Thanks for the additional information - that's helpful background. I would differ with the opinion that it simply comes down to women selling their bodies for money, though. I personally know several women who have been surrogates and they all did it because they had had easy pregnancies before and the couples couldn't get pregnant on their own. They had to have counseling ahead of time and medical professionals followed all of them very closely the whole way through. This is a more complex issue than just human trafficking and it has a lot to do with infertility and the desire to have a child.
I appreciate the information about it being banned in certain countries because of the risk of further exploitation of poor women by rich foreigners, and that is absolutely unacceptable in any circumstance. Where there are specific protective laws and strong protocols in place surrogacy can be done well. If there aren't these protections for people, for poor women in particular, then a law banning it outright is probably the right course of action.

I need to make crystal clear, though, that I'm not advocating going out of country for surrogacy but staying in one's own country - for protections through the law and continuity of care through the medical services. There are just too many risks for exploitation if someone leaves their country for this. But at the same time, if a country bans surrogacy, then they should help couples (and single people and folks in same-gender marriages) be able to adopt children as well.

This is the most "slice of life" movie I've maybe ever seen. It's a good reminder that much of life is spent outwardly silent, with one's thoughts, or in the small movements that make up a day. It's the opposite of fast-paced, and it does take some attention and patience to watch it. But if you can be patient, there are interesting and even sweetly profound moments that happen throughout.

Does this clear up any of the confusion left by the ending to the original Lost Days?

Recommend away! I've seen 54 dramas and 23 movies so far so I might have seen some of what you recommend, and my to-watch list is ever-growing. (I've seen almost two hundred K-dramas and movies and a whole bunch of TW-dramas so I'm just catching up with Japanese media.) I keep a loooong watch list so any recommendation is accepted. Dramas and films both.

I don't love all the live-action adaptations though, especially because people seem to always hate them because they don't match their expectations. I prefer original stories, and I do really appreciate the tones of J-doramas in general.

I still love K-dramas and I won't abandon them forever, but I'm taking a break for a bit. Taiwanese dramas can also hit all the right notes, and I enjoy those too.

And thanks for this too! I tried to watch Still the Water on Dramacool, but the picture quality was terrible. I managed to make it through the whole thing, but that was some of the worst uploading quality I've ever seen. For what I could see of it, I recommend it. He's wonderful in that role.

Thanks for the list! I do prefer darker, more mature dramas in general. I don't always watch as much violence as AiB, in fact would prefer not to, but I definitely like more serious dramas....and I also love sweet romance stories too. Honestly I like romance sprinkled into everything - just like in life. LOL.

What have been your favorites so far this season? I'm still catching up. I just finished Alice in Borderland a few days ago. I don't know what your opinion is about that one, but I loved it so much and I'm still processing it. It reminded me a lot of The Hunger Games - the books more than the movies - and darker. So much to sift through, especially around trauma and guilt, especially survivor's guilt. The acting was 100% all the way around and the cinematography was out of this world. (Plus I got a new fave in Murakami Nijiro and now I'm trying to watch as many of his works as I can find. )

I also really want to see the new drama about COVID that I just saw the trailer for yesterday. I hope it gets subbed and put somewhere where I can see it. It seems like a good one for Netflix, actually.

I keep thinking that the J-dorama fans here should have a group chat or whatever the equivalent is here on this site....for moral support. LOL

Huh?! How did you get that from my comment. You were making a big deal about how Korean dramas are all getting cancelled by netizens so you were going to start watching C-dramas....which are WAY more censored, in every way, by the government.
And you made a grand declaration that the end of the Korean entertainment industry is upon us, and I was curious what by what authority you're making those claims....

It's interesting too, you complaining about K-netizens and then wanting to watch incredibly censored C-dramas....
