this is overrated, I was soooo bored can't believe I actually finished it, the story makes no sense and I couldn't…
yes I'm struggling to watch it, only on ep 7.... can't see myself watching till the end. I will watch ep 7 and then decide or maybe watch last 3 episodes and call it a day....lol

I'm surprised it got an 8 in rating here, its quite boring and tedious. And ridiculous. He can't recognise faces, but he should be able to recognise voices? Makes no sense. Since everyone mentions this Veronica Park, I'll wait to see more of her. Anyone else struggling with this? Last drama I watched was Rooftop Prince, and that was extremely funny, compared to this.

I initially liked the korean more. But after some years and many more cdrama and kdrama watching, I developed…
yes I know she was trying to prevent her husband from taking a new wife, but why slice his face and not her older son's face instead? A mother doesn't slice a son's face if she loves him. She already hated him before she cut his face, it came easier to her. You don't just hate your son because of a cut. A mother loves her son with or without any scars.

I don't know how it is in the original book, but in the chinese version she loved her 14th son more... and there was no cut to the 4th face. Some viewers said ( which I assume is in the book) that she raised the 14th prince but not the 4th son, that might explain why she loved 14th prince more. This makes more sense. Korean version did that poorly, whether mother hated him due to the scar or not... it makes very little sense

wanted to watch this but then saw they had the hisotically accurate xing dynasty hair cuts😩😩
you get used to the hair. And yes most of them are very attractive - 13th, 14th and 8th are quite handsome. Also watch out for 4th prince always holding his pony tail in the back.... i laughed everytime when i saw it. The actor Nicky Wu must have loved his pony tail lol

Which version is better --- Chinese or Korean?
I initially liked the korean more. But after some years and many more cdrama and kdrama watching, I developed a taste for a well made asian drama and definitely think the chinese is better. It has more depth and more accuracy. While watching the korean version, it gives off a modern feel. The music while beautiful, doesn't go with the historical drama. It feels very much a 'pretty boy' idol, kpop infused historical drama and might be why it completely failed in Korea and therefore they didn't do season 2.

The chinese version is more authentic, they try to give an accurate historical version without making it overly emotional and nonsensical. Like one thing I couldn't understand why mother of 4th prince hated him, she even sliced his face when he was a child. There was no reason to hate him, yet there was no explanation. In chinese version she prefers the 14th but doesn't outwardly hate the 4th and is only negative towards him when she thinks he stole the throne from her other son.

I think you should watch both, they are both good in their own ways. And there are lots of changes that the korean version made. Chinese has season 2, which i didn't like at first watch but i will rewatch it just to see if i still dislike it.

Should i watch this version or the Chinese version. One reviewer said that this version suffered from editing…
chinese version is more historical and authentic. Korean version is too much popculture type, all good looking actors and idols with catchy modern songs. Chinese version cinematography is amazing, budget is bigger, beautiful sets. You are really emersed in a different timeframe. Korean version westernised it too much, at least thats how I feel. You don't really get the feel that it is meant to be 1000 years ago. Yes watch both. Chinese version has season 2, which I wasn't impressed with. But the main leads in chinese version got married in real life!

The ending: Jae Min become possessed by an old midget goblin demon soul and goes to buy a gun like an emo kid…
Do what i did, first watch the ending scene on youtube so you know what to expect. Then watch the whole drama, since you know the end, you won't feel upset. Instead it will make sense because the characters are crazy, not a single one of them is right in their head, they all obssessing over each other or money/status. At the end, you will feel relieved and maybe laugh like crazy, finally its over! They don't make such drama anymore, crazy melodrama. Acting is solid, and those two men - I couldn't pick which one was better looking. Both tall and handsome....

Short version- it turns into a soap opera - theres cheating, multiple wives, him getting another woman preg, crazy…
i'm watching this drama now, watching it for Wallace Chung. I love his obssessive characterisation, he did that well also in 'General and I'. But i'm not liking that this drama has a happy ending after his betrayal. I really like the doctor in the series, I wish she would have ended up with him. The book ending seems crazy as well. Reminds me of kdrama "What happened in Bali" it has a crazy tragic ending, that made complete sense because of how entangled and obssessive the characters were with each other. It was so shocking, I was laughing at the end.... I would recommend if anyone wants to watch it. Its really old drama.

The main creative team remains intact: Zhang Ruoyu (Fan Leisure) and Chen Doming (Qing Emperor) have confirmed…
me too, I really like him in his role, I can't see him being played by anyone else. He is so eccentric, and I think Duan Duan brings that special spice to that role.

I’ll start by saying I’m 45 and can wrap my head around some pretty twisted and taboo things. I’m all in…
i haven't watched this drama, but it seems it was meant to be an older man/younger woman romance as shown by the tags. And its nothing unusual in todays world. It happens all the time in real life. I know 2 couples personally who have been together for decades and have children, age gap 20 plus years. These days we also have older women, the cougars, paired with men in their 20s in real life, and I watched a kdrama depicting that if you want to see,its quite fun -A Witch's Love. ML is the hottie Park Seo Joon

I don't hate this drama but am dropping this early (ep10), because the general (ML) was a total SIMP, and I wanted…
You gave up too early. He is powerful general. But she is very smart as strategist as she has a special gift, she has a photograhic memory, she remembered each detail of a military book she studied as child. Of course, he can't compete with that. However he is powerful general. And when they come together as one, no one can outsmart them.... you missed out on a great drama. Its not perfect, there are many dragging parts, but the romance is exquisite and wonderful chemistry

Title General and I Spoiler
does this have love triangle? fl like other ml?
i would say he fell in love with her at first sight, while she tried running away from him. She fell for him later. He recognised her as the girl from his past through that hair clip, so he clung to her from day 1. I don't know if the book is different, but the drama version is as i depicted.

I'm watching thiss now, just finished episode 4. Reminds me of a historical cdrama, Romance of tiger and rose. Similar theme of the modern day girl ending up in her own screenplay, as a minor character, who then becomes a major character. Its quite funny. Anyone watched this?

How's the comedy? How good is the story compared to Love like the Galaxy?
historical with comedy is definitely Joy of Life. Really funny characters and dialogues, however not a romance focused drama.

Just finished watching this drama. Its a good 8/10 for me. I think the pacing was a bit slow in this season, about episode 13-14 it started to get more interesting. But I started to lose interest after episode 36, when Pinjing leaves the city. It became slow and i feel like the villains were getting more screentime. However the biggest issue in this season - well ep 27. I won't mention what exactly. But that was stupid. He probably was the biggest reason many watched this drama. The story suffered from this.

But I liked how viewers got to get close to the Changlin Mansion family, the endearing relationships, loyalty, brotherhood, family and history, loss and heartaches... I felt it all. The villains were not as charismatic as in NIF 1. I didn't understand what was the reason for the Guru to try hurt the Changlin Mansion? What was he going to get from it? But Yuanqi's reason for wanting to get rid of them, I understand. While the PM and the empress - they were afraid of the power Changlin Mansion had so they wanted to weaken them to prevent any threats to the emperor, which obviously backfired.

It was fun spotting some actors from season 1, the biggest was the evil Xia Jiang from season 1 coming back as a good and caring doctor lol. And how season 1 characters are mentioned here and there and the use of the Mei Changsu tunnel and his braclet that helps PingJing at the end. Season 1 was definitely better executed but season 2 was still pretty good. I definitely felt like the legacy of Jingyan, Linshu/Mei Changsu and even Commander Meng lived on in this season.

Looking forward to season 3, whenever it comes out.

Don’t mix a person’s life with their career. We don’t know him personally so there’s no reason for us…
I'm watching Nirvana in Fire 2, his acting is good. Im enjoying this drama. And you should stop believing every little celebrity gossip. At the end of the day, we dont know these actors personally. Everthing else is just speculation.

Any romance? I hold not to see NiF season 2 because I cannot move on from season 1. Season 1 is epic, but the…
They should at least have Wang Kai and HuGe come back in guest roles in season 3.... that would be awesome. And a final season 4 in modern era with all returning cast from season 1 including Meng and Marquis Yan, Jingrui/Yujin and even Prince Yu. I love them all!
