I think you tag the wrong person.? I have no problems with their BL dramas or anything in China. I was just explaining to @Jackie_the_ripper. ( though I am not that good at explaining some things).
No. What I mean is the editing, they gave much more screentime to the second lead rather than Main leads. The Second lead have much more scenes than Main leads. Fans are annoyed about this. Fans love the main leads of course, who will not love Zhang Bin Bin & Esther Yu?

That was last year. Romantic scenes are limited though. Like Chinese dramas with wars they barely have romance, either the Male lead dies or the female lead marries another man. As far as I know production team edits it on the instructions of censorship ( not all episodes are checked by censorship, it still depends on the editing staff). Yes. I read from Marcus Here, that there are new restrictions but the one who uploaded that deleted it in Weibo. So we will see if that new restrictions will be up for this year 2023.

This is China. China is still keeping up with their traditions. When it comes to historical, political, Wuxia or Xianxia, not all dramas (in that area) have romantic elements. In modern dramas yes, you might still see it, but when it comes to heavy dramas, they would rather have sometimes sad or open ending. You will barely see happy endings.

This is not about the trend. This is because of their Censorship (the government have to review what to be deleted or what to stay in the dramas or movie.) Censorship in the People's Republic of China (PRC) is implemented or mandated by the PRC's ruling party, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). It is one of strictest censorship regimes in the world.
We can't do anything about that. It's their management on how things work in the Subtitle area. I did not watch it on youku. I just watched it on Kisskh or Croton.
Like in A Romance of The Little Forest, I watched it on Croton even though I knew it would also be available in Youku.
The only drama I've watched on Youku is Word Of Honor in Youtube.
The upcoming drama "The Legend of Anle" of #DilrabaDilmurat and #GongJun has passed the review, and the certificate will be issued soon. But the number of episodes has been changed from 40 to 39. 🥰
If this drama gets aired next year, ima fight China. They better bring Deng Lun back if they air this drama. Period.
