Interesting.... This is a common trope in Japanese doramas, at least in shojo manga derived dramas . Such a character…
There are definitely a lot of Tsundere in K-dramas but some tend to let 2nd female leads get ahead of themselves. Either bc they are following their family’s decision for them to be together, or they are blinded by their friendship, or they just ignore them instead of flat out turning them down. From what I have seen at least.
I know this doesn't cover C-Dramas, but what about Yehua from Eternal Love/ Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms? Something…
OMG that scene was so satisfying! I love Kings or Crown Princes with only one wife. Like the King from Queen of Dugu the older version not the latest one.
We missed a quintessential one. Xaoi Na'im played by Yang Yang in Love O2O. Even when his buddy tell him that…
Oh I love the ML in 020, I didnt wanna mix the male leads in K-dramas and C-dramas but he is definitely one of my faves. All his responses when discussing her are swoon worthy
I cant help but think of So Do Hyun from a Flower of evil and Kim Moo Young from A Smile has left your eye, Mr. Sunshine and the children in He is Psychometric and I think Kill It had a theme similar. To me child stories involving child abuse is something my heart is unable to handle. I am a high-level empath and I will cry hard when watching scenes depicting child abuse. Wang So was a very heartbreaking character to watch and like the author and someone in the comments has mentioned, no one deserved him.
Ugh I really dont like when the second lead couple dont get a happy ending., sometimes I feel like its the writer's attempt to be artistic and I think its just stingy. I love back hugs though so I wont say anything about those hehe
I personally am a big fan of shirtless scenes I can shamelessly admit to this however I do see the harm they cause especially in a conservative society like Korea. I come from a conservative country myself but in a different continent and I will like to say from my opinion this is a very complicated topic that has layers of depth.
On one had I personally believe that there is nothing shameful about the human body if the individuals feels empowered by showcasing it on his/her/their own terms then by all means they should do so. This is why I am a supporter of only fans communities as well as sex workers rights. If you love your body and want to profit of it then do you.
It becomes an entirely different problem with large companies begin to profit off your body because the individual loses control and their body becomes a product for profit for said company.
I also happen to have a personal belief that conservative countries like the one I come from create an environment that represses an individual sexuality and thus creates room for sex offenders. I do understand how radical this point of view is but If we saw sex and human bodies for what they are (normal part of life) instead of scandalizing them, what would society look like? Would we even be excited to see a shirtless scene or would we be desensitized ?
They basically needed a whole 2nd season for the story they tried to tell in the last episode. They should have gone a whole different route with DHS and Cha Ji Won's plotline. It was too ambitious to cover in one episode. Thet should have focused on him gaining his name back and prosecuting the town people who abused him and also on the victims families finally getting closure. Im still very happy with the drama though it deserves the 9.2 rating
Great article! I agree with everyone on your list, but there are two glaring omissions, in my humble opinion.…
I love her both actually but felt Bae Doo Na belonged more on the big screen although I love her work on both screens. Seo Ye Ji is someone I just discovered so I didnt have enough material to go by. I 100% love your honorable mentions
I love Min Min he is the PERFECT bf
I still need to watch Suspicious Partner
