I've honestly seen worse in some other Asian dramas. Ever seen the Thai drama Sung Tong (2018)? I think you'll agree with me on this one. I liked that it was some mythological tale but parts of the story wouldn't be done the same in other countries. I think there's a lot more dramas like that which just fly under the radar because no one outside of the Asian country itself is watching it.

I don't think the destruction of the second lead couple should make you give the whole show a low rating. I think it's sad too but I completely understand why it had to happen.
Reason 1:
The amount of chemistry.
The second leads were never meant to have much time dedicated to them in the first place and never would've hit the same chemistry as the first leads. Yes they learned to love each other but it was clearly not as magical of a lovestory as the main leads.

Seo Dan was not a woman that would've easily given into romance, while she did open up in the last episodes they would've had to give them much more time after the wounding in order to achieve a similar level of the first leads. What would be more memorable? A heartwrenching scene of loss and coping or the second leads meeting again while the main leads have the exact same plotpoint? Seeing the same thing happen twice will lessen the effect and make people take the lives of the characters less seriously.

Reason 2:
Realism. A lot of other characters survive and the drama still wants to be a serious one at times. So ending it with an important death is the perfect way of stating the seriousness of the situation for all characters and the risks they all took.

Reason 3:
The amount of storyteling needed to finish the drama.
Sure they could've ended it with the guy alive but then they would've had to explain how he would be able to live with Seo Dan in NK despite being in a dangerous position. That takes time and they had to show a LOT of other characters as well.

So basically, the second leads got unlucky because they couldn't get the same plotpoint as the main leads, the show needed to set a mood and they didn't get enough screentime to develop a unique happy ending for them.

I miss them already... Especially all the North Korean characters since their interactions were just so human and their curiosity was boundless.

I think they did want to add some realism into the drama since almost every other character escapes death multiple times. Besides, Seo Dan definitely picked up her life as an independent person while for example the character of Se Ri would never be able to do that. I was happy to see Seo Dan develop and her knowing that she was loved.

Everyone here is very enthusiastic for good reason but I also feel a bit sad. I will miss every character from this drama now that it's over.... Watching this series will make you overwhelmed with emotions. Crying, adoration, laughing, anger I think everyone has felt that while watching this. This isn't your regular kdrama love story. It communicates longing, distance and eternal love very well.
Thank you Se Ri, for descending into the lives of kdrama fans.

Also, I think Switzerland is definitely going to be a more popular destination for kdrama fans in the future.

This was a great show, the first episodes are a bit confusing since I felt empathetic towards the youngest boy Numata Shigeyuki and he gets hurt a lot. After things start changing for the youngest, the long clash between the sociopathic older brother Numata Shinichi and the teacher Yoshimoto Kouya starts. This clash is honestly the most entertaining thing about the show since I also dislike heartless people like Numata Shinichi and the teacher knows how to get to him very well by threatening his comfortable position.
If you can stand the violent teaching methods of the first episodes you will get treated with seeing the amount of hidden plans this teacher has to reform the family and his mysterious origin. The ending is also nicely done.

Okay so I would advice you to watch this if you think mysophobia (obsessive cleaning/not touching dirty things) scenes are interesting or funny. You'll see a lot of that in this drama and if you don't like that concept then you will not like the series overall.
The first few episodes there will be no chemistry yet since Yang Sun Gyeol needs to sort his feelings out (he is pretty much socially isolated). At first he thinks she is too disgusting to even touch but he finds himself getting closer to her and when the realisation of love hits there is tons of chemistry.

The scenes where he saves her despite his disorder or the scenes where she protects him from his fears are really great and show how much they are willing to do for each other.
The large middle part is great and made me look forward to what new things Yang Sun Gyeol gets to try out since he lived such a sheltered life before. You'll definitely like seeing this guy break through his comfort zone and he is very cute since he protects but also needs protection from germs/people/insects sometimes.

Then at the final 2 episodes something happens and every character will become unreasonable except Oh Sol's father (saviour of this drama) and Yang Sun Gyeol. I'd skip the last 2 episodes if you don't want to be frustrated. Communication and forgiveness are definitely a problem in the relationship of theirs unfortunately. This problem becomes too evident at the end but its ok in the middle.

I've never related so much to a Chinese period-actor eating a hamburger in a different version of ancient China while crying.
The fact that this wasn't properly subbed is a crime and what's up with the low ratings? It's a fun story about a reverse harem in a period-setting. Should honestly be rated higher for the unique concept, even if it did lack a bit. The queen doesn't take her job seriously and just has fun playing games and drinking with the dudes (her 30 husbands, which is ~4 guys in the actual show), it's all in good fun. There is major heartbreak sometimes and the ending is non-existant since the show just stops suddenly.
I can only guess the abrupt ending was because Chinese censors finally found out about its existance.

Yes I get that it reminds people of ''Go Princess Go'' but that was a guy transforming into a girl and the gender roles were the same in that universe. This drama has different gender roles since the guys have to go through pregnancy (and no I don't think they can get pregnant from kissing as someone here suggested, they just really seem to like it).

Unfortunately not, there are some rare cute moments between (when they work together/get drunk) them but it's mostly rivalry over XX. It's honestly a shame but it's from China so it's expected.
I called it BR/BL-like and not real BL because it has at least one of the guys attracted to someone they perceive as male (crossdressing XX). I believe that you will be provided with plenty of fanservice regardless of the lack of real BL though.. There's a lot of goodlooking soldiers with uniforms.

The episodes I described have scenes that either deal with open love towards XX as a guy, attraction to XX as a guy or for example one of the guys coming out to his friend. Sure some other episodes have tiny scenes like smiles/waves but these are the ones that stood out to me. I honestly couldn't really get into the story itself (about war and terrorism) so just focused on the soldier-characters.

So what I gather from all these comments/reviews is to just watch the first few episodes until the dragging/needless violence starts and then drop it?

Glad to be alive to witness this film make such a great impact. Hope to see more quality movies from Korea in the future!

Second, their environment is a lot more conservative and male-oriented (serious business and all that) so they are less likely to suspect someone dressing like another gender. Third, the whole premise is that only a guy can take the role of leader so they don't expect that a girl would even do that much effort to blend in and get the role with all the harsh tests.
The guy who shared the room with the crossdressing girl should probably have been able to see through the excuses though...

Yea... Well, the first episodes aren't even that bad. Up till episode 9 it's pretty peaceful and innocent to watch.
Episode 10 probably has the first massmurder by a criminal and episode 11 has the first attempt at genocide, with 2 more to follow in the series. Other things that happen is a lot of people getting hanged, a guy mutilating his own face, a lot of necromancy, a lot of stabbings and a guy getting tortured and beheaded.
I personally don't enjoy watching violence or gore but I could easily handle this series since I just focused on the story of the main characters. Most of the violence is only shown for a short period of time or left to the imagination.

For those unaware of what the teaser contains. It shows a wedding scene between Mew and Gulf (Tharn and Type)! It's definitely worth watching if you just finished Tharntype and miss seeing the guys every week. It's the wedding scene you've always wanted to see with the perfect couple. This clip helped me in accepting that the series is over and solidified that what they had was truly special.
Not a spoiler since this isn't canon material unfortunately.

I'll try watching ''the Sound of your Heart''. All episodes of Untamed are on Youtube so you can watch it there freely, subtitles are provided by fans. Again, first 2 episodes will be confusing but when the flashback starts (which takes 30 episodes to complete) you will be introduced to the story properly.

No problem! Hope you enjoy both! I use the same method for watching dramas so I understand the feeling. Crash landing on you is an easy story to follow but Untamed can be a bit more difficult. Keep in mind that it has a flashback of 30 episodes starting in episode 2 (when the mc falls down) and you'll be fine.

Well surviving an embolism is always an accomplishment. You do take medication (bloodthinners) right? I personally know someone affected by similar circumstances so I know the struggle that results from it.

Becoming germaphobic is something that can happen. I used to have it pretty bad when I was younger but its gotten better and some days are better than others. Now I just accept that I have a phase every day where I'm likely ''dirty'' and just clean my hands when I'm home and also every time I use an item which is from someone else/from outside. I also still try to reduce touching my environment as much as possible.
Having trips where there was almost no food/utilities definitely helped reduce my symptoms (survival instinct takes over) but it never leaves completely, you just learn to live with it better.

I think there is a divide between calm introverted women and energetic introverted women. Energetic introverted women will definitely be likely to hit others when watching their favourite shows/playing games but calm introverts will refrain from that. Problem with calm introverts is that they are usually also openly depressed/anxious. So I suppose while that's not a phobia, it's certainly not ideal.

When you asked what kind of stories I watched I did get taken aback because I never paid attention to the amount of hitting from females before. So unfortunately besides certain guy-only stories (the type of media straight men would probably avoid) I can only recommend a few stories to you with certainty.

I'd recommend ''The Untamed'' as being a great fantasy story about loyalty and sacrifice. The clothes and music were also just really beautiful. The story is interesting and there are multiple layers of evil that will make their appearance even though they've been there from the beginning. Special international edition is airing at the moment (due to succes of the original).

Also ''Crash landing on you'' for being a straightforward romance, the main female never loves another man. It's also set in both North- and South Korea which means lot of hiding away from authorities and learning about other cultures. It's airing right now, you should catch up on this one. You need to appreciate absurdity as something comedic to enjoy this one though. For example, in the first episode she escapes soldiers by running over a minefield.

Loved episode 12, though it wasn't completely what I expected.. I expected comedy with the soldier-guys and sure there was that but this episode was just heartwrenching. I'm so protective of the soldier-guys and the main leads now, they are adorable. I can't wait till episode 13 because I may finally start to like the secondary couple next episode.
