiluoman (时罗漫山). He is probably after the Tiemo throne now that the Tiemo King is out of the way.

The last few episodes are not as clear as I would want them to be, moving on too fast, the editing, cut and paste…
I think its quite clear no one dies from being stabbed in the stomach in this drama. Its just a rule. Don't try it at home.

And I hate choose your own ending. Its a total cop out. Not to mention both choices suck.

Don't attack me but this last arc with the Tiemo people was such a drag to get through. I didn't enjoy it at all.…

Ditto - "my suspension of disbelief has its limits."
In fact, I couldn't have said this better.
I do think Yulong ridge part however is a prelude to another season. And it explains why Cen helped Huai'an.

No it makes no sense. He is imprisoned at Yulong Ridge by Tiemo/Cen's boss. He made a deal with Cen to lure Wu to the granary. That old fox didn't do it out of the goodness of his heart. He had his own agenda likely tied to Tiemo internal politics.

I am sure both Cen and Wu are brilliant but nonetheless they had a late start in terms of reading, writing and then learning the classics omg that takes so much time! To rise from wolf bait to a level beyond the brightest scholars in all of Chang'an to the highest offices of the land seems beyond implausible for just one of them, much less both.

Regarding the special:
Huai'an should be detained by Cen Weizong/Tiemo in Yulong Ridge and not by Huben. Huai'an must have made a deal with Cen Weizong in exchange for luring the Tiemo King to the granary. Cen must belong to a different faction in Tiemo from the Tiemo King - its quite clear they didn't really trust one another and had some ideological differences. He must have promised to help them with some of their schemes for a time in exchange for Cen's help. "That person" that Cen is referring to should be Cen's boss. Huai'an is doing to Tiemo what they did to Chang'an - destabilise them internally so they can't scheme against Chang'an. It is said that the special is a prelude to a second season.

This!!! I love a good twist like everyone but after the shock factor wears off, I keep having to try to shush the common sense factor.

That makes no sense. YFS is dead and Huben should either be disbanded or re-pledge their allegiance to the emperor.
