Watch "Ruyi's royal love in the palace". Its about the same emperor and his harem, FL is Consort Xian (Ruyi). Wei Yinglou is a villain, but her name is Wei Yanwan. I enjoyed the drama, it is a bit sad towards the end but its realistic. I found many actresses are better looking in "Ruyi", even very good looking Eunuch Li Yu, and a doctor. The production is big budget, costumes are even more rich than in Yanxi drama. FL is more passive than Yinglou but intelligent and emotionally strong, mature lady. Its a very long, 87 episodes, but worth the watch.

Yeah I'm planning to watch Yanxi later, but Ruyi is so long, I'm still watching last 10 episodes. I do agree its bit boring here and there, but I like the FL. She is a strong character, I like that she doesn't go crazy and crying and loose her head even when faced with despair. She holds her head high and lets events happen as they should, she is a bit passive but thats because she is not a scheming lady. I think had they shortened the drama a bit it would have been better, 60 episodes is ideal for such a drama.

obssessed deranged fan are you? Yes I watched those drama, and that's why I came here to say I'm done with her drama... Both of those drama have ML who are my favourite so I watched them, and not fore her LMAO.... but she completely ruined Lovely Runner, I wish they had found another FL. I don't remember much of EY to even talk about. I guess it didn't make an impression on me since I don't remember it all.

I don't care she won awards... she don't deserve them. Horrible acting. The worst crap. Then everyone has different tastes, if you like overacting and silly little girl voices, then ok... but thats not my cup of tea. I will avoid her drama like the plague

Have you seen Story of Yanxi palace? That is a drama of choice to watch next after Ruyi Royal Love.. as its about the same emperor and his harem.

I find it a bit boring and tedious at times, 87 episodes is a lot to go through. I'm still on ep 53. Now skipping a bit but its a quality drama so I don't want to skip too much. The acting, costumes and sets are just so good. There is always someone to hate, one villain dies or is subdued, and another one is born....lol The best thing I find is that its real history, so i keep going and reading up on this Emperor, his wives and children on Wikipedia. I haven't watched Story of Yanxi palace, but I'm looking forward to seeing Yanwan as FL and a different perpective on her.

I'm watching this drama and currently on ep 47.... its quite boring at times, too long for my liking. But in other news, do you guys realise the emperor's father is actually depicted as 4th Prince in Scarlet Heart? He is ML and has romance with 21st century girl Maerta Ruoxi, the FL, played by Liu ShiShi lol.... Of course Scarlet Heart is fiction. And it was my 1st Cdrama too

She studied, yet she still can't act... I only choose quality drama to watch with top actors, she ain't one of them. You want to watch a good drama, watch My Dearest. Now thats a top drama with very talented actors.

You can change your voice, more stomach breathing, not nasal speech -actors and singers train in this at drama school. Its not just the voice, its the way she speaks... intonation on the words, overly childish way of speaking and terrible acting... she needs acting and speech lessons.

Agreed. She has over the top acting, annoying voice. I couldn’t watch Lovely Runner because of her. People really don’t know what good acting looks like.

I'm on ep 10... how did this get a rating of 9 in here? Mediocre plot, and too confusing with back and forth between the timelines. FL acting is cringe. Over the top acting and annoying voice.

I can’t watch anything after this, lol… the regular rom coms bore me to death. Tried to watch a light comedy- Dating in the kitchen, but dropped it. I’ll watch Story of Yangzi palace and Ruyi royal love later. Moving house, so no time now.

Really enjoyed this. Loved the different cultural themes. Being partly Turkmen origin, some of the clothing and mannerisms felt familiar. Beautiful love story, the acting was wonderful, the music was delightful, liked the irish tunes and the mongolian/kazakh inspired songs. But most of all i loved the beautiful nature -the snowcapped mountains, the green grass, the hills full of tall trees, fresh roaring streams of water flowing from the mountains and beautiful horses and yurts dotted across the hills. It seems that part of thw world is still free from tourism, and i hope it stays that way....for me its 10/10.

I haven't watched this version, but I watched the korean version 'He who can't marry' with Ji Jin Hee in the lead. It was fun but I heard the Japanese version which is the original is best. Japanese version also has a sequel.

Now on ep 56, and feels like too much dragging. Same torture, same struggles. They should have shortened it by another 10 episodes. And I haven't even started on the 12 special episodes. Acting is still very good, but the plot just going in circles...

Thoroughly enjoying this drama, although some of the political stuff goes over my head. I love the music in this drama, the opening credits are amazing. The acting and cinematography is superb. Plot is quite heavy but very engaging. I'm still on ep 42. Long way to go.

I watched him in Brocade Odyssey, really liked him. He has this charismatic aura about him and can easily steal the scene from most MLs. Trying to find a drama where he is the ML, historical drama. But he seems to only play these villain type 2nd ML roles. What a shame.

Yeah I gave it a 7/10... but I absolutely love the first 10 episodes or so. Its was hilarious. I laughed so much. After that FL becomes annoying and the drama just another cliche drama. People in here give high rating because of their favourite actor. Liu Yuning has become everyone's favourite darling. But I liked the actress playing FL, and want to watch her in some serious role -Royal Nirvana.

i just finished watching and if you're still contemplating it, don't watch it, its bad.... the only good thing is ML, his looks, character and chest hair....lol FL is awful. Everytime she gets a note about 2nd ML in danger, she runs to save him despite her being married to ML and knowing ML dislikes her putting herself in danger and running off to his rival. FL makes decisions that defies logic. Save your sanity and don't watch this. I only survived by skipping a lot. This is not a drama where you watch each and every scene because you will get your blood pressure up. Its annoying. But if you love Shawn Dou, then do watch it. He is serious eye candy... looks damn good in Uniform. Just gorgeous manly man.

Just finished this drama, really enjoyed it. Giving it 9/10 score. It is at times a bit boring and slow, but the intrigue is there and I love how intelligent the FL is. She gives me the Mei Changsu vibe from Nirvana in Fire, both have such strategic intellect, they always have a plan. There is no romance in this drama, so do not expect it however there is moment when you think surely a kiss is coming... There is genuine warmth between them and affection like friends and they work together even when you think they are not. I'm hoping for season 2 with romance, that would be lovely.
