If you want a brutal, no-nonsense film with twisty mindgames, visually stunning- and leaving you with an empty…
I just finished watching this film and I wasn't sure what to make of it until I saw what you wrote. I think you were able to vocalize my feelings exactly. I liked the movie, the cinematography is stunning, but at the same time I felt like it was trying too hard to be both artsy and intellectual. Good, interesting movie though.

By the way, my love for Asian films started out with Lee Byung Hun. There's just a magnetism to him that totally sucks me in. And he's not just a pretty face, but an amazing talent too. I love him, I love him, I love him. I was never really attracted to Asian men before I started watching his films! Now I can't get enough of them! haha

No, no, no, don't worry about spoiling! If a show has a really sad ending where one of the beloved lead characters die or is going to die I want to know about it beforehand! I hate being surprised with an unexpected death or ultimate demise of a character I'll grow to love. This happened to me with Padam Padam which stars our boy Jung Woo-sung and man was I down for a couple of days. Had I known going in I don't think I would have been so affected because I would have had time to mentally brace myself but everything came as a shock. So please tell me! :) These days I will not watch a drama (with movies I'm a tad more flexible, but not by much! :) until I know the ending. I'm far too busy to be burdened with the blues after I've dedicated 20+ hrs of my life to a character who ends up getting killed off. I don't know what some of these writers/directors are thinking! lol

Oh what a nice compliment! But being a filmmaker doesn't give me any authority or superior knowledge on what makes a good film since art is subjective! :) I watch films for both educational and entertainment purposes, but mostly the latter rather than the former so my reviews, like everyone else's, tend to reflect my own personal tastes and preferences. They will only be of value to you if we share similarities in our likes and dislikes. Have you seen the reviews I've already posted? I have a couple more to post, but haven't gotten round to it yet. Hope you discover something you like! :)

I so agree with you about endings! Before I really got into Asian cinema I didn't mind sad endings because for every film with a sad ending you could easily find another with a happy or satisfying ending. However, since I got onto the Asia wave pretty much every film I've seen so far has had really sad, gut-wrenching endings that would haunt me for days. I've gotten many a rude awakening each time I'd blindly jump into watching a film or drama and be taken on a miserable emotional roller coaster ride. Characters I invest so much in and grow to love are killed off in the most dreadful of ways. Horrible. I now try to avoid those dramas and films like the plague!
On a lighter note, it also seem we share similar taste in men because I absolutely love Jung Woo-sung and Henney Daniel! :)

Omg! Never Forever totally went under my radar! Vera Farmiga is my favourite Hollywood actress and I've pretty much seen everything she's in ... or so I thought! Now that I know Ha Jeong Woo is also in it, I'm so gonna hunt this movie down. Thanks for the rec! :)
I've been meaning to edit my description to be more specific about what's satisfying for me. Haven't gotten round to it yet! lol I'd say 3-iron's ending was satisfying. A happy ending would be if the lead actor and actress end up happily together at the end of the movie.
I'm an absolute film buff. In fact, film making is my profession so I love all types of films. It all just depends on my mood and what's going on in my life. If all's relatively well, I can watch tons of sad movies and not be affected. But if I'm having a rough day, I'd rather not see movies that will make me melancholic. Movies for me are a great escape!

Awesome, thanks for the rec! I'll check it out! I now have quite a few of Kim Ki-duk's films on my watch list and can't wait to get to them all. By any chance have you seen Breath? If yes, what do you think? I want to watch that next, but I'm waiting until I'm in the right mood for it because I hear that it has a really sad ending. I also noticed you had The Yellow Sea as one of your favs. I want to see that too because of Ha Jeong Woo who I first saw in Nameless Gangster and loved. He (Ha) is also the lead actor in Breath. How was The Yellow Sea for you? Did it have sad ending? Thanks! :)
Can someone tell me where can I watch this ? :o I think the title is not Fly High ? .___.
I'm confused too, but yes it would seem that this movie and the one listed on gooddrama.net are the same even though the descriptions are different. No. 3 has the same description as Fly High on gooddrama too. I'm sure with a little investigation you'll be able to figure out if it's the film you want to see.

Thanks! 3-iron was such a joy to watch. Totally blew me away. And I loved Addicted. Lee Byung Hun is just awesome in pretty much everything I've seen him in. Handsome, talented ... the whole nine yards. Love him. When you ask have I watched his movie Bi-mong, to whom do you refer? Lee or Kim Ki-duk? I searched up Bi-mong, but didn't find it ...

There is a movie called Fly High on gooddrama.net. I think it is the same movie as this one, but I could be wrong. Here's a direct link to the page: http://www.gooddrama.net/korean-movie/fly-high-movie
