I mean I like mystery but come on now this is just bad marketing
The studios themselves don't market on mydramalist tho? They have released the synopsis in their own platforms and on their international sns accounts. MDL is fan run. It's just that some dramas doesn't have a lot of fans who would voluntarily add their synopsis.

on ep15 and my gosh ML if you intend to rescue a person from drowning, is it too much to drag her out of the water…
Lmao same. And the way his character changed from abusive jerk to sweet fiancée gave me whiplash. Nothing makes sense. Even if the ml is handsome, it wasn’t enough for me to get into the story especially when there’s plenty of dramas with a logical plot and a handsome Ml.

You’re completely wrong. What Netflix doing is diving 16 episode ONE story into TWOs separate seasons which…
I wasn’t trying to lecture you. It’s hard for me to summarize my points in a few sentences I wrote it this way. You don’t seem to understand my point. No where in my reply have I said “This is Netflix’s fault” or that other Korean studios are some kind of a slave to the whims of Netflix. Those are all things you’ve somehow conjured out of your mind and claimed I’ve said them. If you don’t mind, please read the title of this article and ask yourself, why I would be talking about Netflix specifically.

I’m not a westerner either. You’re assuming a lot of things about me and the other viewers on here. I’ve never said that viewers don’t want seasons AT ALL. More that the season format where they divide 16 episode one stories into two different seasons with months apart is not an ideal model for the quality of the drama. To quote a viewer right here on this comment section, “There’s a difference between wanting more seasons versus not wanting one story to be cut into two parts.” (They said it more concisely than I’ve ever could). If more seasonal dramas end in a official conclusion instead of being cut in the like middle like The Glory, I wouldn’t be complaining. I’ve also never said ALL kdramas have to follow the 16 episode format. I actually prefer it when They are shorter. My main point is no matter the number of episodes they want to do, they should release it all in one go. You keep going off track to talk about imaginary claims like I’ve said Netflix is ruining kdramas or China or types of drama format that have nothing to do with the discussion.

Idk where the part about China money came from when a majority of drama viewers are from SEA. Kdrama actors regularly hold fan meets there. Since the Hallyu Ban which came way before Netflix and all this, they slowly decreased marketing towards China.

Also, how do you even know it’s the same group of people saying this and not different people? Some drama fans…
I’ve been watching dramas for a long time and been in the community for years as well. Unless you have some kind of actual data, there’s no proof they’re the same group of people. I’ve never said this is big bad Netflix ruining dramas. I know that other studios are also doing the season format as well. I was talking about a Netflix produced drama (Love Alarm) so simply took another drama to compare how it would’ve been if it was done by Netflix.

You’re now assuming I’ve got some kind of an agenda against Netflix. I don’t. This is a article about Netflix Kdramas so I was talking about them specifically. Would you rather that I start ranting about SBS or TVN on here? I’ve never used Dramafever and Vicki because I grew up on Asia where they broadcast currently airing dramas on cable. I’m not some westerner who feel cheated at the fact dramas are no longer a niche thing. Your love for generalizing and making assumptions about other people is astounding.

Also, sometimes fans say “ We want another seasonnn!!” as a way to express their love for the drama in the same way GenZ like to say “this is so iconic, he’s such an icon” for literally everything. It’s not meant to be said literally. Fans also say “this is the best drama ever” for their favorite shows but those aren’t literal either or we would have thousands of “best dramas” on our hands. Learn what an hyperbole is.

Oh yeah Goryeo. Sorry about that. Thank you for telling me.

I never said it was a Netflix production. I was talking about how the story of Scarlet Heart would’ve been like IF it was a Netflix production.

Also, how do you even know it’s the same group of people saying this and not different people? Some drama fans might like this season format but a lot don’t. They’re two separate groups. It’s not good to generalize like this.

You’re completely wrong. What Netflix doing is diving 16 episode ONE story into TWOs separate seasons which makes no sense. When fans used to ask for another season, it used to be that the drama was 16 episodes and at least had an official ending wether it was open or definite. Some fans would ask for another season if it was an open ending but even if there wasn’t, you had a conclusion to the story (ie. Scarlet Heart which officially wrapped up the FL’s time in the Goryeo Dynasty). Netflix literally stops the story in the middle. This is like if Scarlet Heart had two seasons and the first season ended in the FL deciding to help the ML becoming king, and kind of falling in love with him, but we had to wait months up to two full years to see what happens next.

With American (and some Western shows), it makes sense to divide them into seasons because they add new characters each season and have a new mystery/big bad they have to overcome. But the same format doesn’t work for Korean and other Asian dramas (even long cdramas with 40+ eps) because they’re ONE story with the same characters and the same villain/obstacle.

You have to at least wrap up the story you’re telling first and then try to tell another one. Dont expect your audience to like you when you stop your story midway, go sleep for months, and then comeback like nothing is wrong. It’s not like this new format is helping dramas become better or more fast paced because they are still 14-16 episodes and have about the same pacing as a traditional fully released kdrama. Just release the whole damn thing in one go. There’s no reason to be doing this other than to make more money for our corporate overlords.

Yup. Japan’s laws regarding sexual assault and abuse is abysmal. No one in Japan was really surprised about the actors the YouTuber exposed and they’ve had great careers so I don’t think nothing will change.

I’m just hoping that some international fans will at least become aware about the accusations against him. This abuser is trying to have a career in the west. But then again considering how people especially women love to defend men who don’t even know they exist at the expense of other women, and how our society as a whole shat on Amber Heard, I wouldn’t be surprised if this gets buried as well.

Different priorities regarding sex?!?😂😂😂 as in he has the priority of him orgasming and not her? Both…
Definition of orgasm:
“a climax of sexual excitement, characterized by feelings of pleasure centered in the genitals and (in men) experienced as an accompaniment to ejaculation.”

In simpler terms, orgasm is literally achieving satisfaction during sex. If the person you’re having sex with is bad at it, of course you’re not gonna orgasm. Unless you’re a man and you have erectile dysfunction or you’re woman and you have sexual dis function or other illnesses, which neither do the characters do, it’s most likely your partner isn’t doing it for you. You could argue that she stopped being attracted to him but the fact she was willing to talk about it and spice up their sex life indicates she still felt attracted to him and wanted to continue the relationship. So with that case and the fact that she was faking an orgasm even when they are first dating implies that he’s just bad at it bc she loved him enough to stay with him for 5 years.

I do wish they showed him being willing to learn and improve but I think they wanted to show all different kinds of lovers like ones who aren’t willing to understand and ones who are willing. He’s also a victim too. All of his self worth has been placed on his sexual prowess as a man by society so a comment like you might not be that good at really hurts his self esteem. I think if we have more dramas like this where people are open and frank about their expectations, we can change these unrealistic standards men and women have to live up to and hurt each other.

I see I do get your point. But I think it’s important to understand that her situation is reality for a lot of women where they keep the fact they’re unsatisfied in a relationship a secret for their entire lives even because they’ve been taught by society that women’s pleasures don’t matter. It’s kind of why she starts the podcast in the first place. It’s in the smallest of places too. Women are expected to shave off all their hair, even peach fuzzes bc it’s “unsanitary” but the same doesn’t apply for men despite both being human beings. I guess you could say both the FL and her boyfriend are victims of a society that places all of a man’s self worth on their sex life and make fun of men who are virgins while shaming woman for expressing sexual interest and call them a slut if they don’t keep their virginity intact.

I do agree with you with that. She should’ve been open with her feelings. But isn’t it good that she’s doing it now rather than lying about it forever? Was she just supposed to never tell him bc it’s too late? She’s a flawed character as well and this drama is literally about her trying to find a satisfying partnership.

“But he sucks at sex is the only reason she unable to reach orgasm?”
Um…yes? Like do you know what an orgasm is?

You are defending him tho? Saying let’s see things from both sides means you understand both parties and sympathize with them. He had a fragile ego and it was clear from the way that he responded. How do you know the FL wouldn’t have been open to spicing up their sex life? Your argument is literally based off of a hypothetical scenario that’s never happened ( ie. The boyfriend telling her she’s bad at sex and bringing in a sex toy). In fact frlm what we have seen of her character, she would be very open to spicing up their sex life. What we did see, a scene that actually happened, and not a hypothetical one is that he got angry and offended after being told the truth. I do think she should’ve been honest from the start but based on the bf’s reaction, it’s not hard to understand why she didn’t do that earlier.

Many men in real life get butthurt over being told they’re not some sex gods they think they are. It’s not unrealistic at all. Women are often expected to serve the men’s pleasure. Maybe if enough women are saying that and see the portrayal of their relationship in this drama as realistic, that would tell you something, no? Porn addiction is also playing role in so many men having unrealistic expectations of what sex is supposed to be and failing to satisfy their partners. I wanna ask why are you so hung up on the one inadequate guy they portrayed and not the dozens of other men they showed as being good lovers???

Why are you so hurt hurt about that? Some men aren’t good lovers like some women aren’t and that’s what the drama is portraying? Nowhere did they say that all men have fragile egos and are bad at sex. If you’re a good partner who listens to your partners needs and don’t get angry and try to shift the blame to them when they tell you about improving your sex life, this shouldn’t bother you at all.

If you want movies and shows where all men are portrayed as sex gods and it’s the women’s job to satisfy them, you have 8287465 other choices. Or the entire porn industry to satisfy you if you hate the fact that a woman might express her opinions regarding her sexual satisfaction. Or you can just go outside in society and see just how many times women get blamed for not being able to satisfy this cheating husbands/bfs. Don’t worry. A 14 episode Korean drama isn’t harming men’s position in society in any means.

But he does have a fragile pride that needed saving tho? Like she was totally right. The moment she decided to tell the truth, he got angry, defensive, and started gaslighting her. That’s exactly why she didn’t want to tell him.

In the flashbacks he was calling the FL’s mom mom. I think maybe the real FL was adopted or something and when he died in that car accident with his parents, the grandpa decided to take good care of her since his daughter also cherished her. It would also explain why he’s so passionate about taking back the company and what’s hers and stuff when he didn’t even recognize her and had to look at a pic of his fiancée in Ep 1.

Or they’re actual siblings which wouldn’t be that out of the ordinary with Asian dramas lol. Either way it’s kind of weird for him to be falling in love with someone who looks exactly like his adopted sister/sister. But since they don’t grow up together maybe it’s okay??? China’s always doing this kind of creepy but kind of not pseudo incest thing like Ana footed sister madly in love with her brother.

No. Why else would he do that whole dramatic, sticking a syringe in himself, and biting into his tie thing in the elevator??? They could’ve hacked the results even if it was her blood because the owner of the blood wouldn’t matter if they’re just gonna hack the results to be whatever they want. Instead he replaced his blood with hers and it came back positive.

They still do tho??? Have you seen “Some Day One Day?”
Regardless of relevancy, there’s been really good ones. I think more and more countries are moving away from the strictly romance genre. “Shards of Her” 2022 on Netflix is a great watch but relaly heart wrenching. “No Regrets in Life” is also a great 2022 drama if you’re looking for romance.

Japanese and Taiwanese dramas has always been more underrated compared Korean and Chinese ones despite making far better shows imo (Korean adaptations of Japanese dramas are rarely good while Japanese adaptations of Korean dramas often get hugger ratings despite not being as popular). It’s kind of unfair to compare the quality based on popularity imo.
