Originally it was around 90 episodes. They trimmed 20 episodes, but the plot is overly embellished. NRTA rejected the drama, due to extraneous embellishments.

The NRTA blocked the release because of over embellishment of the plot. It is based on historical events.

He was also good in Fairyland Lovers, Detective L and Memory Lost.

I think the producers have written off the production, and put it in the dungeon.

It can't pass NRTA. Too much embellishment and distortion of history. It is based on real history. I was looking forward to it after watching Zhang Ruo Yun in Novoland Castle in the Sky, seven years ago.

LOL You think the producer would hire a team consisting of director, editor, writer to go through the filmed footage, and retool the drama, down to 40 episodes, to pass the censorship committee. They could even hire film university students.

I watched seven episodes, and I am enjoying the drama, so far, and wish they would drop more episodes. After the first episode, I read that coroner Yang was going to have a face swap, and I wasn't too keen on the drama. After Shangguan Zhi took over her face, I began to accept Yang's new face.

I like Liu Xue Yi, and I am glad he has the main lead role. I also Ju Jing Yi, but I only finished two of her dramas. She looks very different here, even though she is still wearing ghastly white pancake makeup. I thought she was playing a witch in episode 1. LOL I wish they would make her look less ghostly in costume dramas. I like the actress who played the original Yang Cai Wei, but I can't find her name. I hope they do some flashbacking with her, so we can remember her. I am sorry she won't have a HE with Pan Yue. He truly loved her. The witch doctor would not be able to restore her face.

The songs are beautiful, too, but when then they overplay the songs, and turn up the volume, I start cringing.
