Unfortunately it would be worse...see the comment section for Chuugaku Seinikki. I wish people would understand…
What @InGukkie said. That was a poor example for your argument. People are mad because the ML in that drama is a CHILD. It's not okay for grown ass adults to be engaging in affairs, sexual or otherwise, with children. I don't care how youthful & baby-faced s/he looks. What about that is so hard to understand? Aside from that one show, people on here love swooning over noona romances, but get angry when the guy's even a few years older than the FL. Go look under the comment section of shows like Secret Love Affair, Witch's Romance and the countless other dramas where the woman is older. Smdh! Wonder if people actually know that statistics show that relationships in which the woman is older (esp if the age gap is significant), end more often in divorce/breakup compared to relationships where the man is older? I bet not. MDL's core audience has always been an immature one.
Dropped after watched episode 1... I like both Son Ye Jin & Jung Hae In but I don't think they are match... they…
Agree with you! Felt the same way about Descendants of the Sun. That's why I don't watch noona romances. I can't get into the romance when the woman looks visibly older than the ML. But older women/younger men couples (often with huge age gaps) is all the rage in South Korea now so every other drama has this theme. And yes, before anyone jumps on me for this comment, I know there are also older men / younger women dramas/couples. Personally, however, I prefer om/yw couples (as long as the age gap isn't too glaring). Why? Because I think in real life the woman is in a better position when she's the younger party. Because what often happens in ow/ym relationships is that when the honeymoon's over, you're this middle aged woman with this young guy ... you're kinda bound to end up being his mom and/or playing second fiddle to his younger girlfriend who he will eventually cheat on you with. Not saying this happens in ALL cases, but many! I speak from experience (not my own per se), but those of friends and family. Statistics also show that relationships in which the woman is significantly older, end more often in divorce compared to relationships where the man is older. Knowing this, it's makes it really difficult to get into these dramas!
They need to take family out of the genre here, just another soap with several trashy triangles going, no child…
LOL, Doc ... I feel you on this. I'm currently watching it and I'm still waiting for it to reel me in. The only couples I kinda like are Hotæ/Suyeong (although I really dislike the actress) and Tæ Min/Jinjoo. Those homewreckers ... SMDH. :/ I doubt I'll make it all the way to the end.
I'm so gobsmacked by your superior intellect. Please teach me to be more like you, oh learned one!
In all seriousness, if you're going to get all butthurt because someone doesn't like your favourite idol, at least get angry for something I actually said? Where did I say "hope her bf teaches her kissing"? How convenient of you to latch on to the one facetious comment I made about her kissing better in real life, but you probably didn't bother to read the other comments I've left explaining why I think she's totally overrated. Not only that, you put words I never said in my mouth & then attack me for it. You fangirls are so out of your goddamn minds!
You're throwing a hissy fit over what exactly? A running joke among viewers who's ever seen a PSH drama. So do you go around getting mad at everyone who thinks she's a horrible kisser in pretty much everything she's been in? Do you accuse them of being 'misogynistic & vulgar' too? Do you even *know* the meaning of the words 'misogynistic & vulgar'? You really must not have anything better to do with your life. You're right to avoid trying to have any sort of debate with me because you indeed are not on my level. I don't debate with children.
Why does romance have to be in everything, for it to be good. This was a crime drama and I am glad that it did…
Why should romance be exclusively for romance dramas? Do crime fighters not have romantic lives? Do prosecutors, businessmen, crooks and everyone else from all walks of life not have romantic lives? Romance is a universal theme, which is why it's perhaps the only genre that can be safely mixed in with other genres. Sometimes romance can make other elements of the plot more intense, eg in situations where one or both of the leads live in constant danger and they don't know if they'll live another day to see their loved one. I always find this complaint about not wanting romance in everything so arbitrary. :/
Nam Ji Hyun hmmmm....As a woman speaking she created her own problems but I guess it's the writing again .Many…
Mali, well said! This is why I hate love triangles with a passion! The characters are made to behave illogically and it's frustrating beyond words! You have no control over who likes you, but you do control your own actions. When characters purposely seek out the 3rd party in the triangle for NO valid reason, esp when they know it makes their significant other upset and insecure, it makes steam blow out my ears! The petty misunderstandings and the irritating love triangles are a big part of what's making this drama really frustrating for me.
i decided to watch it after watching Five Children which i absolutely loved! first off all the actors and actresses…
I'm still watching the drama, but this pretty much sums up my feelings about it, except for the part about CGJ. No matter how much I try to empathize with him, I just think he's too callous in the way he treats people, esp his dad. He has a real mean streak about him that kinda suggests he has no redeemable qualities whatsoever. I hope his character gets better by the end!
When it comes to K dramas, family ones are my favourite genre. I was actually enjoying the story just fine until…
This comment is quite late and you probably will never see it, but I just have to say ... I disagree. I loved that the father took legal action against those ungrateful people. Money has a way of corrupting people; the father clearly saw and understood this and took action to not only protect his assets, but to ultimately protect his children from the corruptible influence of money. I was indifferent to him when he was being a doormat for those bastards, I grew to respect him after he filed the suit.
I tried really Really REALLY hard to like this. But I found all the characters so annoying and cruel to each other…
I'm still watching this drama and I have to agree with you. Something feels off about these characters, and I think it's because the writer has done a poor job of showing different dimensions of each character's personality, esp the elder son. All we see are a bunch of greedy, self-centred vultures, preoccupied with their own lives and not really caring how their actions and behaviour affect the people around them. Sure, no family is perfect, all families bicker and fight and bear resentments toward each other, but what I'm missing is that genuine warmth and love between parent and children, inspite of this.
Prior to starting What Happens To My Family, I watched All About My Mom, which had a similar theme of ungrateful children taking their parents for granted, but somehow I was able to empathize with even the jerkiest of characters in that drama. I think it's because the writer did do a better job of explaining their motivations and showing different dimensions to their personalities. You did see those tender parent/child moments that showed you the kids still loved and cherished their parents, despite their overall mistreatment of them. Here in What Happens ..., these kids are really behaving like demon spawn. I hope things change for the better in the remaining 25 episodes, if I get that far. Right now, I'm THIS close to dropping this drama because they're frustrating the hell out of me, and the romance bits aren't even that interesting enough to hold my interest.
can someone please tell me whether the romance in this is similar and as central as in my father is strange and…
I have not seen My Father Is Strange and don't plan to, but I've seen Smile, You. I'm around the half way mark in What Happens To My Family, and to answer your question ... no, they're not similar. I remember the romance being a central theme in Smile, You whilst here in What Happens, it's the family dynamic and drama that's been central so far.
There's budding romance for at least 2 of the 3 main characters, but the development is rather slow, and at times boring from my perspective. For the 3rd main character ... there's barely any romance at all. And I'm very dissatisfied with that particular character's story arch. I hope it changes for the better & that the character is romantically paired with someone other than who they've been pegged with now.
So far I'm kinda losing interest in this drama, to be honest, because the kids are really frustrating and a good development of the romantic arcs is lacking. The dramatic elements between and among the families are decent though, if that's enough to maintain your interest. For me, all elements family dramas are known for - comedy, family drama & romance - need to be equally distributed for it to hold my interest, and that hasn't really happened yet in this drama. ALL ABOUT MY MOTHER was a lot more enjoyable, imo. I'm going to give WHAT HAPPENS ... a few more episodes to see if gets better. If it doesn't, I'm dropping it.
Me too been holding onto this drama, but now it's already in ep.12 and i just didnt get it, why Gi Beum just went…
I was planning on watching this drama ... because Choi Jin Hyuk. HAWWWT!!! And the kiss scenes I've seen so far seem pretty decent. So yeah, just waiting to hear/see how it ends. It had better not turn into some melodramatic BS at the end! I've waited so long for him to do a decent romance drama (with HE) that I can like. But he keeps picking these rubbish dramas ... sigh! I'm hoping this one will work out to be what I've been waiting for. I saw him in Heirs and he was basically the only reason I didn't drop that sh*t drama. I didn't even bother looking at P&P and Emergency Couple, both of which were hard passes for me. Oh, I avoid noona romances like the plague too, don't like 'em at all! :/
