Honestly wasn't bothered by it. I'm sure they would've used a real boy if they found some really handsome young…
I think the hairstyle has definitely been helping in selling the whole ''guy'' image to me. Don't know how others view it though , I thought it was nice

Title Emperors and Me Spoiler
hi...i watched a few episodes but i stopped at the part where it felt like le xue had a thing with qin shang.…
Oh don't worry about Luo Xi. Those emperors are all basically bound to her forever due to past events. Le Xue cares the most about Luo Xi, she tolerates the emperors too because she knows they are needed for Luo Xi. Luo Xi saved her (you'll find out how later) so its only logical she cares for her so much.

hi...i watched a few episodes but i stopped at the part where it felt like le xue had a thing with qin shang.…
Ok I made my original post as vague as possible to avoid spoiling anything. Cause some people get really angry about that sort of stuff. Don't quite remember the exact details about it being book-travel either, just remember it randomly being mentioned at 1 point.
The story:
Le Xue is not an enemy, she gets stuck in the past (or another dimension if you want to believe the drama). She absorbs some ancient evil that keeps her immortal. Eventually she loses all emotions and just becomes a husk that keeps an ancient evil within her for hundreds of years. She has no romance story and no purpose beyond protecting Luo Xi by preparing things for her arrival.
After the 3 emperors have been collected by time traveling 3x Le Xue appears in the modern time. Here you get the backstory of how the emperors are related to each other and Luo Xi. Luo Xi wants to help Le Xue when she finds out about the evil she's keeping sealed inside. I will tell you that Luo Xi, Le Xue and the 3 emperors all share a connection with that ancient evil through an event that happened in the past.

Preferences are a thing and I'm not giving you restrictions here on what to watch, every individual is unique.…
Well I don't have strong feelings about what type of viewership the Untamed has to be honest. I know it took multiple BL and Wuxia communities by storm but didn't look into the lists of users of this page. I'm not aware at all which percentage is Bl-fan, Wuxia-fan ect.. As you said, it's for everyone and I agree of course. I do still think someone with a BL and/or cdrama background will be more likely to get into Untamed but that's just my opinion. Since I assumed someone with a preference for certain tags (bromance for example) will be more likely to end up watching this. However, you're right that the popularity of Untamed created a more diverse viewership which users I might've encountered less/may have been less vocal.

Anyway, I've realised throughout this conversation that the word BL is a point of conflict here. I don't know which official website you use but I have found some more evidence to point to a BL-connection here.

First of all about BL, yaoi is just the Japanese version of BL. We refer to something as yaoi when its BL from Japan but people internationally generally just use the word BL to describe male/male Japanese dramas.
So when do we refer to a novel as BL? Not just when there's 2 male leads of course but when the male leads either become a couple or just hook up.

The use of ''pure love'' 纯爱 from your website may just be refering to our male leads. Because they are often described as soulmates. I can't prove that claim of course but lets look at some other stuff.

So you may or may not be aware of the term danmei. This is basically the Chinese version of the word BL. From wikipedia: ''The term itself means "indulgence in beauty" and symbolizes the romanticizing of male–male relationships, from a female perspective.''

So visiting the MDL-page of the author of the novel will give you this information: ''Mo Xiang Tong Xiu is a Chinese author well-known for her danmei''. I've also visited the Netflix page of Untamed which also calls the novel a danmei one.

I do respect your opinion on the viewer stats since I didn't follow those myself and mostly based my opinions about viewers on the interactions I've had with others myself. Refusing to acknowledge the novel in relation to the drama is something I can also respect since it's a seperate work of art. And I don't claim the Untamed IS a BL but I do think it attracts a BL audience among others. I still believe it would've been a BL in a world without censorship though but as you said, we'll never know.

Then you mentioned your last note which suprised me considering you seem a veteran of the novel. You said: ''MDZS is not a 'bl novel' (whateve that means), it is a Romance 爱情!''
Well in that case I guess the wikipedia page about The Untamed is wrong?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Untamed_(TV_series)
Genuinely asking here because it says and I quote here ''a 2019 Chinese television series based on the BL xianxia novel Mo Dao Zu Shi by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu'' as the first sentence.
Am I misunderstanding something here? Idk mayby wikipedia is wrong though but I'd love to hear your opinion about it.
BL also literally just means there is a male/male relationship. Why are you against using it to describe the novel?

Preferences are a thing and I'm not giving you restrictions here on what to watch, every individual is unique. There are users who only watch Japanese dramas for example and there's also users who watch everything and that's all okay.

The difference is when you start talking about groups like kdrama fans, cdrama fans or BL fans. If a group/community doesn't have a specific interest then why is it even a unique group at all? Yes Untamed is for everyone but claiming that cdrama and BL fans aren't more likely to like the Untamed is a bit strange to me. Just kinda seemed logical to me that those groups (!!not individuals but groups!!) would be attracted more towards this type of drama.

As for your statement on the BL thing. We all know the only reason it isn't is because of censorship (caused by homophobia) from China. If you don't want to believe those characters are a couple that's fine since the drama leaves that up to interpretation but I do suggest reading the novel sometime.

Oh in that case please ignore my most recent comment which is basically the same topic in response to another comment-thread.
Glad to hear you're open to all genres, that gives you a lot of options! A lot of people tend to stick to certain ones or even to certain countries because of preferences.

Nice and yes the post-Untamed effect is real. When people stick to this drama at some point the Untamed addiction sets in. Persevere through the initial confusion and you will receive great rewards.

I loved the drama so much that I keep thinking about the story even when I'm working ,, it took a lot of my mind…
Oh his original body got destroyed, it was his soul they were mostly after since they knew he could possess someone if left unchecked.
I assumed he just got the same biological age as the new body he received from Mo Xuanyu. He doesn't seem to remember anything important from those 16 years of death so I think he's mentally still the same age as when he died.

Could someone tell me what this drama is about in more of a simpler term?? The ratings and comments all seem so…
Watching this drama is an experience.
I'm gonna attempt a drama summary as well but a little shorter and more focused on the beginning of the drama.

The characters:
Wei Ying/Wei Wuxian/Yiling Patriarch: Has black robes with a bit of red mixed in, is a wanted criminal and has died before. Uses a flute as a weapon.
Lan Zhan/Lan Wangji/Hanguang-Jun: Has white robes and is very serious, has been searching for his dead friend for 16 years and feels guilt.

There's also Jiang Chen who wears purple robes. He's the angry non-biological brother of Wei Ying and he blames his adopted brother for a lot. He has a magical whip from his ring and has been searching for his dead brother too.

Wen Ning is the zombie dude who wears black and listens to Wei Ying. He's adorable and extremely nice.

There's also some dude with yellow robes who is also angry a lot. He was born from the sister of Jiang Chen and he doesn't have his parents anymore due to things that happened.

The colour system:
Every sect in this drama has their own colour and members will wear their sects colour so you can identify what they belong to. Then theres the students of the Lan sect who all wear white robes because they are forced to study at this sect. Even people from other sects end up there and have to wear white when attending school.
The start of the story:
It all starts with Wei Ying dying and Lan Zhan calling out to him one last time. Wei Ying gets resurrected in a new body and tries to remain hidden because he is a wanted criminal. Lan Zhan eventually recognises him (the reason how he recognised him is adorable but you'll find out way later) and Wei Ying faints after getting attacked by his brother Jiang Cheng. This starts a 30-episode long flashback explaining how Wei Ying died and other things.

Okay i just wan't to say that both the "Untamed" and "It's Okay To Not Be Okay" are both great dramas in its own…
They are both completely different dramas with different audiences. For example, there's no reason for specifically BL fans or cdrama fans to watch IOTNBO likewise there's no reason for kdrama fans to watch Untamed.
Edit: Watch whatever you want though and don't feel restrained but its just an example of the specific interests of groups of people.
Sure there is some overlap between fandoms since a lot of people just watch drama from every country but again it's a different audience.
The Untamed fandom has no reason to trashtalk a kdrama since its like comparing an orange with an apple. Both have their qualities and some like 1 more based on their tastes.

Title My Bubble Tea Spoiler
Alright so Boss cupid dude does tea-poison (love potion) our FL but I honestly don't blame him. Imagine having to spend 14 years (your entire youth) in prison for falling in love with some human.
Boss was employed as a child and had to live as an invisible existence just sniping people with love bullets until he met his love the witch daughter.

So he gets back from heaven prison and finds out that despite him not shooting the love bullet she's still with some human guy making him a second male lead. So heaven gets angry with him again for his love-adventure and he has to make her fall in love within 48 hours or he basically gets stuck in a very employee-unfriendly heaven again. I would gun fight the witch mother too for that tea just to become a human. He didn't get stuck in prison for 14 years just to miss out on becoming a human. I'm sorry to Light but at least his life isn't at risk if he doesn't get with the girl.
And that's the tea.
