There is everything what I want in a historical drama but I can't seem to connect with the main lead(seo hwi).…
To each his own:) I think he's freaking awesome and it's no wonder he won a Baeksang Award last year (Best New Actor). He's for me the most talented actor of his generation. May I recommend you to watch 'Duel'? He played 3 different characters and he was just mindblowing in this drama. Please, give him a chance, he may surprise you:)
How the hck the red guy still alive? Nonsense that I can’t ignore somehow..
haha I know...it was utterly ridiculous. Guy got stabbed right on his chest (on what should have been a fatal blow normally), woke up miraculously (super fast healing here) and immediately got back on his feet to continue his mission as nothing happened.....oh, I almost forgot that he also took two arrows later on and still managed to survive in the end *rolleyes* He.is.not.human.Period.
I watched the first 2 episodes and was very disappointing. For JH fans.... don't bother yet, He gets less than…
God knows how much I admire/respect Jang Hyuk as an actor and all but some of his fans are a bunch of arrogant brats who think he's the best thing to have ever graced the screen and need to learn modesty and stop looking down upon his fellow colleagues (Jang Hyuk himself would hate this kind of behaviour)
Yang Se Jong and Woo Do Hwan aren't idols, they're actors and talented at their craft. YSJ won a Baeksang Award last year and I highly doubt he went under the knife (what you see is what you get). He doesn't seem the kind to care that much about his looks irl if you ask me (no SNS, he's really low-profile when he's not working but when on job, he works his ass off!)
Lastly, JH fans need to be patient. He will probably appear this week and with more screentime. I'm definitely looking forward to his strong performance.
First impression on this drama: a total let down. I was expecting so much more from Ji Chang Wook's first project post army and all I can say is that I'm far from being impressed...4 episodes out of 16 have already aired and nothing major happened. I don't even find it remotely funny ...I'm watching it with my sis and we're both agreeing, the humor leaves us completely cold (and let me tell you, comedy-wise, we're easy to please!)
Writing is a mess and is dragging down talented performers. I'm basically forcing myself to watch it for the leads (I love both). Get your act together writer-nim! Don't let it become another Abyss V 2.0...
Edit: Sorry for the rant but I needed to get it off my chest.....
I'm confused here...wasn't it originally slated for 20 episodes, not 16???? I'm a bit disappointed because I'm afraid it's way too short for these kinds of stories (historicals/sageuk) *sigh* First episode was awesome nonetheless, it's really living up to the hype as of now...Stellar cast and acting (Positive point: Seolhyun was quite decent in this first episode!). Looking forward to second episode now!
LOOOOOLcan u plz tell me the end i dont mind spoiling it for me is it has happy ending, sad or bad or open one…
People should have read the webtoon beforehand! (or at least inform themselves about it)This way there would have been no disappointment...Drama was okay, not a masterpiece but I enjoyed most of it. My main grip with this show was the cringy CGI and the unfunny three stooges.
Okay...I didn't plan to watch this drama at first because of the leads but being dramaless, I decided to give it a chance....and I'm pleasantly surprised, it was a delightful watch. One of the best fusion sageuk dramas I've had the pleasure to watch.
Shin Se Kyung kicks ass as Goo Hae Ryung, probably her best role to date (she really suits sageuks) and Cha Eun Woo is not that bad- the lovestruck prince suits him quite well...he still needs to work on his facial expressions and posture but I can definitely see some improvements here and there (his bawling/crying scenes were decent, not cringy at all)... Lee Ji Hoon and Park Ki Woong were excellent as usual...but for them to be forever stuck as second leads is such a shame imo. Final rating: 8.5/10.
First c-drama I managed to finish (dropped LoveO2O because of dull leading lady)...it was a nice watch and exactly what I needed at the moment. Main couple was adorable and it was a pleasure to follow their day-to-day adventures.
Lin Yi (male lead) was a bit stiff but considering it was his first role, I'll cut him some slack...wishing him the best for his next projects (boy is handsome and tall, it would be a waste if he were to never improve...don't you think? Oh well...*thinkingoutloud* I will definitely root for him<3 ) Gu Wei Yi is a thoughtful and understanding boyfriend. Despite his awkwardness at times, he's a sweetheart to Tu Mo. Fair Xing was good as Si Tu Mo. She was bubbly, spunky but also a level-headed and down-to-earth girl. Not your typical dumb girl who fawns over the smart male lead even when all he does is treat her like crap...the doormat type if you know what I mean. Here, it's the male lead who falls for the heroine first, not the other way around (and what a delightful sight it was xD )
Lastly, I recommend it for everyone who's an hopeless romantic (like me lol) Final rating: 8/10.
MAN, WATCHING THE LATEST TEASER AND READING THAT SYNOPSIS, I FELT LIKE MY HEART WILL BE BROKEN FOR THE KING! Poor…
I've seen the characters chart and I'm expecting a heartbreak. Seo Ji Hoon's character seems to be in an unrequited love and I'm already dreading watching him suffer...I purely wanted to watch it for him so I'm now quite conflicted whether to watch it or not. Not that I dislike Kim Min Jae (boy is lovable) but second lead syndrome will be way too strong with this one *disappointed*
It took me ages to finish this one...due to bad subtitles. Overall, I liked it! It's one lovely, heartwarming and hilarious rom-com <3 This drama proves once again that Kim Ji Suk is main lead material... guy is so underrated, it hurts! (I can't believe he's still stuck in secondary roles) Final rating: 7,5/10 (I would have gave it a 8 if it weren't for those terrible subs *sigh*)
Watched this for Lee Joon Hyuk because I'm already missing him after DS60 and even though it was short, I found it pretty enjoyable. Sizzling chemistry (the way he carries her and looks at her was extra swoony), suspenseful, action-packed and fast-paced (no dull moments). Overall, a nice watch: 8/10
Seo Kang Joon has literally 3 projects lined up for this year...boy is sure busy! Honestly, I think he will pass on both webtoons (or at least one) to concentrate on the drama with Park Min Young.
Have u noticed in www he appeared wearing a school uniform when he met mo geon as if he took a new role .. i believe…
Yep, I noticed too... except that the name tag on the shirt is different from his character on this drama lol...Kim Pil Ho in search www??? Baek Kyung here ;) September can't come any faster! *already feeling second lead syndrome*
The ending greatly made up for an otherwise uneven show. Last episode was the best of the series imho and finally made me warm up to all the characters... something the show has sorely failed to do before (it was also the first time I didn't feel the urge to ff scenes or even doze off). Main couple was my least favorite, I couldn't connect with them and felt no spark whatsoever between them. Park MoGun was bland, prince charming type, almost too perfect (only care about him in the last episode, looked more human after his mother's death...I know Jang Ki Yong can emote, why wait for the last episode to showcase this? *what a waste of talent*) and their on/off relationship was a turn-off (one thing the show did right though is that Tammy didn't cave to the pressure and stayed true to herself right to the end)
My favorite pairing was of course Scarlett and Ji Hwan, their scenes were the ones I was most looking forward each episode...they were the cutest and my main enjoyment of the series. Scarlett/Cha Hyun was by far the most compelling character and I loved everything about her (badass, feisty, cute, loyal, bubbly, stylish...thanks to the amazing portrayal of Lee Da Hee)+ her romance with Ji Hwan was beautiful and their chemistry was just off the charts....As someone would say "I will remember this year as the one I met actor Lee Jae Wook" *wink*, so young yet so talented! Definitely looking forward to his next projects.
Moreover, boy, was it satisfying to see Song Ga Kyung defying and taking down her (ex) mother in law, finally breaking free from her clutches!
Last scene was epic, our three main heroines putting on their sunglasses and driving off onto a road with no red lights. Just free like the wind! (and the song playing in the background was just WOW *grin*...the whole OST was truly wonderful)
I'm still mad with the ending but boy was I blown away by that kiss in Episode 13...one of the best kisses I've seen in a while. They were on fire! Kim Myung Soo/L may not be the best actor out there but he's one hell of a kisser! (my apologies for the shallow comment lol)
Is there any romance between Baek Yi Hyun and Song Ja In? Please tag your answer as a spoiler! Thanks in advance!
Yeah they unfortunately only interact over business matters...that's a shame because I could feel strong chemistry between them (we can only hope for them to meet again in another project). Yi Hyun's love interest was Hwang Myung Sim (Park Kyu Young). Concerning Jo Jung Suk, I like him but I'm not enamored with him. He's a great actor, that's for sure. Yoon Shi Yoon was of course my main reason for watching this show (this and because I love sageuk/historical dramas) Still, I highly recommend you to watch it! This drama is just breathtaking.
If Yoon Shi Yoon doesn't get an award after this I'll scream.
Count me in! Yoon Shi Yoon was mindblowing as the tormented soul Baek Yi Hyun, he deserves all the accolades!! Give the man an award! (he's criminally underrated)
@NotMuch Yep, agree...Plus, 'The Fiery Priest' got better ratings than 'The Nokdu Flower' during its run so Kim Nam Gil is almost assured to bring the award home (not that I mind because I love the guy too but if I have to choose, I'd give it to Si Yoon)
