Wow, did you and I watch the same drama? When does the FL ever make the ML jealous? When does the FL ever want…
I do understand what you are saying and I have read every single one of comments. What I am arguing is that if you want one love interest and no love "triangles" as you put it. Then, this drama is not for you. You say the writers wanted to give the female lead a harem. That is not true. A harem is a man or woman who actively pursues multiple partners at the same time. NaioNaio never does this. A love triangle means one man or woman who loves multiple people and must decide which one they want. Again, NaioNaio never has this. She never loves Ling Bu Yi and Luo Yao at the same time. She even comments on this when the marriage proposal from Ling Bu Yi happens.
I just started rewatching too!!! I think her mother's depiction is realistic. She came back and realized that…
Actually mom at the beginning of the quarrel does a wonderful job of being fair. She allows NaioNaio to discipline her own maid and question Yang Yang's maid. She goes overboard when she calls a halt to the punishing of Yang Yang's maids. This makes NaioNaio mad and then gives her mother the equity speech. The next scene is of the 3rd aunt and the mom talking about punishing the maids. Notice you never see them again, just the maid who stood up for NaioNaio's maid. The following scenes are all about the difference between equality and equity. They are not the same. On the outside it appears that the mom favors Yang Yang, but in reality she knows that Yang Yang is the one who needs to be protected. NaioNaio can defend herself and is much like her. The final paddling is NaioNaio realizing and learning she must accept responsibility for her actions. She is now ready to go out into the world.
Wow, did you and I watch the same drama? When does the FL ever make the ML jealous? When does the FL ever want…
Thanks, you have just proved my point! You're mad because the girl isn't following the rules of love according to the tropes. Yuan and Ling Bu Yi force NaioNaio to love them or believe that she should love them just because she caught Yuan's embroidery ball and Ling Bu Yi risked his life to save her twice. What does catching an embroidery ball have to do with love? Ling Bu Yi is a general in the army isn't his job to protect the common people? The only male who never forces her to love him or expects her to love him is Luo Yao. That's why his character is so important to the story. It is why he is there. You can't take him out.
Wow, did you and I watch the same drama? When does the FL ever make the ML jealous? When does the FL ever want…
Tejas, actually it's those tropes that the story is challenging. Do people fall in love at first sight or can love come slowly? Is the female lead obligated to love the male lead just because he saved her twice? Isn't it his job to protect the common people as a general of the army? Does she have to marry Yuan because she caught his embroidery ball? This female character is challenging these tropes. The only character who did not ask anything of her or force her to love him was Yao. She did that on her own. It's what I love about this drama and makes it unique. There are no unneeded scenes or characters in this drama. I can't say the same for the second season however.
Wow, did you and I watch the same drama? When does the FL ever make the ML jealous? When does the FL ever want…
That's okay. I dropped it at the beginning as well because I couldn't get past the grandmother. However, after watching so many other disappointing dramas, I came back to this one. Once I watched the whole thing, I realized why all the build up. The second season mirrors the first, but at the palace level. It really is one of the best dramas out there as far as storytelling and the message it is trying to convey. Zhao Lu Si always plays a character who goes against the societal beliefs of the time. This character does this and more.
Wow, did you and I watch the same drama? When does the FL ever make the ML jealous? When does the FL ever want…
I apologize I just saw this. If you do not like dramas where the ml and the fl do not instantly fall in love with each other, don't watch this drama. This drama takes all the tropes of a love story and turns them upside down. The male lead will suffer from what appears to be a one-sided romance as the female lead (who has never been shown love) learns to define love on her own terms and tries to gain autonomy over her own life.
Despite what everyone is writing, there are no love triangles. Three men like the female lead. They actively pursue her. The female lead never actively pursues any of them, especially at the same time. She tries numerous times to get away from them. She follows the Cheng family rule of one man/one woman at a time.
The break up episodes as kalarro wrote start at 19 and end at 21. If it were up to the female lead, she would not have broken off the engagement. Once they break up there are no flashback scenes of their relationship. Does this mean it wasn't love or is this the purest kind of love? That is what this drama is all about.
You don't want the male lead to suffer, but what about the female lead? Why should she have to marry someone she doesn't love even though he does save her twice? Does this make her obligated to love him and marry him? I say no. Isn't it the duty of the army to keep the common people safe?
If you want the same old story and tropes, then don't watch this drama. Watch I Hear You, Dating in the Kitchen, Please Feel at Ease Mr. Ling, Prodigy Healer, Gen Z, Who Rules the World, Hidden Love, etc. This is if you are a Zhao Lu Si fan.
Wow, did you and I watch the same drama? When does the FL ever make the ML jealous? When does the FL ever want…
Good, I'm glad, but it really isn't a one-sided romance. I think after you see the whole drama, you will realize that there is more going on with their relationship than what you see on the surface (the tropes of the genre).
I have read the novel and there was no indication that the ML was flirting with FL while she was still in middle…
I understand what you are saying. However, in the final episode. There is a scene where the brother and he are talking about the school issue (the very last episode). The brother advises DJX not to go, yet DJX went anyway. What I want to know is why that scene? We have gone through the whole drama and learned about all the characters. Why cycle back to this scene? I have some ideas, but people on here would take it wrong.
Wow, did you and I watch the same drama? When does the FL ever make the ML jealous? When does the FL ever want…
I am not mocking any of the shows I listed. What I am saying is that every rom-com out there is about how quickly the characters fall in love. In Love Like a Galaxy, the male lead does not fall in love with the female lead instantly. He only finds her interesting at first. He is watching her to see if she is like other girls. Watch the scene where he saves her from the fire and then where he saves her in the palace. These scenes are the same, but are very different in attitude. Also, she is already in love with him before the "torture" scene, but the male lead does not realize that because he is so focused on his own agenda.
Again, Love Like a Galaxy is not your typical rom-com drama. It goes above and beyond. Again, my suggestion is to rewatch from beginning to end. The second season mirrors the first season. Hence the two twirl scenes. Pay attention to camera angles, dialogue, placement of people, etc. Everything contributes to the story. The chemistry is there, but the female lead is not ready for that kind of intimacy. She has never experienced love on any level and must define it for herself.
Wow, did you and I watch the same drama? When does the FL ever make the ML jealous? When does the FL ever want…
I understand now. You want a drama where the tropes are present from the very beginning. The man rescuing the woman and they "fall in love instantly". You want a drama that develops the love story after they "fall in love". You want something more like I Hear You, Hidden Love, Please Feel at Ease Mr. Ling, or Dating in the Kitchen, Who Rules the World, The Flower Crew, My Love from the Stars, A Class of Her Own, Truth or Dare, The Forbidden Marriage, Love in the Moonlight, Goblin, etc. Do you get my point? You want every rom-com out there.
Love Like a Galaxy takes these types of love stories and challenges many of the love genre tropes and then some. It was quite refreshing and added something new to the genre. After watching this it is hard for me to watch anything else. Everything about this story was carefully done. Is it perfect, no. There are at least two places where the story falls short. The scene in the hunting cabin where she just gives up and sleeps instead of rebuilding her weapons and episode 55 and the burial vault sequence (season 2).
I haven't completed the whole show, just this first season, but I have no clue what you mean by the high ratings.…
I agree with about A'Yao. Do you realize that when the two break off the engagement there are no flashbacks! I am wondering why this might be so. Are they saying they were not in love or are they saying this is the purest form of love and viewers do not need a reminder of it like they do with LBY and Yuan?
I finally decided to watch this show even knowing it has some annoying things. But it is clear to me that most…
Wow, did you and I watch the same drama? When does the FL ever make the ML jealous? When does the FL ever want a harem? What scenes are you talking about? The FL is trying very hard to stay away from men. They keep pursuing her. Luo Yao literally follows her to Hua County. Ling Bu Yi races to save her multiple times. Yuan tries a different tactic by becoming her teacher. Not once does the female lead chase after any of them. Also, she never has more than one guy at a time. She follows the rules of the Cheng family (one wife, one husband at time).
If you want a harem, look at the actions of 5th princess (second season). If you want to see jealousy look at consort Yue and Ling Bu Yi's (mother, aunt) (second season). First season all of the noble girls who are chasing after Ling Bu Yi. That's jealousy. Ling Bu Yi never is jealous of the other males in NaioNaio's life because he understands the role they play, especially Luo Yao. He even talks to NaioNaio about Luo Yao's role in her life (can't remember if that is first or second season). He talks to Yuan about Yuan's role in her life (second season last episode). I suggest you rewatch this drama from beginning to end as this whole drama is about her gaining autonomy over her own life and accomplishments.
She sounds like that to differentiate her role between a high schooler and an adult, her sounds will get matured…
I have to disagree with you. I feel her voice never really sounds like she grows up, not even after she graduates from college. I have heard her voice in other dramas (and it does not sound like that) and wondered if it was the director's or her idea to sound immature even though she is grown. I am wondering the reason for it.
Many people recommended this drama so i tried to watch it but i cat get over ep 3. dont get me wrong i love the…
Zhao Lu Si is very good at making her voice sound like a high schooler (15-17). However, I feel her voice does not mature over the course of the story as it should. There is only one time where I feel her voice matched her age, and it is the scene where she fights with the girl who is stalking ML. If you really want to watch it because of Zhao Lu Si, watch it with the sound off. That's what I did and made it through it. However, did not find the story intriguing. My favorite character is the brother. I want to know what he is hiding.
How did she survive the poison in the end?? They never showed anything about that.
I am sure that she took the pill that Jung Ji Woon made for her that helped to calm her when she was nervous. This would have slowed down the poison. Since he is a physician, he would be able to give her an antidote.
This might be a hit or a miss.If you just started watching k drama, like having watched a couple of kdramas, this…
I disagree with you. I started watching kdramas a year ago. Just found this one and love it. I also watched Jewel in the Palace and enjoyed it. But I must say many dramas go on too long even some of the short ones. Whether modern or older, it depends on how the story is told.
you know i spoiled myself the ending by watching the last minutes of the last ep seriously we should watch 56…
This is what I love about this drama. It takes the wedding scene and turns it upside-down. These two had a wedding in the final episode (General Huo in his black cape and NaioNaio in her red cape). You just missed it because it was not a traditional wedding. Nothing about their relationship was/is traditional. Why ruin it with a traditional wedding sequence! They do have a wedding, a beautiful one in my opinion. Both are dressed in the outfits they had on at the lantern festival where they first met face to face. They are out under the stars in a military camp. They are holding hands facing each other. Then they proceed to tell each other their vows. It is just them, which is the way it should be. Happy rewatching!
