How could I forget Zhang Ruo Yun, he's amazing in Joy of Life! William Chan is cool and Pearl Eclipse is beautiful but it's an emotional rollercoaster so beware. Xu Kai is also a younger actor but I love him as 2nd lead in Story of Yanxi Palace and 1st lead in the more recent She & Her Perfect Husband...

Hahaha no joke, you've already seen so many of the ones I listed. Wallace Huo is an old favourite of mine, I've been following him ever since Journey of the Flower. Tan Jian Ci is a new hidden gem I found last year, it's amazing how deep his voice is.

• Wallace Huo - Love Me If You Dare, The Journey of Flower, Battle of Changsha (heavy but very emotional)
• Chen Xiao - A Dream of Splendor (absolutely gorgeous), Legend of Lu Zhen (oldie but a goody)
• Zhu Yi Long - The Story of Ming Lan (with Feng Shao Feng but I have second lead syndrome cause of ZYL), Guardian, Reunion: The Sound of The Providence (modern adventure isn't my thing but this is quite good)
• Allen Ren - Under the Power (also with Seven Tan), One & Only / Forever & Ever, Blue Whisper
• Tan Jian Ci - Under the Skin
• Mark Chao - Eternal Love (Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms)

Here are the younger actors but I think their recent roles are very mature...
• Leo Wu - Love Like the Galaxy
• Yang Yang - You Are My Glory, Glory of Special Forces

Tru tru, he's only in 1 ep. But it's nice to see him make cameo in so many dramas. I mean he plays the young version of nearly half of the well-known Korean actors like Lee Seung Gi, Lee Jong Suk, Nam Joo Hyuk, Namkoong Min, Lee Byung Hun, Yeo Jin Goo, etc.

It makes me want to watch Racket Boys. Btw I would highly recommend When the Camellia Blooms, it's so sweet!

Wow Kim Kang Hoon is amazing as the young Do Joon! I remember feeling the chills seeing him play the young psychopath in Mouse. His acting skills are already through the roof at just 13 years old... 🤯🤯🤯

OMG I just finished the Blue Whisper and it's good! It's totally different from my first impression. I thought the costume and music feel a bit awkward at first but everything come together pretty nicely. Thanks for the recommendation ❤️

I just started Blue Whisper. It took me so long to get over my Dilraba ships from You Are My Glory and The Long Ballad. I like BW but feel a bit bad for Chang Yi cause he's being tricked by Yun He atm. Hopefully, they'll get out of that phase soon and actually fall in love for real 🥺🥺🥺

I tend to alternate between my K-drama and C-drama phases. But I must say historical C-dramas are really good at being grand, complex and intense. Like you said, since most of them are so long, you become a lot more attached to the characters. The longest dramas I've ever watched are probably Story of Yanxi Palace, The Story of Ming Lan and The Empress of China. In fact, they're so long that now there's a 40 ep limit on dramas hahaha...

Me too! I destress by watching palace politics and xianxia where people cough up more blood than they probably have 😂😂😂

Actually we have pretty similar tastes. The Blue Whisper and The Legend of Fu Yao are definitely on the top of my to-watch list. Btw I know you have a lot on hand atm, but I would highly recommend A Dream of Splendor and Who Rules the World. One and Only is gorgeous as well but a bit heavier 😉

Wow that's a lot of historical C-dramas for one year! The most I've tried was about 15, but even then I was close to madness hahaha...

Like Blizzardahm, it's hard to find short but good Xianxia dramas like LBFAD cause the 40 eps limit on C-dramas is introduced recently. I'm surprised how LBFAD even managed to fit into 36 eps cause Xianxia dramas normally have fairly complex plot and the mortal / reincarnation arc is a must.

But you can't go wrong with these classics...
• Eternal Love (58 eps) & its spin-off Eternal Love of Dream (56 eps)
• Ashes of Love (63 eps)
• Love & Redemption (59 eps)
• Ancient Love Poetry (49 eps)
• Journey of Flower (58 eps)

Who Rules the World (40 eps) is not really a Xianxia but it has some fantasy elements, plus it's quite short and very aesthetically pleasing.

• Forbidden Love - Dylan Wang plays a fake & vengeful eunuch (trailer looks intense)
• Half of Us - Esther Yu & Zhang Ling He realise the FL x SML coupling of LBFAD lol
• Sword & Fairy - Esther Yu & Xu Kai

Definitely! It's the longest drama I've seen this year. But the great balance between the script, acting and production makes it has made it a very memorable and immersive watching experience for me.
