[EP03] It had a lot of promise, but between the extremely annoying female character and the forced humour being slapped onto a concept that is supposed to be serious and morbid — this show is (so far) extremely stupid. 5/10
[ EP01 ] I can’t believe these people are calling Dissociative Identity Disorder … Post-traumatic Stress Disorder?! Did no one actually even try to consult… I don’t know, their version of Google or something? I see I can’t use the intelligent side of my brain for this. So I’ll just turn it off now.
[ EP02 ] Even the depiction of DID is not accurate. Unless the second alter that the FL has, is delusional
[ EP07 ] This ML should donate all his asset to the FL. Rub his nose on the FL’s feet in apology. And then Fek away as far as he can go!
[ EP20 ] This drama might be very entertaining for some people. Perhaps younger audiences who have recently found Asian dramas. It carries the charm of early 2010s C-Dramas. The same blueprint. However, I simply can’t digest the plot at this age.
So I watched some edits and it reminds me so much of amidst a snowstorm and I freaking loved it!! Yes ik it’s…
The ML is a little silent and reserved, but he dearly loves the FL and doesn't do anything red-flaggish to her. The FL is a green forest full of oxygen (as an adult).
I am in EP 22 and there is no true angst in their present life. Flashbacks may show some angst but that's irrelevant because they are happy and progressing in the current time. The romance, compared to "Amidst a Snowstorm of Love" is not as fiery. This is more mature and still. There is a lot of compromise and understanding between the FL and ML because of the ML being away for long periods due to his work.
However, the story telling is decent and the world building makes sense.
It's a good story, but not for everyone. I say try watching 5 EPs. If you like it, continue.
[ EP02 ] Wow this ML’s personality. There truly is someone for everyone huh.
[ EP22 ] — A calm, silent but also communicative sort of love. Best suitable for those who seek a romance that is not fueled by the raging passion and aggression of youthful love, but the delicate and slow currents of mature love, and the love and understanding that comes with it.
As one of the reviews above mentioned — the characters in the drama carry traditional and patriotic values such as monogamy and nationalism. At first, I was caught by surprise by how strongly the FL and ML wanted to remain only for each other — but then I thought, why should monogamy not be appreciated? After all, in a world population of 7 billion plus people... majority consider monogamy virtuous. Why should I judge someone who says they would not marry anyone except their first love? Isn't it ... in a sense... romantic?
This drama is not for everyone, I will say this. If you desire tangible passion that sweeps you away and makes you giggle, this may not be for you. But if you wish to see love where there is sacrifice, understanding, deep ...silent but assuring love, and growth between two people who try to make it work despite one's career...love that makes you smile, and nod your head in appreciation, this will be for you.
A decent love story spanning the years of HighSchool to adulthood. It had a harmonious plot with less than 5% angst in my opinion, and quite a smooth sailing progress. Added bonus were the amazing parents of all the children seen in the show.
Although nothing breathtaking, still a solid companion on days you need a bit of sugar.
1. The location of the shooting. I wonder if it’s real, but I don’t think they could afford CGI so … the bridge and waterfalls and mountains in the background when the FL ate at her sister’s place. Gorgeous!
2. The simplicity of the story in a sense that there is no grand theatrics about the challenges that come the FL’s way. It just arrives, it happens, is dealt with, and gone.
3. Gorgeous dishes. This drama is first and foremost about her cooking. Thus, we see a lot of delicious dishes being prepared. It’s very educational if you wish to learn about Chinese cuisine.
4. The low budget. This is both a plus and minus. A plus because due to not being able to afford more fancy set etc — we may be able to see a more accurate representation/set up of how life really was like back then.
[ What I Do Not Like ]
1. Whenever anyone is cooking, such as the FL, the preparation of food is shown in super close-ups, with the hand obviously looking like a man’s hand. When the camera pans to the FL’s face, it is always cut off above her chest so we can’t actually see her doing anything. I found that really annoying. The actress could learn to perform basic steps so that we could get full body shots at her actually doing the cooking not just fiddling around here and there grabbing stuff. It is extremely unbelievable.
2. The Low Budget. I do not know of there are different outfits but I can’t tell because the colours are the same but the cast don’t really get a lot of outfit changed. The FL’s brother in law rotates his moss green outfit, the ML rotates beween a white xinxia outfit and his blue uniform, the FL’s sister rotates a more coral coloured outfit and a pink outfit, and the FL rotated (initially) light blue outfits.
3. The ML’s acting is like a plank. Granted the ML is a green flag who does anything for FL. And he’s steadfast only for the FL. But the actor …
I feel like when they chose the cast they picked up a YangYang and Dilreba lookalike and called it a day. Note: not a fan of either of the two celebrities mentioned.
````````````````````````````````````````````````[EP 01 - 06]- Great beginning with young FL braving a storm and…
Thank you so much for explaining/spoiling this for me tbh, I will view her very differently now. I’m sad for her now, I wonder if the secret will ever open up – and I also understand why the 2nd aunt is so protective of him now. must be scared of him finding out and going to his birth mother.
I could be wrong but I don't think it's dubbed after listening to the above interview. But again, i could be wrong. ^^'
