Asking purely out of curiosity: to anyone out there that does not want to watch Melancholia because it deals with a student that falls in love with his teacher; is it because you feel like you condone such a relationship simply by watching a drama?

I'm stuck on ep 7 because I can't bear to watch the tragedy go down. It did make me read up on the historical events around it though, which was good.

Looking at your list I'd say this one & happiness of the ones currently airing, then you're covered in terms of romance and thriller. Let me know if you like historical dramas too then I'll have a few more suggestions for you :)

No romance so far, while he does obviously harbor feelings of admiration and affection toward her. I'm a big fan of Lee Do Hyun as well and suggest you watch it!

I think you'll like this as it's quite comedic, very romantic and not too heavy on the political/ powerplay aspect and is shot beautifully! I think after watching the first 2-3 episodes you'll be able to make a verdict if this is your kind of drama.

So far I find Melancholia absolutely beautiful (didn't expect anything less), even though I'm not the biggest fan of corruption & intrigues in shows. There's something magical imo to seeing how our leads view the world through math. Considering the information provided in the synopsis though, I didn't think it would take more than 3 episodes before the false rumor is spread + we fast forward a few years. Not complaining though as I see why this build up is necessary, just an observation.

I think so too. I saw someone saying they think he’s the real crown prince because of the scar that was to be seen on his chest when he was injured, but then it confuses me as to why he initially tried to attack Yeon Seon when they were hunting at the beginning of the show. I guess we’re gonna have to wait to find out

Hahah okay got it. I was indeed referring to the handsome bodyguard. I read some theories about him in the comments a while ago and I can’t unsee it now.

Oh, I didn't even notice him during the entire episode after the crown prince left the palace. Thanks for pointing that out! :)

I'm really curious to see how the residual 8 episodes are gonna go. For once I'm not trying to predict what's going to happen next and I almost... don't even want to know? I'm just thoroughly enjoying watching each episode pass by.

Also, I read some critique here and there on how The King's Affection seems to differ a lot from other historical dramas in that it feels like a "modernized version" and that it's not very heavy on the political side of things. And from a historical standpoint; I understand. But personally, I think that is what makes me love this drama even more.

While Ji Woon and the Yeon Seon were being chased in the woods I was waiting for the bodyguard to pop out of nowhere at any second and help them fight off the guards. But he was nowhere to be found?

I ended up not skipping anything, but I might have enjoyed it more if I did. But yes episode 14 was perfection to me too! Actually I liked the first 2 and the last one the best so far.

I will say I wish the both of them had more screen time together. I can't seem to care that much about everything that's going on in the museum. Until the most recent episodes I didn't find the employees very sympathetic either. Does anyone else feel the same way?
