Here’s why I think Miji is the endgame. This whole drama feels like a series of cheap tactics to stop HJP and SDM from getting together too soon.
Imagine a story about an orphaned homeless boy who is taken in by a kind old woman. She asks him to be her granddaughter’s pen-pal. The granddaughter falls head over heels for him. Years later he meets the two of them again and falls in love with the granddaughter. He then spends most of the story yearning for her and doing everything he can for her without her knowing who he is. Eventually they end up together.
It all sounds very romantic but there are a lot of details that would need ironing out. Why doesn’t she know who he is? Why doesn’t he tell her? Why is he yearning for her instead of telling her how he feels and pursuing her?
The writer has also got the problem of having to make it last 16 episodes. It feels like she’s trying to tell the story I described but in the easiest way she can think of, even if that means cutting corners and making up nonsense.
If I’m right, of course I’ll be happy when HJP ends up with SDM but I’ll also think it’s a shame that the writer didn’t tell the story better.
If I’m wrong, then this drama makes no sense to me. Why resort to such absurdities (do I need to list them?) just to tell a love story about two young people falling for each other on their shared journey through the business world? I’d have liked that story too but this aint it.
Examples of absurdities if you need them-
The fake NDS from the letters. Just why? Oh yes because otherwise SDM might figure out who HJP is too early in the story. Also, HJP can’t be her age or actually fall in love with her at this point otherwise they’d stay in touch. Is all that just to lead her to NDS? Why not have them meet in a normal way if NDS is the main love interest?
Grandma asking HJP to find the real NDS to pretend to be the fake NDS. Such an unbelievable choice but necessary for HJP to get involved in SDM’s life without her knowing who he is. Not necessary for NDS to get involved in SDM's life. If this is meant to be the NDSxSDM love story I mentioned above then they could've met at Sandbox. No need for this mess.
Sweet, innocent, nerdy NDS pretending to be someone he’s not. I find NDS to be a very unbelievable character. He’s meant to be shy, awkward, insecure, nice but also a big fat liar and a cheat. Unless he was actually meant to be some kind of creep why does he pretend to be someone else when he knows how much it would mean to SDM? I know many have used this against him but the thing is, his character isn’t meant to be like that, it’s just that the only way someone would do something like that is if they were a weirdo. So his character makes no sense. The writer needed him to be someone SDM could fall for and who Grandma and HJP would let her fall for but also someone who would tell a serious lie and then maintain that lie for a prolonged period of time. Hence why he makes no sense. Is he like that for his own storyline? Is it necessary if he’s the main love interest? No, it’s beyond dumb if he’s the main love interest. Not only would it be nonsensical but it would be nonsensical for no reason. It’s only necessary for HJP’s storyline.
To name a few.
Edit: I've also realised that it has got less nonsensical since she found out the truth. Now that she has fallen for NDS there's no need for her to be in the dark anymore. Her feelings for NDS will be enough to keep her and HJP apart for the next few episodes.
I’m not really seeing the point of the revenge storyline. I wonder if that’s what NDS and HJP are fighting about in the next episode. I don’t think the writer threw it in to make HJP look bad. If anything it’s made him look more sympathetic because now he has that on his conscience.
I don't really have anything to say about today's episode, I literally just came here today to give moral support to Miji fans. SDM clearly had the aha moment for NDS which was to be expected at this point in the story but let's wait and see what the next five episodes bring.
I still think HJP is endgame. I'm looking forward to all the angst tomorrow. I choose to believe that the writer is making HJP suffer now because she'll make it up to him (and us) later.
Strong actors rarely get overshadowed... Just looks at hospital playlist... Every one of them are amazing actors…
I was thinking of when another character is written better. Maybe I shouldn't have said 'probably'. I didn't really think about how likely it is but I stand by that it's happened to some of the best loved actors. This drama is a case in point.
I feel like we've been so invested in this character and rooting for him so much that we'll feel completely cheated if he doesn't end up with SDM. It's not just the disappointment of our ship not sailing but the let down after all this nervousness and excitement that the character has created. I don't think we just did it to ourselves. I'm sure we've made it worse for ourselves but even if I'd stayed away from the comments and the fan theories I'd still be totally hooked by this character and getting more and more nervous for him every week. I hope the writer knew what she was doing and gives us the payoff.
Maybe the reason so much points to HJP at the moment (at least it does if you've been paying attention to MarhMarh@Jeonggal) is because SDM still favours the old Dosan from the letters. Now that the truth is out, things might take a turn and everything will start building up towards Dodal ending. We might be about to see a shift in the story. This doesn't completely explain all the creative choices so far but I felt like I should voice my doubts since I've been voicing my hopes an awful lot.
There will probably come a day when KSH is the main lead and will get outshone himself by the second lead. It's hard to imagine but it happens to the best of them.

Edit: I blame her if we all end up disappointed. Always shift the blame.
MarhMarh just gave us another one.
