Also, Dylan as a bad cold hot male lead is a total meal. period.
All I read in the summary was "Lord Devil" and realized that's who Dylan Wang was playing before I added this to my "Plan to Watch" list XD XD He makes a very fine bad boy.
Too bad this hasn't finished airing yet. I promised I wouldn't watch any more dramas before they'd finished airing after I had to wait two months to finish You Are My Glory XD
Unpopular opinion: this one was kinda boring for me. There are a lot of things I like about it: the romance, YangDi's chemistry, the maturity, etc. But watching them sit there playing the mobile game is just... boring. There's no purpose to it-- they're just playing the game for the product placement. I also personally didn't find Yu Tu's career arc entertaining at all. If anything, it stressed me out XD I think it's a case of me needing to escape reality when I'm watching a drama, while the career stuff hit a little too close to home. I tend to prefer absurdity in dramas as long as it's done well. The drama was also too long, but that's to be expected in Cdramas.
I'm not saying this isn't a great drama; it definitely is. It just wasn't my cup of tea. I only go back to it to watch the romance between Yu Tu and Qiao Jingjing, because that's honestly the only part I found entertaining.
This is one of those dramas with no substance and filled with msg but I do enjoy an instant ramen now and then,…
Honestly that's how I felt about this drama. It's cute, romantic, and funny. The last episode is actually the best wrap-up of a drama I think I've ever seen-- granted I've been in Cdrama-land for the past few years and their endings literally *always* suck, so my standards are very low XD It's an easy watch, it's funny, and it's cute. I like that I don't have to think too hard about it.
Kdrama pays more attention to female perspective more than male perspective.I saw a lot of kdrama Most of the…
I think that female leads being pampered by their male leads in Kdramas has less to do with a statement on gender equality and more to do with catering to the target audience. The people watching romance dramas are mostly women-- some men, but definitely majority women. Kdrama makers know that a lot of women fantasize about the perfect man who pampers them constantly, so they deliver.
I agree that it's not equal between the genders and this may have a negative impact worldwide. But I think that's why dramas are written this way.
Just found him singing "Memory" from Cats. This guy isn't even a countertenor, he's a soprano: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmc1aP90zGc What an amazing talent. I had no idea that the person singing the song from "The Sword and the Brocade" was actually a man.
This drama has so many flaws, but it's such an easy watch that I keep watching it over and over again XD I just can't resist FJ and DH's chemistry, and I love Vengo Gao
I wouldn't go so far as to call that character "non-binary." Being non-binary requires a person to identify themselves as such. The "hermaphrodite" clearly self-identified as a woman who looks a bit like a man who dressed a certain way in order to make a living. She even wanted to stop dressing that way. Had the character shown any indication of self-identifying as a "hermaphrodite", it would've been different. As for the mentally disabled character, his mom literally said, "He has the mind of a five-year-old." So that's how the actor acted
Man, I wish they would do a second season of this show. I just finished bingeing it today and I'm already suffering withdrawals. I won't get my hopes up for a season 2 since it's already been two years and I don't think this drama was very popular....
ALRIGHT I'M DONE that scene in ep 21 when Inspector Luo explains to Xiao'an that modern women want independence and not someone to look after them.... somebody help I've fallen in love with Inspector Luo even though he's not real
Also they actually showed a gay couple in one of the episodes, which I thought wasn't allowed because of censorship??
I was also confused for the same reason when they criticized the government in episode one-- then I realized it's Republican era, so they can criticize the government all they want XD
I just started watching this and it's DEFINITELY earned the hype. Nothing life-changing, but it's interesting and witty. Vengo Gao and Ma Yi Li have great chemistry (plus it's nice to see Vengo acting with a more mature actress). I look forward to their interactions. What a fun watch!
One of the things this show has made me realize is that having a good script is the most important thing to me.…
Your comment reminded me of The Romance of Tiger and Rose-- a lower-budget drama, but the script is fantastic. One of the points of that one was to point out the lousy script-writing of a lot of Chinese dramas.
hi basically what happened in the body swapping moment is the story in her novel. the novel start after her breakup…
That's the exact reason that I just skipped the last ten minutes last time I rewatched this. I think they were trying to make things more realistic, but that's just silly. All viewers suspended our disbelief when we saw the words "body-swapping" XD
C-dramas are notorious for having awful finales (sorry not sorry), but this drama has by far the worst final episode I've seen in my 10+ years of watching Asian dramas XD Glad I didn't expect this to be good
Why did Yin Dong prefer Luo Yi over Wu An Bo? Why did Luo Yi leave Yin Dong?
Ying Dong preferred Luo Yi because she was the female lead, I guess XD we may never know the truth about why she left.
I'm just wondering why everyone forgot that Ying Dong was dating and literally discussing marriage with Amber. Even they themselves forgot at the end. None of that made sense at all.
I truly feel for those who found THE Eternal Love instead of TMOPB after being recommended to watch it. It was…
It's been forever since you commented this, but I love your description of The Eternal Love as a "trashy snack food drama" XD that's so spot-on. I always call those kinds of dramas "crack dramas"-- the ones that are either insane or don't make sense, but you love them for some inexplicable reason. Meteor Garden (2018) is the most recent crack drama I watched

So I guess you could watch the raw and follow along with the subtitles like a script XD
