I disagree with the "Smart Female Lead" tag. I dropped the show once at episode 35 and years later dropped it again at the same point. This girl is an idiot who agrees with pretty much anyone somewhat capable of thinking logically who also speaks with confidence. Pretty much every single intelligent thing she says throughout the series is just what has been said to her from other people. I can't think of a single intelligent thought she had on her own.
She literally sided with a person who was killing innocent people from the place she was from. When that guy was killed she said it was wrong for that to have happened.... but again that guy was killing people close to her / jailing others while she was happily wanting to drink tea with him.
The pace is just too quick so everything felt rushed. I feel it probably would've been the best version of the story if they had just made it into a drama instead of a movie. Which is why I rated it a 7 out of 10 when I could easily see it being a 10 out of 10 if it were a drama.
Looking forward to starting this. I am curious, how angsty and swoony is the romance? (Edit to clarify: I would…
The second paragraph of the description makes it seem like there will be some revenge but there is pretty much none of that. Zero angst, just really really really boring melodramatic self pity stuff. I dropped the show after episode 7 so not sure how it is after that but it was pretty much the same show from episode 2 to 7 so I doubt it is going to change.
8.5 for me, would've been maybe 9 or 9.5 with a slightly different ending.
You people watch melodramas and then are surprised that the drama is melodramatic. I think the show was good, I wish they made the ending more clear but the eventual outcome is still obvious.
Ana's comment from like 5 posts down explains the ending decently.
Did anyone feel like the editing was weird i felt like some parts were cut the sequence was off at some places…
Did you watch episodes until the end? Near the end of an episode it starts showing stuff like the episode actually ended but then it continues back to the current episode.
10/10 for me. I like how her revenge seems actually realistic for the situation everyone was in. The only thing I felt was ridiculous was Song Hye Kyo's old teacher and his son in the hospital.
For everyone saying they just weren't right for each other you must've been watching a different show. The writers wanted an unhappy ending so they did stupid stuff to make that happen like having a note the girl left for him fly under a drawer.
If they wanted to go a realistic direction they would've ended up together.
Someone who watched ep 16, pls spoil me if its worth it or should i just take ep 15 as the ending
I wouldn't say it was the worst ending possible but I definitely would've preferred a different direction. My rating was a 7.5 while it was like a 9.5 at episode 10ish and a 8.5 at episode 14ish.
Dropped the show at episode 15 while I sped through episode 14. I rated it a 6 but honestly that was probably to high, definitely never going to try to rewatch this.
Somewhat interesting concept just really boring with horrible female lead and not so interesting male lead. I literally forced myself to watch 20 episodes with little enjoyment before I gave up. Even though the concept is pretty interesting it also is part of the problem since conflicts continue to happen because they can't be fixed without more problems happening. It is literally like the worst possible drama in existence with characters never explaining their actions.
It is tagged slow burn which kind of is an accurate tag, until it wasn't. She suddenly was in a love with him and the first time she shows her mutual feelings was the most ridiculous place for her character, a book reading that she suddenly gets the responsibility to lead, so she is literally in front of all the people attending it holding hands with the main guy when she is presented as a very professional worker. That completely goes against her character from every previous episode and the guy's also a bit since he wouldn't risk ruining the thing when she is responsible for it either.
Some people have said they are unsatisfied with the ending but I liked it a lot. Too many of these chinese dramas feel like they are just adding episodes for no reason. Seriously who cares about the non leads? Definitely not me.
was okay but got tired of this girl making an ugly face 24/7 just ruins the show completely for me since no one would ever intentionally make a face like that
Just rewatched it. The first time I rated it a 7.0 and described it as "dragging towards the end." I definitely 100% agree with that but damn.... watching through the first 30 episodes was very enjoyable with how amazing their chemistry was. I felt like they really nailed the blossoming romance between the two. It never feels like they just unrealistically instantly have more emotions than they should. Which is why I rated it a 9.5 since I sped through the episodes when it started dragging. I definitely became a fan of Janice Wu after this.
Oh yeah I also was skipping through most of the 2nd male lead by episode 10 or something. As the show went on started skipping more and more of the non lead scenes since I just wanted to watch them two.
It was way too predictable. Honestly I feel like for this movie to be created there had to be some corruption going on somewhere. Pretty much anyone with half a brain can write a more engrossing movie in a day or 2. After reading the description the movie I thought of in my head after 5 seconds was more complex than this one, how is that even possible? I still rated it a 6.5 out of 10 though but that is because I like romance movies.
