Even then, he was more of a side story and the main couple’s relationship took the main stage. They literally use it as a catalyst for them to confess their love while this is like 50% mom with botched plastic surgery, 40% nonsensical drug undercover stuff, and 10% main couple.
Oh it happens in real life as well. Recently read a news of a bunch of lunatic women raising an online petition…
Those are not even remotely the same thing??? Like I would understand the comparison if this was a serious crime drama and everyone was praising the drug lord gangster character bc he’s hot but Strong Girl Nam Soon literally feels so cartoonish and it’s hard to take anything seriously here, even the villain.
This isn’t The Godfather, Narcos, Peaky Blinders, or Worst of Evil. Literally a stereotypical kdrama full of nonsensical plot devices and one dimensional characters.
you haven’t seen a lot of Qing dynasty dramas then. Chinese palace dramas are miles ahead of Korea.
Lmao no??? If they were barbarians for invading another place and establishing their own empire, everyone was a barbarian. The British was literally subjugating people all over the world and killing them. Same goes for Japanese later on, America with the Natives , Mongolians, Russians, Vikings, Romans, Greeks. Every powerful group in history.
The Manchus literally invented the first machine gun, invented new lightweight armors, developed the Peking Opera, introduced legalism, and China experienced great growth in terms of literature and poetry during their rule. The period of Kangxi and Qianlong’s rules are often considered the golden age of prosperity in Chinese history. Obviously the British Invasion and the Opium wars were devastating blows but simply summing up Manchus as barbarians is laughable.

I didnt mean it in a mean way tho. Sorry about that. It’s just that this is the first kdrama in a long time that isn’t the usual cheesy “king is so in love with the female lead that he never takes concubines” kind of childish historical drama Korea puts out. China is better at accurately depicting historical times but this one is good too.
what? is the Russia storyline actually true or are you just making it up??
Oh I see. I wouldn’t be surprised with how dumb this drama is tbh lol. All the characters and their backgrounds are so stereotypical: the kind and spunky FL is from the Mongolian countryside, evil second female lead is from China and the male antagonist is from Russia.
The youtuber who exposed the celebrities and businessesman is currently being investigated. There were not solid…
he is still under investigation and yes considering Japan’s abysmal laws regarding sexual abuse, I really doubt anything will happen to his guy. I mean this is a country that refused to convict a guy who raped his teenage daughter because she didn’t resist “hard enough. ”
if those rumors are true he would be in the tight situation and would basically strip down from his roles but…
Johnny Kitagawa, the ceo and founder of japan’s biggest entertainment companies died at the die old age of 87 without seeing a day in prison or having his company fail while abusing hundreds of boys and young men over six decades. he never faced any charges, even the prime minister of Japan sent condolences to his death. his company is still thriving despite the new ceo also being a part of his abuses and all of the acts under Johnny’s are top names in the Japanese entertainment world. Although reports of his abuse were an open secret in the industry, for decades mainstream Japanese media did not cover the allegations. Same thing with Harvey Weinstein, Jeffrey Epstein, Woody Allen, Roman Polanski, etc.
men in power rarely get any consequences despite everything they do already being out in the open. it takes years for anything concrete to come to light. it’s really naive, the way you’re thinking about this. even if he was actually abusing girls, nothing would happen to him like all the rich powerful men before him. his dad was literally one of the most martial arts actors in the world and internationally and has a lot of connections and ways to shut people up.
whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty?
this is a comment section on a random entertainment website, not a court of law. it’s really funny that I’m getting replies on a comment I made years ago all of a sudden. nobody cared to defend him back then but now just bc he happened to be in a movie that you liked, all of you are his defense attorneys. ‘‘twas the way of the world I guess.
Ridiculously funny how people that LIKE the drama are pressed about those who don’t. Its not the only gore drama…
most people aren’t mad other people don’t like it tho?? they were talking in general about how MDL will give anything that isn’t a romcom starring their oppas shit ratings while praising cookie cutter dramas with hot chaebols solving all of the poor FL’s problems to the heavens. It IS a fact and a very true trend in this app. you can literally see in the comments many people being disappointed this wasn’t another poor insecure girl and rich chaebol guy falling in love story. I’m sure there are people who genuinely gave it a try and it was not to their taste but it’s pretty obvious that most are rating it solely because it isn’t a story about a shy girl getting plastic surgery/makeover and falling in love with a hunk like 200 pounds beauty or celebrity. that’s all people are saying.
if you genuinely watched the show and didn’t like it, that’s fine. There are tons of comments pointing out how the episodes felt rushed and how some plot points didn’t make sense (which I agree a lot with) and those aren’t met with anger and defensiveness. Those are very valid and I see most people welcoming different conversations about the plot and acting of the drama itself.
but a lot of the comments are people complaining it isn’t a romcom and that is a very stupid reason to rate something low tbh. like you said, different people like different things so why get angry at a thriller/dark drama for not being a romcom and rate it low? Or watching a show that’s rated +18 and then getting mad when it shows explicit scenes? It’s fine if they were criticisms about the acting, the writing, set design, pacing, special effects, literally anything of value that’s related to the drama itself. But there’s literally comments complaining it has nudity in it despite the multiple warnings this page, Netflix, and comments and reviews provide about explicit scenes and I think it’s right to call them out tbh.
I am hesitant to start this because of 7.9 rating, I would think a new drama should get much higher rating. But…
the only reason why it has a lower rating is bc teenagers that makeup a large demographic of this website expected some cheesy romcom about a girl who is insecure and ordinary like them getting solved all her problems by a hot rich guy. this one is a completely opposite on that and doesn’t shy away from tackling real world issues too heavy for young audiences to process.
The final episode was too hard to watch 💔 I couldn’t handle my tears . And I really don’t understand why…
police are pretty incompetent everywhere. it’s known especially in Korea that the police move according to what the highest ups and cheabols want rather than justice.
agreed honestly. Korean dramas in general are really bad at endings imo especially when it comes to supernatural/fantasy romance dramas. like they either go off the rails with their mythology (big, scarlet heart, tomorrow with you) or end in some convoluted way that doesn’t fit in with the rest of the plot (masters sun, rooftop prince, w).
I’m just saying if you want to watch a solid time travel romance that doesn’t end messily, I’d recommend giving the OG Taiwanese one a try. Love Timeless is another Taiwanese time travel drama I really love. From Korean ones, Go Back Couple is a fun one. I just prefer shows that doesn’t focus too much on mechanics of the time travel because it feels like focusing too much on it ends up with the writers themselves being confused.
Whoa, hold up! 🛑 Let's not go paintin' all men with the same brush here. The drama might've shown some intense…
I can’t believe they’re still using this bs argument in 2023. not all men but somehow always a man. enough for all women to be scared to go alone at night.
