I dropped this on the first episode. I usually don't believe remakes of other countries bc they're just…
Please do give it another chance. I totally understand how you must have been a complete sceptic and dropped the drama in the first episode ~ Lord knows I've done that a dozen times, but trust me... this drama is good! It's very very nice.
I admit, sometimes seeing the same old scenes in another remake makes it so boring~ but think about it this way, if they changed the scenes, they would totally change the essence of the drama.
That being said, there are differences in this drama compared to the original Korean version. For instance, in this drama we get to see both twins. Yes, you get to see the twin brother talking and walking and being a hunk :P I especially liked the ending of this drama as opposed to the Korean version where she had to go tour the world or something :/
My say: Please, if you find it that you have time and the heart, do give this another chance.
I think I'm more open to Asian remakes of Asian dramas or Asian countries adapting their neighbour countries manga or anime— as opposed to the Western remakes and adaptations.
I admit, the chances of having a good remake/ adaptation of any drama is 50-50 regardless of which country is the adopter, but in my personal opinion, the western countries, such as America, fail to give credit where it is due, and most of the time the remake/adaptation loses its essence altogether.
After watching Behind Your Smile I was really wary of revenges dramas. In fact I swore not to watch one again. But this showed up from somewhere and I gave in because of the good reviews and DAMN! BEHIND YOUR SMILE HAS GOT NOTHING ON THIS! Now this is how a man hell bent on revenge should be like~ Great drama!
Okay guys I've done some researching and this is what I've found so far about the novel this was adapted from:
+ Minglan is initially a very persimisstic soul.
+ Minglan is, still, very witty and precious (personality wise)
+ The novel doesn't bring too many ups and downs for Minglan.
+ She is too smart and manages all the hurdles very well.
+ The main male lead, Gu Yan Ye, Minglan's eventual husband, has a very questionable past, and so is very unconvential.
+ There are 3 suitors for Minglan in this (Including her husband)
+ Her husband has two kids already, from his concubines.
+ He also has a 'favourite' concubine~ so ladies who enjoy a one woman man... you best be prepared to keep your hearts locked up somewhere. This man may not be the man for you.
+ A lot of readers felt that the main lead's love for Minglan was quite limited. As in, guys, if this movie really adapts that personality trait as well~ we're going to have a lot of dissapointment for our main male lead.
+ However, the main male lead does make a solid effort to woe and get Minglan.
+ The main male lead's eldest daughter is in love with her half-brother. So we have potential incest as well, guys.
+ In the novel, the first lead, her husband, arrives after quite a few chapters.
+ We will love Grandmother very very much. (Not sure if it's Minglan's or Gu Yan Ye's)
+ Her 2nd brother, i think, and his wife are very much adored by the readers.
+ Her father, mother, and this other brother, sister, and sister-in-law are definitely not liked.
I'm not really trying to be offensive or anything~ but they really shouldn't have kept the lead actress…
Tell me about it! Goong is a classic! How could anyone compromise with such important events~ kisses are important in Goong. Especially because of that second female lead being there all the time. -.-
I'm not really trying to be offensive or anything~ but they really shouldn't have kept the lead actress if they had kissing scenes and she doesn't want to be kissed on the lips. It just completely ruins it for most people watching. Imagine seeing real kisses with the second lead girl and then seeing cold puffs of air with the lead female. Give me a break.
