Giving it an 8 because it ends on a cliffhanger for the overall story. It has an unsatisfactory ending for the…
Ok I was worried about this. I'm on episode 11 and the story is starting to drag. I've been suspicious that the leads don't really have any romantic scenes together, which is a dealbreaker for me. The story starts out interesting, but it drags so much that it's gotten boring. The ML is superb, the FL is fine-- I've got nothing against Ju Jing Yi, she's just not really striking in this role. I liked the first actress better. I noticed on youtube that it looks like the second couple has more romantic scenes than the lead couple. That's another dealbreaker for me.
So thanks for your comment, because it told me what I needed to know so I can drop this one and move on. It had a strong start, but I'm not interested enough in the mystery to keep watching if the lead couple doesn't have enough payoff. It's a shame because it was a cool premise.
It really depends on your dealbreakers. This one has pretty much every contract marriage trope in the book. However, the romance itself is sweet and not frustrating. If you hate predictable dramas/contract marriage tropes, then I would skip this one. If you don't mind them or they're not dealbreakers for you, I'd recommend giving this one a shot. There are some tropes I hate and others I love. One of the tropes I love is contract marriage, so this one worked for me
I thought this one was better. The leads have more chemistry in this one than The Love You Give Me. However, TLYGM has fewer tropes (though that's really not hard to do).
Overall a good watch. I skipped the work stuff because work storylines in dramas remind me too much of my own job. It's a nice short, easy watch if you just watch the romance. I understand the hype around the leads' relationship now-- they have great chemistry and a healthy adult relationship. Parts of the drama feel a little slow, but not as bad as most dramas
Yeah most cdramas are draggy and slow. Only the real gems aren't, and even they have their draggy parts. Modern…
Personally, I wouldn't consider the politics and court intrigue as dragging, just a topic that is uninteresting to you. Other people like politics and court intrigue. I feel you though, I have to specifically seek out dramas that are mainly romances with a bit of other things thrown in because that's what I like. Politics and court intrigue bore me to death.
This is literally the perfect xianxia. I was afraid to re-watch it initially for fead I wouldn't enjoy it as much the second time around, but I was wrong! It really is that good! NO draggy parts whatsoever (the beginning may seem draggy but it's important to the rest of the drama), fantastic acting, really awesome fight scenes, a FL who actually is strong and independent (instead of needing to be saved in every fight), awesome chemistry, interesting plot, unexpected twists and turns, and literally the most perfect ending I've ever seen. This is the new golden standard for xianxia. It's like they took all the mistakes they made in past xianxias and fixed them in this one, which is commendable. How will any other drama live up to this one??
Rewatching again and I love it ❤️ Still don't understand why the Maria/ the blonde guy etc are even this.…
They're in it because they're historical figures from the time. The author of the original novel got her degree in history and wrote the story primarily to teach about Thai history. So while they're not relevant to the plot, they're relevant to the time period.
This was my second-ever lakorn. I'm kind of embarrassed at how many times I've watched it. It's a soap opera in every sense of the word: a secret, evil, promiscuous, identical twin, a jerk ML, lots of murder, and so much more. You don't watch this one for it to be good-- you watch it as a very entertaining dumpster fire. I love me some over-the-top melodramas.
This cdrama is in my top three favorites. It's a drama that knows exactly what it's about. The storytelling, directing, chemistry, and cast all understand the assignment. It's one of my most rewatched cdramas. It's not for everyone, but it's my go-to feel-good drama.
This drama is an example of an ok plot/premise being made better by charismatic leads, good chemistry, humor, and self-awareness. When I think about the plot too much I don't like it, but I kept watching for the humor and the leads and I was not disappointed.
I didn't believe people when they said that there's a lot of eating in this drama, but I was proven wrong. They really do eat like every other scene. It's not a bad thing, but I had to have snacks on hand because all the food made me hungry.
