I understand what you mean.. Seeing the 8.8 rating, you would expect something complicated with big plot like It's Okay to Not Be Okay or Hospital Playlist.. That's why I said the numbers of raters are the key here..

I think for with 2+ raters, the people who rate this drama consists of this: The majority is the people who really love the dramas who gave 9-10 rating because not people have watched and rated this drama. The minority of anti-fans who tried to bring it down. And the minority who think that this drama is so-so..
For now, because the viewers who gave rating are not that many (compare to Kdramas with 9 rating) this drama can get high rating..
That's why since I love this drama so much and gave it 10.. I 'm still hoping that the new viewers will give it 9-10 rating so the rating will still be high..

Yes, realistically speaking JJ might've got a new love interest if he took too much time.. Maybe he was hoping that it wouldn't be that easy for JJ to find a new love, since even after 10years, both of them only one ex each..
And one more thing, I think that if it's easy for him to accept JJ's confession, people may think that it's because that JJ is a famous superstar. I don't know, that is just something that crossed my mind..

My favorite C-dramas this year is YAMG and The Rational Life.. Both are mature concept. I don't think TRL story is cliche.. However, it focused much on their office life and it's a slow burn romance. And TRL is a bit darker than YAMG and not that much of fluff.
Or if you want something that has gaming and entertainment industry, you can try Love Scenery.. It's so fluffy though, IMO..

The difference between the rejections is: The 1st time, YT thought that JJ wasn't a hardworking person, so he didn't think that she would be suitable for him. ( Simply speaking, She's not good enough for him). The 2nd time, YT thought that he had no time and money to make JJ happy (Simply speaking. He's not good enough for her).
About he should've gone ahead and accept her confession, he's just not that type of a guy. You'd find out in later episode why.. He's the type of a guy who think too much, even for the rest of his life. He didn't want to just date her and if it didn't work, they'd break up. He didn't want that. He wanted to be sure about himself first..
I know that it's sad and hurting for JJ. But I think personally he needed that time and space to think. He had to have strong will or he will be down when in the future he has to face the fact that if we talk about money and fame speaking, JJ's level is above him.

I think it has something to do with the raters.. Frankly speaking, Kdramas usually has more viewers and they rate the dramas. I.E.. you mentioned YAMG and FOE. FOE has 20k+ users who rate it while YAMG has 2k+ users who rate it. FOE may have more viewers in MDL and not all of them will rate it high, though I think 9,1 is already high. While YAMG (aside from the attack of anti-fans weeks ago) has fans who rated high for this drama because they love it, hence they got high rating.
So, if you talk about overhyped because of the script, I disagree. We don't know what the rate will be when YAMG has more viewers. (Though personally I hope that new viewers will rate it 9-10 for this drama so the rating will raise more). But, there is a chance that new viewers will rate it low, so the rating may drop (Let's hope that won't happen).

For anyone who read the novel.. Can you confirm something for me?
I've read the novel from the hui3r which I got the link from novelupdates. The novel that I read has 37 chapters with 16 epilogues, the last epilogue is about the launch.. Is that right?
Then I got this information from ig, saying that there were special chapters that was published in some kind of forum (I'm not sure which forum in China).
Anyone knows about this?

Other than YAMG, my favorite Cdrama this year is The Rational Life. It has the same slow burn and mature concept. But, TRL is a little bit heavier and focus much about their work lives.

I completely agree with you. QJJ despite of her status, she has down to earth aura. You're right that she only boasted about her beauty.. But, I always find it very funny, especially when she did it with YT. And she did it without being hurtful to other people. I think the only time she did it to hurt other people is when she compared herself to her rival, Zhao Zi Qi.. When she was complimented by her classmates in KTV, she downplayed it and said that they're all beautiful, because she knows that if she boasted then, she would hurt the other girls' feeling.

Just want to share something.. I'm rewatching this drama (AGAIN). Now I'm in Ep5 when YT meeting XQ. XQ told him that she didn't use public transportation anymore for years to boast to him. I think this is really hurtful, she's even not that rich compare to JJ. Even JJ, when she does something that shows off her wealth (like shopping and being catered by XiaoZhu) she always tried to downplay it and explain to YT in most humble way she can so YT won't think of her a snob.

JJ already felt that she was a good supporter for her boyfriend even from the start.. 🤭🤭😁😁ep23/24 when she had so many NGs while filming and she was chatting with YT..

I'm glad that I watched this drama last year.. before YAMG was announced... Or, maybe I would end up like you.. LOL.. When I watched this drama, I thought it was an okay drama, even though the FL acting is really not natural, I didn't think much of it and I enjoyed this drama.. BUT after I saw YAMG and watch how natural the leads together now that I think back, LO2O isn't that good..

And.. initially, there are already a lot of kissing scenes.. plus the re-takes.. LOL.. I wonder if someone compile all of the kissing scenes PLUS the bts re-takes, how long would the video be.. LOL

"Many different angles" so that means they have to re-take a lot.. more than usual(?), because of their high noses.. LOL

I think Ep 21-22 are cute, playful romance, the beginning of their relationship. Then we got Ep 25-26 which is the raw passionate romance.. And later Ep 27-32 are sweet romance with familiarity of old couple relationship.. When I said "old", I didn't mean that they are old.. I mean that they have been in relationship for few years, so they're familiar and comfortable with each other..

It's not only JJ.. YT was the one pulled her onto his lap on most scenes 🤭🤭
