I usually don’t post comments and just lurk but I feel so protective of NQ that I created a new account to defend him. 🤣
First, for me, this is probably the BEST modern c-drama I’ve watched (and I’ve watched a lot). Everything about this drama was amazing and you really have to pay attention to the little details and dialogues, otherwise you’d miss some important parts. The story and the pacing is realistic and relatable. I don’t think the negativity towards the ML in the second half is justified. When watching this drama, I feel like you need to understand that it’s dealing with mental health issues as well as people with special needs so a lot of things might not make sense to people who haven’t been around these types of thing.
Both characters bring past history and issues into the relationship, WY from the death of her friend and NQ from his vision impairment, the death of his mom, and the feeling of abandonment of his family. Both characters have their flaws and struggles but that’s what makes them unique. NQ has insecurity issues because he never felt real love from his family. He felt that no one wanted him because of his disability. For someone like him, love was not meant for him and he made peace with it. Then WY entered his life and he couldn’t believe someone could genuinely love him. He didn’t even believe it at first, thinking she only loves him because he was YJ. Then she left him without much of an explanation in the heat of the moment when they both were emotionally riled up because of their dads. In the three years they were apart, he had her followed but I don’t think this is as creepy as some people are saying, he wasn’t personally stalking her and he never looked at any of the pictures they took. He wasn’t using any of the information to be malicious. This was in his own way of loving her and protecting her by staying away. Only when he realized he could actually lose her that he decided to appear in person. He did try to not cross the line but when WY showed up at his hotel room return the watch, that was pretty much a sign that he still had a chance. Because to be honest, if she didn’t love him anymore, she could’ve just mailed back the watch or just sell it because obviously he won’t never take it back. She wanted to see him that’s why she went there. Upon seeing her sleeping, his emotions took over and stole a kiss because love is irrational and it makes you do irrational things. He even said “so this is why WY always did that”. He did quickly remember they’re not together and stopped himself when he wanted to kiss her again.
