The drama is well produced. There is no extraneous filler or overpowering BGM. The actors did a very nice job.

She could have asked if she could keep the necklace. I am not sure if she had given the necklace to the friend. They would have said, OK. The way the scene is presented, the viewer might assume she stole it, and didn't want the friends to know,

The 100 years' embezzlement seemed a long time. I just realized that Master Fan was old...probably 60, and the conspiracy must have started with his grandfather or father.

The drama had very good translations throughout, until the final episode. I wondered why the subs were incoherent.

I wondered why they kept calling him Handsome in the last episode. LOL

What made this drama perfect was that the story was sequential, with relevant flashbacking inserts. There was no choppy editing to distract the viewer. The wrap up was well done, and we did not get a silly time jump, like other Asian dramas.

The only flaw was that the music supervisor occasionally turned up the volume on the singing over the character's dialog.

Looking forward to this drama because of the ML and FL. I loved their work in Reset, Blessed Girl and Remembrance of Things Past, respectively.

The parallels to NIF are true. I would not have thought of it. Lin Shu's revenge plot is subtely revealed in Shuai Jia Mo's "revenge", which was finding out the truth of his parents' deaths.

Just as I predicted, in the first couple of episodes. I saw a gleam in the eye, when they met across the room, yard or street.

The final edict should have also included Master Fan giving a free annual harvest banquet every year to the villagers for their hard work. LOL

Does the Fan estate continue to pay the tax portion following Fan's demise, until infinity? Is it my wrong assumption that the Silk Road Tax rule did not change? The other provinces appear to remaine intact, not liable for the Silk road Tax. Once the Fan Empire disintigrated, and the land changed hands, would the new landowner voluntarily pick up the tax bill?

I agree. This was a complex, simplistic drama, with a beginning, middle and ending encapsulated in fourteen episodes. The only flaw was the loud singing overpowering a character's dialog, especially in the final episode.

I was feeling the drag for the last nine episodes. I jumped into episode 10 today, and now I am interested in Lawyer Cheng. He didn't get my vote previously. I hope those corrupt officials do not go after Madam Feng and her smoked ham business. Mr Fan is so evil, I would not put it past him. His nephew should to get fired from the job.

Ep 10 was a revelation for the viewers, and a turning point for Lawyer Cheng. Now, he will convert to a protagonist, and face off against those despicable officials. I hope the Imperial Court gets rid of them by episode 14.

As we know, it takes generations for the court to be cleaned up of the scumbags.

I sensed there was some bad blood between Lawyer Cheng and Nephew when the latter arrived. Your explanation has made me interested in continuing the drama.

It is aggravating to watch these corrupt officials lie and scheme. I watched Shuai give the evidence to that Whatshisface in Lanxi Province, and tell him that the original evidences are in the archives. Of course, the latter is going to burn down the archives. Lanxi's history goes up in flames. Shaui really has no artifice, and tells the truth always. I want to slap Lawyer Cheng.
