Overall this drama is amazing. Gorgeous sets, acting, writing, story, romance, music, everything. I felt part…
I found the ending unsatisfactory overall. They had the time to give us a wedding and maybe a cute montage of married life, but instead they dragged out Niao Niao's issues for FOREVER. Seriously, those last few episodes felt twice as long as the entire drama. I think they should've ended it after Ling Buyi got his revenge and jumped off the cliff. They should've had him come back to life and married Niao Niao and ended it there. The last part felt wholly unnecessary and thrown-together. Even though I've seen much worse endings in cdramas, I couldn't enjoy this ending at all because I was so ready for the drama to finally be over. They should've quit while they were ahead instead of tagging onto the end like they did. The ending felt like the writers ran out of ideas and had to fill time. Ling Buyi getting his revenge felt like the true ending, and upon rewatches I'll probably just stop there because the drama feels more complete at that point.
Overall this drama is amazing. Gorgeous sets, acting, writing, story, romance, music, everything. I felt part one was stronger than this part overall-- part two got quite draggy in the middle and at the end. If only this drama came out after they imposed the 40-episode rule, because I think 40 episodes would've been the perfect length. See spoiler comment below for my thoughts on the ending:
loved everything about this show, but FL trope got over used at the end, kind of made the character super annoying,…
I agree, NiaoNiao not forgiving Ling Buyi felt like it took *forever*. The best part of part 2 was when Niao Niao and her family tried to save Ling Buyi. In my opinion, they should had Ling Buyi come back to life, gotten them married, and ended the drama. The ending dragged like crazy, and felt like the writers were just throwing stuff in to fill time.
So there are two Chinese versions of BOF? one that was telecasted in 2001 and then in 2018? What's the difference?
This version is made by mainland China, while 2001 is Taiwanese. The two productions have the same producer and same plot, but the ML is less of a jerk in this version.
Wait this isn't just good for a short web drama, it's just good overall.
the part where the FL ate the "bossy CEO" food had me rolling. The actress nailed all of the mannerisms perfectly. I also felt weirdly attracted to her at that part, which means she did a good job
I was not expecting this to be as good as it was. As a lower-budgrt web drama, it managed to mimic the feel of a big-budget production-- especially towards the end. The acting is good, the story is interesting, and Ling Chang Jin has a really cool character arc. Honestly the big-budget productions of 2023 should be embarrassed that this drama did so much better than they. It's not perfect, mainly meaning that the story/directing aren't always super clear about what's going on, and the ending offers no explanations, but I'm willing to forgive these minor oversights because it's a web drama and they didn't detract from my enjoyment of it.
omg, I just found out the female lead is younger than me!! And I thought she was older like a 93 liner
Sometimes they cast younger actors with more experienced actors so the former can learn from the latter. That's definitely not always why, but it plays a factor
How much romance is in this drama? i don't normally watch this type of drama, so I don't want to waste my time if there's not enough romance to interest me.
Reasons to watch this drama:-Zheng An is a cute, handsome, flirty, charming, clingy and caring boyfriend. Love…
Every director needs to watch this drama and take notes. Its pacing is literally perfect. It may not be the greatest cdrama ever (even if it is one of my favorites), but you can't deny that it doesn't drag at all. That's unheard of in the cdrama world.
