ouch that last line hit so hard. Unfortunately you're definitely right, though lakorns have gotten much better…
I don't know what types of lakorns you like. I'd definitely recommend Buppaesannivas, Padiwaradda (I particularly like the FL in that one), Full House Thai, Wanida, or Soot Sanaeha. You might also like Roy Leh Marnya-- it does have an evil villain lady, but at least the main couple has a healthy relationship.
FL seems to flaunt a lot of the rules and so far we haven't really seen her bare true consequence especially when…
Just commenting to mention that the farang couple was included because they were in the original book this was based off of. The book's author wrote the book as historical fiction, so she included her imagining of Constantine Phaulkon because he was an important figure in Thai history.
Honestly this one doesn't do anything that hasn't been done a million times before plot-wise. The ML's character is also kinda toxic. Though I don't think it's a new favorite of mine, I still enjoyed it well enough. It's a good comfort watch for when you want something simple and predictable.
Is it looked down upon if someone has a pre-marital relationship in China?
From what I understand, people are more upset that the woman in question was the leader of one of his fansites than at the fact that they had sex. I still really don't get it, I mean sure there's an uneven power dynamic between the woman and her idol, but she's still old enough to consent to their relationship. Chen Feiyu wouldn't even have been that popular at the time-- like the article said, he only recently shot to stardom. He definitely doesn't deserve to lose his career over this. The release of the photos was definitely a calculated move on the woman's part-- the fact that she took them, and also the fact that she waited to release them until now. It's all so bogus.
The ML was not bad. I like his intensity/love for the FL but not the stalker vibes. The FL , I was not feeling…
As someone who tends not to be super openly affectionate, I was ok with the FL being less "touchy-feely" than the ML. There are lots of relationships where one person is super affectionate while the other shows their affection in other ways. It's definitely not for everyone, though.
I liked this one way more than I thought I would. It has its weak points, one of them being that the characters weren't written super well. In real life I wouldn't have liked the ML being a simp with no other personality, but I was able to suspend my disbelief for this drama. Overall it's super sweet, avoids a lot of cliches (I particularly liked what they did with Tian Xiwei's character), and an easy watch. People saying that the FL didn't reciprocate the ML's affection probably didn't watch far enough into the drama. The FL initiates a lot of the kissing and intimacy after they get together. I appreciated this touch because it solidified her reciprocated affection for the ML. The only part I hated was the shots of the dog statue making weird noises. That honestly creeped me out. This one also has a very satisfying last episode, which you don't see often in Chinese dramas.
YESS IT'S HAPPENING. Tencent reveal it during presentation for Tencent Video's popular IP projects 2023https://twitter.com/Cpop_Melon/status/1588099661352632320?s=19
AAAAAAA that's so exciting! Now I have something to look forward to!
Now this is labeled as season 1. Is season 2 still happening? I'd given up hope for a season 2 because a) it's been three years and we haven't heard anything else, and b) I thought Zhao Lusi has gotten too big for a season 2 of this drama. She's a full-on A-lister now.
i enjoy this drama because it is silly but it hardly deserves rating of 8,6 lmao
I think the rating has to do with the clever writing. It is silly, but it's also a really good satire of Cdramas. That's why I gave it a higher rating, but to each their own
