I gotta admit the ear-redness in this drama, especially Yeon Woo, has been off the charts. Its cute to see but also a sign that they may not prepare these poor guys for the intimate acting like they do in Thai BLs with their workshops XD This happened in Mr Heart too.

Yeah the reason its not brought up often is likely because in the novel Yeon Woo learns about Yoo Hans face blindness way later. In the drama they need it mentioned immediately cause they don't have the time to do things according to the novel. Yeon Woo in general remembers things of Yoo Han EXTREMELY well, he pays a lot of attention to him in the novel. Noting whenever he isn't called pretty or if Yoo Han looks sad. So seeing the drama its not a surprise he remembers Yoo Hans face blindness and considers it.

Again though, this show has difficulty standing on its own because as you can see I have to use the novel to explain things in the drama. That shouldn't be the case but it is what it is. I'm hoping this gets better as the story progresses.

Yesss exactly I was thinking about Adachi from CM while doing the reach-thing XD Its true they could've done it right, likely the extreme cutting of scenes to fit the time is the series largest problem.

I don't think you're being hard on the show, it's good to point out its flaws. Some of the scenes genuinely could have been way better with some more time dedicated to them. The colour rush scenes are fine (its mainly Yeon Woo looking impressed anyway) but the normal intimate interactions (without color rush) are lacking due to time constraints.

First episode its mentioned by the friends of Yoo Han that he has face blindness. Agreed that this concept does need longer episodes to develop.

Completely understandable. It is definitely a strange relationship the two share and the fact it misses context from the novel due to time constraints doesn't help.

Yoo Han is likely just a very lonely person from what I'm understanding of his character right now. He has likely been searching for someone to attach to like this but could never quite find a person he got along with. When this probe-mono thing happened to him he likely just thought it was meant to be between him and Yeon Woo. Taking the mono-probe thing as being soulmates which is why he treats Yeon Woo as if they're already a couple.

Yeon Woo (which is the perspective we follow) obviously doesn't see the soulmate meaning to the mono-probe thing. He mainly sees the danger a mono can pose. He doesn't accept the touching in the beginning but gives in eventually. Its a monos nature to be very possessive of a probe so its fairly natural for him to accept the touching very easily after a few color rushes have happened. His mind is slowely giving into the natural urge of a mono after all.

Anyway, its supposed to be the dramas job to explain all this but yeah they lack time for that a lot, leaving just a few vague words at times. I think the main difficulty of this drama is both the lack of context and trying to figure out the mindset and condition of a mono. Probes are normal humans so they're easy to decipher but a mono is much more complicated as their inner desire for colour is very strong.

The main criticism I have of the show is that I do miss how Cherry Magic handled its intimate moments with such care, having a good scene leading up to the final hug/handholding. I hope the following episodes will allow for more focus on the full emotional experience of the characters. Not just Yeon Woos color high but also legitimate emotional moments from which their relationship builds. I have hope for scenes like the painting-scene where he sees his mom in colour for the first time.

Yeah In Cherry Magic this scene in ep 4 would've been handled very differently. Focus would've been on the events leading up to that scene so that we get a full appreciation of intimacy/chemistry on display (no matter the amount). Color Rush doesn't have the time to do that so we immediately skip to the part where its already happening without emotional buildup. While its sweet to have a clingy ML.. We're not getting the full treatment as viewers into their characters emotional journey with scene transitions like that.

Audio wasn't the worst to me since it was only once but I am hoping for no more rain scenes because of how it affected the sound.

Yeah to a degree he controls his obsession by being aware of it but aside from walking away for a short while he doesn't seem to be doing anything to actively avoid Yoo Han.

He even attempts to fool himself (his concious self) into thinking its just a bit more and then its over (rooftop scene). Knowing that color rush is addictive he shouldn't even have tried to fool himself if he was completely capable of rational thought. Yeon Woo is going to lose to that inner desire and I'm hoping that both Yoo Han can handle that and that Yeon Woo makes peace between his subconcious desire and his concious thought (without resorting to kidnapping).

Yes I think that is going to be innevitable that the final product will seem rushed. I'm hoping to use the novels information to fill in as much of the gaps as possible. Of course a show should be able to stand on its own but this is just extremely short for such a mystery story in a different worldsetting AND with romance mixed in. The concept is good but the shows format likely won't allow for a great execution of the idea. At least we have season 2 I guess

Ohh I've watched far worse romcoms from Japan in 2020 so I really think it depends on what you're comparing it with.
It is a simple plot but that doesn't halt my enjoyment of a show personally. I love a chaotic show at times but I also feel at ease with the more simple plotlines that focus on heartwarming scenes.

To be fair we could kinda puzzle together the deal from dialogue in the earlier episodes. I thought of it as a potential reason without having seen the novel details back then but its definitely not straightforward.

We knew that YH was faceblind from episode 1 and when the color rush happened he paid special attention to Yeon Woos eyes. Later he says he likes seeing his eyes during color rush. Technically Yeon Woo could've come to the conclusion that YH studying his face so closely helped him with his face recognition.

Yeon Woo likely thought of reasons why a probe would want to help him and since ''love'' isn't in his vocabulary he immediately went to ''ohh his faceblindness''. But yeah they didn't show that moment so to a viewer it can be a bit out of the blue.

As for the caramel eyes thing... There's really no excuse for that. The drama makers messed it up by forgetting that he can't know colour names on his own XD Or mayby they hoped the viewers wouldn't notice since they couldn't fit it in. If I'm really reaching here... It could be that its Yeon Woo in the far future narrating this part XD

1. The mom kidnapping mystery.
So did Yeon Woo see his mom get drowned? We keep seeing that scene where she is under water. If Yeon Woo saw that, I wonder how much of the kidnapping of his mom he himself saw.
Also kinda strange that his mono mom was trying to teach him colours despite knowing he's a mono. However, apparently a mono can see colour in their memories too during color rush so mayby not a bad idea after all.

2. Going back to what happened in episode 4. We've seen a few developments.

-Yeon Woo allows Yoo Han to touch him now after he shoved him before
-The kidnap-tendency/obsession phase has begun but Yeon Woo is honest about it to YH
-Monos can even access memories in colour during color rush
-The effects of a color rush are still dangerous and its likely good that YH keeps YW grounded in reality

Yeon Woo has a difference between how he thinks and what he wants. Its really unfortunate that Yeon Woo is so hesitant about making connection with Yoo Han because of the monos kidnap-tendency. It makes scenes have a double feeling because I'm trying to figure out how much of the person speaking at any time is Yeon Woos conciousness and how much is just his inner desire. ESPECIALLY during the color rush when in my opinion concious Yeon Woo has very little agency over his actions. Because even outside of color rush he already does things his conciousness doesn't agree with (putting jacket on to go outside, remembering YH phone-number, not distancing from YH). Making him admitting to wanting to see colours a bit less impressive, cause obviously he would when he's in the middle of a color rush craving. I make different decisions on a hungry stomach too.

I need that connection moment between his concious and desire to happen soon because otherwise it'll be a bit strange to watch. It really feels like Yeon Woo is two different people in one body sometimes right now. One trying to distance himself and the other already obsessing over Yoo Han and colour. I'd love to see his final form emerge, which is hopefully balanced and in a trusting relationship with Yoo Han.

Yeah I've been reading the novel details to fill myself in on some of the detail for the drama but a lot of events indeed happen in a very short amount of time for the drama. I also think they cut some transition-moments that would've make scenes look more natural, because of the lack of time for each episode.

Yeah but the whole basic plot of his mom missing and the main lead dealing with some issues kinda doesn't lend itself well to comedy. They'd have to change the main story if they were to involve comedy

I don't think you'll find Yoo Han creepy for much longer, he has reasons to act the way he does. The story will start introducing darker elements soon (just warning you in advance) but there will also be moments showing a lot of chemistry between the two guys. Its certainly a unusual story but I like how much theorizing it allows for since its a mystery ^^

Yeon Woo definitely is restraining himself from becoming closer to Yoo Han but very much like Yoo Han he is intrigued so he doesn't completely distance himself either. They just find each other fascinating.
The probe that won't leave and the mono that wants to deprive himself of colour for the probes safety. A very unusual combination.

YH is definitely an exception among probes since he is more obsessed with his mono than his mono is with him. Of course that will change since monos do tend to go towards obsession quickly.

I personally never doubted Yoo Han had good intentions, its very clear in the trailer. Sure he's a bit more forceful in the beginning but otherwise Yeon Woo would likely never get to see colours.
The rainbow prism scene was indeed very meaningful. It's where Yoo Han basically tells Yeon Woo he's willing to be fully his.

At this point YH takes away the light. Could be because he wants Yeon Woo to look at him like that too, seeing beyond just the colours and appreciating him as a person too. As you said, he definitely wants to be more than just a probe to Yeon Woo. He's also likely considering that he still needs to convince Yeon Woo to actually study colours with him.
