Just the plot summary for this is better than 80% of existing BL series afshsjdbdkdk I hope it delivers🤞It’s always so refreshing to see something that is not relying on fan service moments and doesn’t have a premise right out of wattpad.

Also Netflix Empress of Flames is supposed to air this year as well. I feel like there are a lot of series with similar historical premises coming right now, so it’s interesting to see how this saturation will affect things. Love upon a Time just aired too.

In the original version the characters look older and more mature. I wonder if GMMTV can pull this off without making it seem like a teen/YA show. Fingers crossed🤞

I agree. There is a lot of shows but most of them are not good. BL fans tend to have some of the lowest standards for shows that I’ve ever seen. Minimum effort series can often be very profitable for companies as fans watch anything with their faves in it. Throw in a bit of cheap off-screen fan service and popularity is almost guaranteed. I hope as the quantity of shows keeps increasing people will start to seriously become more selective and develop standards so that producers will have a reason to improve🙏Payback is a positive development as it is clear they invested in both script and production.

I’m no expert but I don’t think keeping a production company alive nominally costs that much (if anything). So could be simply for cosmetic reasons.

If Mike has plans to produce a new project in the future it would probably have to be less ambitious
and smaller in
scale. Also any pilot trailer would not really be taken seriously anymore unless they already had funding secured and filming locked in. I don’t think there is anything planned tbh but I’m open to being surprised lol

They did indeed have a good budget but it’s super rare.

They will probably work together again because they are from the same company. I kinda hope we would get more project-based temporary pairings though because it signals the project is more prestige as opposed to just a vehicle for the actor ship brand (series as the main product versus actor ship as the main product)

Fantasy is my favourite but I’m always worried because it requires big investment that Thailand is still kinda reluctant to give to Bls, despite their popularity.

Ngl, I got tonal whiplash from the trailer. There is a lot of switching between serious drama and typical Thai romcom. I wish they knew that they can do mm romance within a serious genre framework without having to resort to clichés. Still, I’m happy we are getting more diverse concepts now.

The good thing is that the worst ones are eventually gonna stop being made because viewers have limited time and will have to become more selective. In like 2019 there was still so little quantity that many people watched basically everything. You have to stand out more and more with your show if you don’t want people to stand it up in favor of something else.

Probably because the project is not happening anymore, or at least not with the original cast. I mean it’s been pretty obvious for a while as Mike has not mentioned the project for like a year now.
