Btw do you mind posting the link for the casting call?
I see it’s not under Hanyang anymore (which makes sense as they allegedly went bankrupt)I think it is hilarious that there is movement now after over a year of silence right after Jeff said not to wait for Wuju Bakery anymore 😂😂
https://www.filmmakers.co.kr/actorCasting/27021334 Apparently they are looking for a child actor for Wu Ju, so…
Imagine the chaos if they surprise drop Wuju Bakery next year just as Barcode’s or Jeff’s new show is about to air😂I wouldn’t be surprised if there is no warning for them.
I have to reluctantly agree with you on the notion that the ideal timing for Happy Ending series to air has passed.…
Aww thank you:)sometimes I worry if I come across as negative or a spoilsport by pointing out concerns but I try to look at things realistically, partly also in order to manage my own expectations. Of course I might be wrong about some things but we will see.
Jeff is in a catch 22 with this series: he hasn't been able to take a break from all the shows, etc. to get HES…
I have to reluctantly agree with you on the notion that the ideal timing for Happy Ending series to air has passed. Of course it can still do well when and if it airs sometime in the distant future, but much of the initial hype seems to have died down. Many of my friends were initially looking forward to this series, but at this point I’m the only one still waiting, the others have moved on. This seems to be the general trend as well (especially now that new shows were announced for both Jeff and Barcode and there seems to be more actual movement there)
If the show had not been delayed so much they could really have capitalized on the residual hype from KP the series and Kimchay, especially as people were so feral about them not getting proper closure. That won’t be possible anymore, let alone in a couple of years. Furthermore, even though I do not personally care about established actor pairs and actor ships at all, the fact that GMMTV will probably go all out on promoting Barcode and Kinn as an actor ship in the traditional sense ( because that is the main selling point of GMMTV BLs) it is bound to cause some issues in the future when/if J and Bc eventually try to do their comeback with HE- we know how many fans are. Be On Cloud never really focused on promoting actor ships (they always focused on the craft more) which gave the artists a lot more freedom imo, as Jeff was able to act with Keng and Barcode with Ta/JJ without any issues arising.
Of course I’m not blaming SoS about any of this, what they are trying to do is really difficult. My main point is though that when it comes to series and their success timing can be everything. Bad shows can become huge hits with the right timing (cough cough Together the series) whereas excellent productions can become overlooked and underrated if the timing is not ideal. I know Jeff is a perfectionist, but it can end up biting him in the foot here if he ends up polishing the script for 3 years. For purposes of comparison, the window for when a succesful KP s2 could have been launched has long since closed and even if Wuju Bakery had aired this year there is no denying that the reception would have been way less enthusiastic than in early 2024 when it was initially supposed to air and the anticipation was at its peak. I wonder if HE might end up facing similar issues.
And finally, there is my own excitement. Ngl, compared to 2024 when the pilot aired (I was so fucking hyped back then :D) it has cooled down significantly. I wonder how much interest I will have in 2027 or 2028 (because let’s be honest there is no way they can air this next year).I really think two years should be the absolute maximum between pilot and release.
This is one of the best BL shows ever made and the rating is why I don't trust ratings or reviews on this website
I feel like a big part of MDL ratings at least when it comes to BL involve people rating how ”moral” they think the relationship presented is. Whenever there is some grey areas or the characters are not the epitome of healthy romance the ratings tend to go down. Hira and Kiyoi are very complex characters and their relationship and dynamic is not the ideally sweet romance, so that immediately will put some people off. If I remember correctly Kinnporsche too has only like a rating of 8, and that too is definetly not an objectively fair rating haha.
The director of this movie is really famous in Japan. It’s always nice to see high profile people involved in BL projects because then you know people are serious about it.
GMMTV saved the best stories for bromance. For the BLs, what remained were the mediocre stories.
This is the exact reason why I’m against bromance. No BL will be given good plot in the future if they can just allocate them to bromances instead. All in all it is a genre that should not exist as there is no straight equivalent. Never do we see a show where they intentionally create tension between a male and a female character and then just make them remain platonic friends.
I don’t know how to feel about this…..😬Especially if this comes out before Happy Ending. People might accuse the HE team of copying when it is the other way around.
Also why voice actor, this is not an anime
