This is my fav xianxia ever so I might be a little biased here but the romance and chemistry are top-notch imo. Yu Sifeng was and is still my ultimate ML crush (and my fav Cheng Yi's character to this day. I fell in love with him and become a fan thanks to this drama) and although there were a lot of misunderstandings between them, it didn't bother/annoy me much compared to other dramas (show isn't perfect by any means but I really enjoyed the ride)...I even watched the whole thing without skipping scenes or fast-forwarding...it was this good and addictive. There are kisses and skinship, best one being in episode 52 (a deep and hot one hihi...unfortunately cut a lot due probably to censorship?!?) All in all, I think you should give it a try and see if you like it or not...don't let the number of episodes deter you, it is worth it!
