Coffee, with only a few eps of Lovers left yesterday I figured you must be done with it by now? Any final thoughts? :)

Yup, I've heard about the female lead in Dog & Wolf. I'm bracing myself to deal with her.
You didn't recommend Snowy Love to me but I read your rather snarky review where as usual you took a swipe at us romance lovers. But it's all good! :)

Have a look at my profile & you'll see a detailed list of what I like and don't like. My tastes vary depending on my mood, but basically when it comes to dramas I prefer not to watch anything too angsty or emotionally overwhelming. I watch for enjoyment and escape so the best dramas for me are those that leave me with a warm, satisfied feeling & a smile on my face. I want to avoid being bombarded with too many negative emotions. I hate watching a drama and feeling depressed afterwards.
I don't really like watching medical dramas. I'm burned out on them from Western TV. I like music dramas too, though I haven't found an asian one yet that I've liked. I also like sports dramas with lots of romance. Pride & Buzzer Beat come to mind as great examples.
From your list I see you have a lot of AWESOME (romance) dramas to look forward to! There are so many good ones you haven't seen that I wish I could switch places with you & experience these dramas all over again! :)

Have you seen Secret Garden? If so, what did you think? Most people I know here on the site say it's pretty good, one of the best rom coms around. Since it is written by Kim Eun Sook who hasn't disappointed me with a drama yet & stars Hyun Bin I've been thinking about giving it a go despite my disagreements with Ha Ji Won.

Helt enig!

Vil du anbefale denne serien, Down with Love?
Så du på lista mi, forresten? Så du noe forferdelig? :)

Takk for dine anbefalinger. Har du sett Down With Love?
Bra du jobber i barnehage! :)

Hey Bladey, no worries. My apologies as well. When my job gets hectic I do a lot of 'hit and run' on MDL too hehe
English Vinglish sounds like a hoot! I've added it to my ever growing Bollywood list. Aigooo, I wonder when I'm going to have the time to watch all these dramas and movies AND have a life!
I'd like to recommend you watch a movie called The Patience Stone. It's not a bollywood film, but I think maybe you'll appreciate it.
I must admit I was surprised to hear Master's Sun, of all things, got you out of your slump, Bladey. It seems like just the type of drama non-romantics like you dislike. Heck, even a romantic like me have been avoiding it with a 10 foot pole. haha But I guess sometimes all the foolishness in these rom-coms is exactly what the doctor orders. :)

Helt klart.

I've heard it's pretty funny, though, so I wouldn't write it off just yet. In fact, I plan to pick it back up very soon. People have said that it takes a little while for you to get hooked. Everyone I know who made it to the end loved it.

Kim Eun Sook, who wrote Lovers, has also written:
City Hall
A Gentleman's Dignity
The Lovers Trilogy (Lovers in Paris, Lovers in Prague, Lovers)
Secret Garden
Heirs (currently airing)
On Air
So far I've loved everything I've watched from her. My favs in order of priority: Lovers, City Hall, AGD. I'm even thinking about watching Secret Garden even though I can't stand Ha Ji Won & Heirs even though I don't watch school dramas. I won't watch On Air because Kim Ha Neul was enough / too much for me in AGD (she's on my blacklist). I might check out some of her other earlier dramas too, but I've heard her best work started with Lovers & subsequent dramas.
FYI, Love Revolution is not written by Kim. That's a jdrama. I plan to watch it soon myself. I heard it's good! :)

Sorry I meant to write I was working 16 hr days, not 16 days straight with no break. LOL I'm not that dedicated hahaha!
City Hall is about a politician who aspires to become the next Korean president. He moves to a small town out in the boonies to try & win a seat in the National Congress (which will then allow him to run for president). There he runs into a rather odd, but totally dorkable, woman who works as a secretary at the Town Hall. He attempts to get her elected as a puppet mayor who he'll be able to manipulate for his own political purposes, but his plans go awry when they fall in love with each other.
It's a nice little drama by one of my favour screenwriters. One of the few rom-coms I truly enjoyed, even though I would have preferred something other than the political backdrop. You should watch it, Rich! This had some really great comedic moments & the chemistry between the leads was haaaawt! I'm sure you'll like.
Anyway, miss you around here, kid! Come back soon! :)
I'm one of those people who avoid dramas where disease is the main theme like the plague. And if I know disease as a plot twist is coming (when it affects the main character/s at least) I'll also probably avoid watching the drama. For me it doesn't really matter how life-affirming or inspiring the story is. All I'll be able to focus on is:
1) a character I've more than likely grown to love is suffering and will meet a terrible end.
2) my own mortality ... how, when, where will I die? Will I die young having never accomplished my dreams? Where will I go? Will I just simply cease to exist, never to behold the people I love ever again?
Man, if I want to be bombarded with such depressing thoughts I turn on the news.

Most of the genres on my least favourite list are on there because I dislike sad endings in dramas. With these genres you're almost guaranteed sadness. I'm far more able to deal with sad endings in movies because I don't get as emotionally invested, but in dramas you spend a lot of time with these characters, you grow attached to them and I don't want to see them get killed off.
When it comes to romantic comedy, most of the time I don't like the Asian cultural dimensions that dictate the genre. I mean this is the genre in which you'll find the most fake intimacy there is. I really hate that. Moreover, the stories and characters are often frustratingly cliche and moronic, and they just make me want to toss the damn computer out the window. So I avoid them. Like the plague. :-) There are of course some exceptions, but they're few and far between.

What is it that you do for a living ... if you don't mind my asking? If you've told me before I apologize for forgetting. My brain is one huge clutter camp!
Have you seen Time Between Dog & Wolf? I've been debating whether I should Rondo first. I'm on a Takenouchi high after seeing him in Proposing Once Again.
You're right about Tæ-joo. I think he needed an intervention because I felt he was redeemable. He wasn't so far gone yet like Min-jæ, imo. I think he could've turned his life around, but I guess this was never the writer's intention. From where I sat, though, I saw a naive, idealistic young man with an inflated ego. He's the perfect example of the phrase 'the folly of youth'. In his effort to bring down the Chois he never suspected that he'd become like them. He got in waaay over his head & before he knew it he lost his mind. I mean literally lost his mind. What an excellent character, though. So meaty & complex! In fact, all the characters were. Will I ever be able to write like that ...? One can dream! :)

Well, that's good to know. I've seen Jo Yoon Hee before and she was always a bit wooden in her performances and appeared uncomfortable doing intimate scenes.
Another question, I see you've rated Salaryman quite high. I've seen the first 2 eps which were rather comedic, but I wasn't sucked in so it's been on my on hold list for a while now. As a fellow romance junkie, would you recommend that I bump it up on my priority list?
