More than just watching it I'm also kinda checking how some things have changed since Sungkyunkwan Scandal-era. I miss those characters and I hope this new friendgroup will be able to replicate that hype.

I just watched the original version from 2000... That one is so much better than this.

I mean, we all know Female Lead x Prince guy is endgoal anyway. They make it pretty clear from beginning that those two are destined.

Solid second episode. It's reviving my Sungkyunkwan Scandal fan-self, if they somehow manage to get that vibe down + good pacing it's gonna be a good show.
So predictions: Prince and FL are main couple, other male leads are the bromance friendship guys.

Episode 2 was a nice set-up to the friendship group dynamic that will play a central role in the show. We got the younger cute guy, the suspicious charismatic guy, the hidden prince and the revengeful female lead.

I'm expecting drama, deaths, revenge monologues and a combo of comedy & melo-moments for the romance. But give them some chance to get to those emotions/feels, they need that lighthearted comedy-phase first to get the friendgroup established.

Without English subs for now yes. Idk when the English subs version drops.

The modern version is better.

This one is actually way better than the remake with good acting and good chemistry.

So for the story, I was only able to watch a stageplay since this movie is rare but I've read that the story is basically the same anyways.

Okita Souji is picked up as a baby by tuberculosis-infected people, she is taught swordskills as she grows up and meets Hijikata Toshizo of the Shinsengumi who immediately sees she's a woman and get her to join the Shinsengumi for some reason. She then meets Ryoma who has a pistol. He too immediately recognizes she is a woman.

Anyway Okita Shouji still has tuberculosis so I believe at some point she infects Ryoma who dies in a fight later. The end.

Apparently a historic comedy set in the late Edo period. Depicting a love triangle between Sakamoto Ryoma and Hijikata Toshizo over Okita, a member of the Shinsengumi. In an alternate-setting where Okita Shouji is a woman. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Tsuka Kohei and is written and directed by Yakushiji Mitsuyuki.

So last time, otaku guy died due to overhype of his idol.

Glasses guy, delinquent guy, blonde guy, beige shirt guy, green shirt guy.

The rest of the living guys get some boxed food and they argue a bit about this. Then delinquent guy tries to be assertive to claim the box for himself and blonde guy is apparently into that as the alarm goes off for him. Everyone is kinda spooked by the blonde guy being excited by assertiveness and they back off from blonde guy which somehow evolves into a game of tag until they're all tired.

Delinquent guy claims the box of food in the end and throws the rest of the guys one package of the box. Blonde guy asks to go with him as he leaves and carries the box.

Glasses guy, beige shirt guy and green shirt guy are left behind as a group of three. Green shirt guy starts breathing heavily and beige shirt guy wanders whats up and checks in on him. He holds his forehead against green shirts forehead and discovers he has a fever, but also simultaneously triggers the alarm (cause green shirt guy is crushing on beige shirt guy). Green shirt guy tries to walk away but his fever is really heavy, beige shirt guy catches him.

Meanwhile with delinquent guy, he is eating while blonde guy tries to strike up a conversation. Delinquent guy ends up throwing him some food. Delinquent guy tries to threaten blonde guy but, again, blonde guy is kinda into that so alarm goes off again.

On the other side, green shirt guy is now under a blanket and beige shirt guy is taking care of him. Glasses guy sees beige shirt guy give green shirt guy his vest and punches beige shirt guy. Because glasses guy realizes that beige shirts guy kindness could literally kill green shirt guy from heartbeat-overexposure.

Glasses guy talks honestly and heartfelt to beige guy explaining the situation which apparently beige guy likes which is for him the alarm. But beige shirt guy insists on taking care of green shirt guy, the argument of which is even heard by delinquent and blonde guy. Green shirt guy gives heartfelt speech about his life which at the very end also gives alarm for beige shirt guy upon which they figure its probably a specific word that triggers it and they try to avoid that. Glasses guy gives also big speech about his life after which they all go to sleep.

Glasses guy dies in his sleep cause he dreams of seeing his daughter or something. Green shirt guy and beige shirt guy tried to help but he just kept sleeping. Beige shirt guy blames themselves but green shirt guy disagrees. Turns out from the camera footage it was delinquent guy who whispered something to glasses guy in his sleep, which probably caused his dream.

This is where episode ends with preview already showing delinquent guy will abuse his power in the future to try and get green-shirt and beige-shirt eliminated from the game.

I read on tiktok that episode 2 airs on 15th of December.

Pretty sure this movie took the whole production-company down with it since LovePlace/公式ツイッター has been real silent for a decade now.

So from my research this was actually released in the same DVD as (the assumedly straight romance)->

And was basically seen as a different (BL) route of the story? Or different perspective. To be specific: ''from Mizuki x Atsushi's perspectives''
