Rather than saying there's visible age gap, I'm personally seeing more acting-skills gap between them. Last time I watched him in The Forbidden Marriage and I don't think there's any major improvement, at least from what I've seen in the teaser.
That said, Shin Min Ah is always a delight on screen so I'll definitely check this out once it comes out.
It seems like they are trying to bypass the pregnancy plot line. I somehow saw this coming, but not the execution.
You're right, and I'm kinda sad now cause it means we're not going to see the babies and see them navigating being parents while they bicker and still hiding identities and all that
Cdramas always tends to have weird cuts at the end of episodes, make them feel like they're cut in the middle of the scene. This is why I usually choose to binge cause it's easier to ignore these weird editing quirks. But, ugh, i just can not help myself with this drama.
You know when Zhang Wan Yi does that smile 🙂 when he agrees for somethingHe does it so nicely inside hiding…
Yea, there's also that one very particular smile that I noticed when she approved of lord huaiyang's actions, very cat-like. I haven't watched any of his drama before this, so I'm enjoying his various expressions in this drama without any previous context or previous characters however annoying they are. I just find him very entertaining.
I think this version of the character works for him. If they made his character here closer to the novel version, it would feel very boring and cliche.
Seems like many people are mindlessly bashing the ML without looking at the complexity of the situation. From…
To me, it's somehow harder to forgive this drama version of CXZ compared to the novel one. Even though he's goofier and more adorable here, he also lies more to the point of creating this truman show situation for her. Meanwhile novel version is more like, just accommodating her own elaborate imagination XD. In my perspective, LMT and CXZ's position in the novel are somehow more equal (equally crazy about each other lol) so it's easier to overlook his mistakes even though he was depicted as cold and ruthless at the beginning. But yeah, both the novel and the drama version CXZ are meant to be grey. Grey is good cause real people always exist in a spectrum. For me, personally I judge characters based on their context and situation, because every stories have different settings and rules that exist in their own universe.
I found this flirty male lead trope is more common in short dramas. If you're into that, I can mention a few
There are many but some that i can remember at the top of my head such as 'Yes, Her Majesty', 'My Lady General, 'My Jealous Husband', 'Destined to Meet You', and 'My Beloved Wife' are some of them. For longer drama (30 mins or more per ep) there are some like 'My Uncanny Destiny', 'General's Lady', or the very popular 'Hidden Love'.
10/40 so it's quarter of the way and as a novel reader, I'm in a constant dread of wondering if the drama will mess up the storytelling. There are so many grounds left to cover that I'm afraid it's going a bit too slow.
That being said, of course we know that the drama should be it's own entity, despite being an adaptation, it should be able to stand on it's own. So I'm glad that the receptions are pretty good so far and even non novel-reader are enjoying this as well.
An original script produced by linmon with Liu Yuning in it! How could I not be sold. And Riley Wang was a riot…
Skimming over the comment and I just had to see some people still rage baiting by hating on Liu Yuning's looks. Meanwhile, I'm here not understanding how could anyone finds him unattractive??? Many actors struggle to pull off even half of the charisma that he has simply by just existing in his 190cm glory. All those period costume needs certain built to look good on camera, okay? And his posture has improved so much so he no longer slouches. Not to mention he's one of the rare actors that insists to use his own voice in his dramas. I found out about him from AJTY and honestly, It's mindblowing to me that people really went that far about his looks during the drama airing period. It's disheartening considering everything he went through up to that point. Hopefully we will no longer see this type of responses when this drama airs.

Considering this hasn't even finished filming, it will be a while until this eventually goes on air. Well, at least it's not xianxia so post production shouldn't take too long... right?
WOW I feel so sorry/bad for the FL.She is living in a trueman show, everyone around her is lying to her.Right…
Exactly! This truman show angle is what I dislike from the drama version compared to the novel version. At this point almost every offical in Lingquan Town already know about the scheme and it's so illogical how he expect to keep his double life in the down low this way.
While I like (the character development of) novel-version CXZ, I think, drama-version CXZ is made for, you know,…
Hmmm there's no mention of him spreading fake rumors i think. I said 'kinda', cause as far as I remember, there's no explicit flashback to the FL's interaction with Liu Yu during her bandit days. It was just implied that they liked each other during that time. Some misunderstanding caused him to momentarily lost trust on her, so they broke up. But later he realized that the FL did nothing wrong so he wants to find her back. Only later he finds out that she's moved on, and we'll see how the drama will depict that reunion.

The FL is Lu Wen. She's the bandit leader that actually shoot the ML with an arrow at the beginning. In the novel, she was arranged to marry a merchant named Cui Jiu, but she doesn't like him so she fled to the mountain and joined the bandit group. But in the drama, it seems like the made her to be kidnapped by the bandit group before eventually joining, idk, it will be revealed later on I suppose. In the bandit group, she's close with Liu Yu (the guy played by chang hua sen), they're kinda in relationship but not married. They had a fallout because of a misunderstanding plotted by Sun Yunniang (we saw her disguising as the maid during the banquet). Somehow the FL got hurt and then the ML found her floating unconsciously by the river, we know the rest of the story. In case I wasn't being clear, the merchant Cui Jiu that she was supposed to marry is not the ML. They just happen to have the same surname, and because he's the ninth master of the family, his friend called him Cui Jiu. Hence the misunderstanding.

Now that it's starting to deviate further from the novel, I'm just going to sit here to enjoy the ride.
Dude, eyes up here, why do you keep looking at her lips lololol
But, ugh, i just can not help myself with this drama.
