I need to catch up but I just wanted to comment that this ML actor is marvelous when it comes to roles like this fight choreo and wirework. Obviously he is very good looking but I'm always so impressed with his action sequences because he does seem to do the ethereal grace thing well. That's all I hope this is good. The first episode definitely grabbed my attention.
I will be honest that so far to me, this show is like a box of chocolate samplers. Some parts of it are just fantastic and my fav and there are some parts that I just don't care or even annoy me (like those chocolates with fruit filling, just why). I will keep watching though because it is entertaining and the actors are definitely putting in the work.
I'm pretty sure it was the prince who shot her and pushed her off the cliff. They really tried to make us think…
This theory is intriguing and I can see the ruthless power grab type from the Jinxiu prince. But I just don't get why he would go that far to assassinate the FL if he just wanted the marriage alliance then coup on his bro emperor later on. She is his subordinate so if he just broke up with her it's not like anything would happen, unless I guess he wanted to just inflame the war and continue to beat the war drum by blaming her death on Susha.
i really wish they make special episode of Yu nian and shen cheng! they broke my heart
Yes it was bittersweet and also beautiful. There was so much love for their parents and they were good kids from good people. Knowing that they could prevent the hell their parents experienced and the 30+ years of sorrow they endured, they opted to sacrifice their present for a hope for them. I felt sad for YN and SC and wish they too had a good life.
I was not expecting to cry buckets 😭 The FL and ML did a superb job portraying these two broken and battered souls who still find love and hope in their hell. I only knew the FL from her other recent drama but I think she has a bright future for her because she was fantastic here. I thought the ending was fitting and hopeful. I hope these two will get some more great roles in their career.
This is very cute. Also I like how the FL is successful in modern life and is still witty and smart even in this new world. I also like the way the king chuckles with delight when he eats because good food does feel that way!
This show is a nightmare for anyone on calorie restrictions. I have to have a full stomach when watching because all the food looks so good!
1) I feel 33 episodes are too few: I want SJ interacting with Tingyan in her modern world - which is Tingyan's…
I agree with this , I am truly hoping for a good wrap to this show if it ends in the modern time, at least one or two episodes for it. I'm eyeing the episode count and there is only 9 more to go and people are saying there is another arc after this...? I hope it is not rushed at the end.
Ah it's sweet that he suspects she was never Liao Tingyan in the first place but he doesn't care because he will always find her soul no matter what her name is or what she looks like (is this foreshadowing for the end?)
I liked how her gaze was cold and wary in the beginning and then became warmer when she realized some truths. The FL is doing a great job.
can't stand how novel readers lose their sh!t and get so insanely overdramatic every time there are minor changes…
I agree. A bad adaptation can still be a good work on its own. This is why I don't read the books or try to watch with a blank canvas even if I know the work it's from. The purists have a vision and if it's not met 100% the work is considered automatic trash.
If anything I feel like this show has set a new standard of what a young couple in love looks like in cdrama because sometimes it feels like I'm intruding on their privacy.
I also enjoyed watching FL being able to fight in Ep20. I know that she was more known for a role in an action series and it shows because she looked awesome.
the cruelty of the 8 clans is beyond me. Eating people, breeding them, putting restrictions on them if they escape.…
It was super heartbreaking when he was yelling at them that they will die if they run and then they knowingly killed themselves rather than stay alive. It was horrific, tbh a clean death is too good for the 8 Palace leaders.
The themes are shocking. I have an objection though. Ep 13 is all about him being inherently evil and prophesied…
I don't think there is forgiveness in the future. The 8 Palace cultivators are truly evil so I think he will still punish them. I think the concern was that the ML will go berserk and kill everyone, including innocent mortals.
My theory is that since he controls the path to cultivation in this world, he'll somehow cut that off and they will become mortals. It sounds kind of lame but in cultivation novels, being a mortal is pretty much the absolute worst because you have no power and short lived like ants. For beings obsessed with power and immortality this would be a nightmare. I have not read the novel and I don't care to, this is just my theory based on reading and watching a lot of cultivation based media.
A few thoughts: I hate that the bad guys lived. The actor playing Shi Qianlu is doing a great job because I want to punch his face whenever he's on. Ruling is starting to disappoint me. Immortals actually exist and they didn't do squat regarding the plight of the ML's people. (I didn't know they exist in this world so I am disappointed by them too. Also if they didn't want him to cause the great catastrophe...wouldn't it have been just easier to let him die?) The ML hanging out in FL's soul manor made me chuckle. It's like her bf wrecked his place so he just moved himself into her nicer apt and he's now just chilling there. This dual cultivation was way more steamy compared to the one in Immortal Ascension.
Can someone answer me a question about the fast track episodes on Youku, please? When purchasing the fast track…
The $2.99 one time will open all the episodes marked TVOD which are one day in advance every day. However, near the end they also may release express packages to view the last episodes earlier and this does not include those and express package is purchased separately. Pretty sure that's how it works with Youku.
Hooly crap Episode 12 - what kind of grimdark storyline did I just watch? Wow the evil and cruelty of the cultivators here is like beyond 10 and it was kind of traumatic. A nuke is too good for these people, does this world not have like divine or heavenly retribution because it is needed here.
I'm confused though, she was sent there to kill him, right? How is she supposed to kill him when she doesnt even…
Yes in the very beginning they show her modern self and her name is Zou Yan. Apparently the actual LYT was snooping around the mountain and damaged her soul manor? Which is when ZY entered LYT so she is trying to piece together her host's identity as well (not very enthusiastically, I think given the chance she would've been fine sleeping through the whole thing).
I am baffled. Is the international cdrama market so much larger for Disney+ that Tencent won't put this on their own WeTV English app? I have all the subs (including D+) but I don't really watch D+ for cdramas. Just confused that apparently there are 6 episodes out but US subscribers still can't see any of them. I guess I will wait for either D+ or Viki to eventually make this available.
Wang Ying Lu (aka Feng Bao Bao ❤️ from the awesome drama I’m Nobody) is perfect for this role! She’s so…
I agree, she is endearing to watch. In some other shows, the FL is obviously cute-coded in the script so they are supposed to be quirky and their antics are supposed to be lovable and endearing to the ML but it can come across as just cringe and frustrating to watch. But the FL here is delightful to watch so it's easy to see why the ML would not kill her right away.
