Pls don't be influenced by those reviews. That user has many accounts. And in Jan they were hating on this show and the 2ml, just to give you context.
If you're into a pure CP xianxia, then stop at ep 30. But many liked this drama as it's challenging and not a cliché xianxia, it also scored high on Douban.

He was ranked higher on a large manhua/gamer site (can't remember the name), it was discussed on Rednote a week ago. They were critical of YY earlier but he also got voted high. Their votes were: YY, Miss Mo, Dr Mo, Wang Chan. Dong Xuaner was much lower😅, Cao Jun, Hong Fu, were also lower for their portrayal and suitability to their characters.
Even Wang Chan is kinda campy. Only YunLu seems to be playing it straight.
I read bits of the novel, but unfortunately can't find the Eng links rn. The Donghua covered by the drama is actually not that long. It parallels scene by scene, apart from some added parts and the lack of houses or interior scenes🥴.

I loved those 2 side kicks. Them, Zhong Wu and Wang Chan are kinda popular in CN, especially their catchphrases. This Wang Chan is better than the donghua's. That one did more screaming and shrieking.

TM did win in his own tragic noble way🤧. I also couldn't wrap my head why ZM had to go through that all over! I just imagined he was in a slumber until XXC took over. But at least MXL and XXC got their happy after😺. This drama is memorable and like a hidden gem.
