I noticed that, too. Even the evil Chongwu officer was good looking. He might have been the tallest man on set. It's hard to match characters to faces on the MDL cast list. He might be Omid (Zhen Mei). I can imagine the ladies eyeing the men on set every working day.🥰😘
To this day, I still don’t understand why GJM didn’t revise the script so the character’s portrayals could…
Very true! Zhou Yi Chen was the strongest character. He didn't waver even when he was possessed. Zhao Yuan was laid back. We know he's an old demon, but he has millennia of experience. Wen Zhao possessed skills, but most times, she was standing by. History repeats itself. Previous Baize Goddess and Bingli, Fei and Qing Geng, Zhao Yuan and Wen Zhao... a love between goddess and demon never meant to flourish.
I have to acknowledge that Fangs of Fortune is my most favorite costume C-drama. I am sorry that I did not watch it in October 2024. I missed out on a very good drama, and introduction to some new actors. The production values; acting, directing, music, writing, editing, special effects, costume and makeup design, and set designs were very good. The casting was on point. The scene stealers were the three youngest actors; Lester Ling (Bai Jiu), Xu Zhen Xuan (Ying Lei) and Ai Mi (Qing Geng). Strangely, they killed off the three young characters.
My two favorite characters are Zhao Yuan and Zhuo Yi Chen. Hou Ming Hao and Tian Jia Rui were the lynchpins and their chemistry is apparent. LOL Chen Du Ling fit the character of Wen Xiao, but her character was underutilized in some scenes. Pei's brother grew on me when he returned as Pei's protector. Yan An (Li Lun) was the most handsome actor on set. Even Li Lun grew on me. The primary villain had too much screen time, and they had a hard time getting rid of him in his final scene.
Some scenes seem to stretch over two or more episodes. The dream and reality scenes were confusing. I watched episode 34.5 which is twenty plus minutes long. They could have made a full episode #35, and ended it with Zhao Yan returning to Wen Xiao.
I reached ep 19 and want to keep going. Some of the scenes dragged, so I started skipping some moments. I love the team concept, although. Ms Pei should learn to crack a smile. Wen looked lost in the Kunlun Mountain scene with Li Lun. The teenagers Bai and Mountain God Ying Lei were too cheerful . I love Zhu Yan and Zhuo Yi Chen's interactions. Did Li Lun kill Zhuo's family members, and he took the blame?
Ai Mi (...Qing Geng) looks so grown up. She is seventeen now but she was fifteen when she filmed the drama. She looks twenty-five years old in this role.
I watched a few episodes back in 2016 but dropped it. The fake Lord of the Rings white wigs and the blue eyes distracted from the plot. LOL I remember the three main actors. I recall that the Lord of the Rings Set Designer designed the sets for the drama.
It took a long time to get to the end of the drama. It should have been wrapped up on Wednesday, but they piecemealed the final four episodes over four days, which didn't build up the momentum. By the time the final episode dropped today (with the good subs), I wasn't keen on sitting through the final four episodes. I ended up watching ep 38, followed by ep 37 just to see Wu Zi Shu's lackluster death scene. He was delulu even to the end, thinking she could come over to his dark side.
im so sad we don't have a proper conclusion for mei si and taizhen ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
Typical C-drama writing/directing...Mei Shi and Liu Taizhen were social distancing. Was the smile, a goodbye or a hello? Even Zhang Zhuang and Hu Zhu. You could see that they loved each other, but he rode off with his buddies into the sunset. I hope they reunite in the future. He could have opened up a restaurant in Chang'An.
Wu Zi Shu was deluded to the end. Why would Wu Zhen come over to his dark side? His death scene was so blah. I don't know why Wu Zhen was crying over his death. He didn't earn the title of villain.
Kisskh; properly subbed until 36; last three are still, not quite there and weirdly edited so at least you can…
Yes! I should have attached it to your comment above, sent one hour ago. The fact that we are waiting daily for the final episodes. I lose track of the plot watching one episode daily. I watch the dramas on kisskh, and believe they usually drop the express episodes promptly.

I think the decision to piecemeal the final five episodes has something to do with the Disney contract. I am also guessing the contract was for U.S. distribution only. This is ludicrous because the Disney customers are not watching the bootleg sites, and their C-drama viewership is a drop in the world bucket. The Chinese company has been dropping express packages for years. Why suddenly present it as a daily drama?
