Maybe the announcement serves kind of like a pitch similar to how Vamp pilot did but with less money involvedš¤A…
Iāve noticed we havenāt really seen much flashy pilots from smaller studios since 2024.I guess cases like Red Peafowl and Mikeās and Jeffās projects made studios more cautious as these did not move into production as intended. Depending on whether First and Ohm succeed in their experiment, it might affect if people try to create branded pairs āin advanceā in the future as well.
I donāt think this project ever got formally greenlit tbh. The pilot was basically a proof-of-concept meant to pitch the show to investors. The fact that only Jeff occasionally mentions it after all this time with no production partner or other crew added and the rest of the cast moving on/not mentioning HE anymore is not very reassuringš Also the way Jeff keeps giving timelines that are obviously not rooted in any production reality and his schedule is packed with new projects that have taken priorityā¦ā¦.My current interpretation is that this is something he really wanted to make and they tried developing it to a point but it did not work out so now SOS is trying to figure out how to backtrack with the least amount of reputational damage.
My Ex Is An Idol?... I gotta say, what a boring premise after waiting for "Vamp" forever. A slight variant…
Maybe the announcement serves kind of like a pitch similar to how Vamp pilot did but with less money involvedš¤A series is not greenlit until there is an official announcement from a production partner. Or who knows, maybe they try to produce it themslevesš
Still my favourite JBLšItās interesting that my favourite BLs on MDL are mostly rated somewhere between 7.5 and 8.4 maxš¤Whenever I watch something rated higher than that I never end up liking itšMaybe there is a tendency here to give ācomfortingā or ārelationship goalsā shows high ratings while more complex dynamics are not so appreciated (which is fair, everyone has their own system for rating). I found Hiraās self-esteem issues and his tendency to put Kiyoi on a pedestal so interesting, as well as how that affected their relationship over time. I guess Iām only drawn to a series if the characters are complex enough that you could write meta and character-studies about them, which you canāt really do with your average cute and traditionally wholesome BL. Utsukare, Kinnporsche and Semantic error are my holy BL trinity :D (also what was in the water in 2021-2022, like whatever it was please put it back haha)
How did you guys get bromance from the trailer pls explain cause to me it just looks like Ryu is going to fall…
To me it gave the vibe that Johan might have comphet and be more closetedāwe shall see. But yeah, nothing bromance about it lol Even if there was zero romantic feelings between the leads at all (which I donāt believe is the case here), it would still not be a bromance because bromance is a category describing a close platonic dynamic between two straight guys.
To me it is very clear from the trailer that this is not a bromance but a semi-tragic love story. That being said, I understand the worry of some people because bromance used to be so common and has recently been pushed again elsewhere. That kind of stuff creates trust issues, which is why it is so harmful. As we can see now, people who have been baited before are expecting to get baited again even though all evidence points against itš It is sad that actual queer series ends up being doubted due to broader industry practises and tendenciesš
reassuringš Also the way Jeff keeps giving timelines that are obviously not rooted in any production

Good decision. This should have been on some other platform from the start.
